Fur - X Offender

Today's song is a cover version of a Blondie classic by a band from New York City called Fur who were together between 1991-1998. Featuring Holly Ramos (vocals/guitar), Danuta Roberts (Gozdziewicz) on bass and a number of drummers including  Peter Klinger and Michael Mc Dermott, they were often likened to a female fronted version of The Ramones (aside from the catchy pop punk tunes, Roberts at one time dated Dee Dee).

They released a couple of singles, 1993's Sex Drive/I'm Not Coming 7" and 1996's Mira Mira. There was also a highly regarded self titled album which came out in 1995 on Blackout! Records and which features the song posted below.

If you're looking for a fuzzed up pop punk classic then look no further, this is X Offender.......

I saw you standing on the corner
You looked so big and super fine
I really wanted to go out with you
So when you smiled, I laid my heart on the line

You read me my rights and then you said
"Let's go" And nothing more
I thought of my nights, and how they were
They were filled with
I know you wouldn't go
You'd watch my heart burst then you'd step in
I had to know, I asked
You just had to

We sat in the night
With my hands cuffed at my side
I look at your life and your style
Wanted nothing more
I know you wouldn't go
You'd watch my heart burst then you'd step in
I had to know, I asked
You just had to

Walking the line, you were a marksman
Told me that law, like wine is ageless, public defender
You had to admit
You wanted the love of a sex offender
I know you wouldn't go
You'd watch my heart burst then you'd step in
I had to know, I asked
You just had to

My vision in blue
I call you from inside my cell
And there at the trial, you were there
With your badge and rubber boots
I think all the time how
I'm going to perpetrate love with you
And when I get out
There's no doubt I'll be sex offensive to you
