Psycho Sexual Sex Terrestrials (or PSST for short) were a punk/indie band from Rhyl, North Wales who were active between 1990 and 1993.
Recently they returned, suited and rebooted with original members Paul Hammond (vocals) and Dean Roberts (guitar/vocals) being joined by the next generation of the band, Paul's daughter Jesse who does her first stint as a singer and pulls it off beautifully.
They've just released an album titled Greatest Failures in which some of their old songs have been given a make over and sound much improved. The album's on Weekend Offender Records and is available on 12" Lathe Cut Record (Red,White and Black) and as a digital download : https://weekendoffenderrecords.bandcamp.com/album/greatest-failures
This song featured on last night's Just Some Punk Songs show as one of the listeners' favourite songs from the first half of the year. It's called Unwanted Male...
For today's update I'm highlighting a song from an excellent debut album by Triple Lutz (https://www.facebook.com/triplelutzpdx). I think I'll just quote what it says about them on Bandcamp as it's a very on point summation...
TRIPLE LUTZ is punk rock/Tonya Hardingcore from Portland, Oregon's. Half queer, half feminine and half naughtyđź’€! they're full of raw energy and a roaring rage “This month they will release their first full-length album entitle Hands of an Angry Mob” Peace and Love, No Violence, No Homophobic, No Sexism, Destroy Racism and Long Live the Anarquista.
I've already played a couple of songs on the show. Songs that had me eagerly awaiting the album's release. Now it's here and it certainly doesn't disappoint. The line up of the band is Asher (Lead Voxx), Kay Morrisette (Guitars, Voxx), Sean Farrell (Bass, Voxx) & Lily Bry (Drums, Voxx). They've released a debut that'll not only appeal to the hardcore kids but on the evidence of tracks such as Dead Grass should reach a wider audience (in a similar kinda way as Mannequin Pussy).
Another fantastic new band from the Rock & Roll factory that is Australia. "PEACHY" is an all-female powerhouse from Brisbane that specialize in tits out, in your face Punk Rock. https://peachyband.bandcamp.com/album/body-horror.
To all the women out there - You HAVE to listen to the song "13" and follow along with the lyrics. It nearly brought me to tears. I swear men will never understand the bullshit that we put females through from the time they hit fucking puberty!
"Wait4Me" is a slower, Post-Punk style love song that really hits you in "the feels". Melita, Georgina, Madi & Eliza - These ladies really have it going on musically & lyrically. Total package. At 5 songs this is a nice introduction to a very talented up & coming band from a country that seems to breed them. Highly Recommended Listening.
Here's one of the most personal songs I've ever heard a female Punk band throw down - the amazing "13"
VERSE 1
I was thirteen, I was thirteen, when he touched me he was thirteen,
Older boys said to try.
Felt so unclean, kind of scary, but I felt seen and I thought,
That’s just how it went with the guys.
I was fifteen, I was fifteen, and I’m running, they’re all yelling,
From the window (of) their car,
In their twenties, always scared me it’s so obscene that I thought,
That’s just how the young guys are.
VERSE 2
I was eighteen, I was eighteen, you were smoking, you were waiting,
At the back of the bar,
Under my skirt, tried to grab me, you’re a stranger,
And it hit your hands before they got to far.
In my twenties, in my twenties, I was walking, you were stalking as I tried to go home.
You were waiting at my window, told my housemates, and they said,
That’s just how it always goes.
CHORUS x2
I don’t wanna be confused, with an object you can use,
I don’t wanna excuse any time you,
Amuse yourself at my expense.
VERSE 3
Now I’m thirty, now I’m thirty, try to,
Hurt me, you’d be joking, I just dare you to try.
We’re no longer, only thirteen and we’ll fight back.
You’re not safe behind those lies, now I’m,
Older, I’m stronger, I realise how wrong were, the
Things you did to me, to satisfy your needs, I’m
Sick of excuses, the big and small abuses that were made.
CHORUS x 2
BRIDGE x2
So fuck you, for the trauma,
You make my skin crawl, and we don’t want you.
OUTRO
She said,
Every woman has a story, and I hate that it’s the truth.
I’m so sick and tired of worrying, there’s just no more,
Excuse, excuse, excuse, excuse, excuse, excuse, excuse, excuse,
Excuse, excuse, excuse, excuse, excuse, excuse, excuse.
What’s your excuse?
What’s your excuse?
What’s your excuse?
What’s your excuse?
What’s your excuse?
What’s your excuse?
What’s your excuse?
There’s no excuse?
Often punk songs can be serious and can express frustrations or anger about the world we live in. Sometimes they can be more personal and deal with the writer's state of mind. This song is just fun.
They recently released an album titled Pest From The West. I played a song from it on a recent show (the fast paced and highly addictive Bike Beach Pub). It's one highlight on a very fine album.
Another highlight is this song about what might happen when nature calls whilst you're on a road trip. It's called North West Coastal Highway...
Stop for a piss on the side of the road Had a couple beers time to lighten the load Out in the desert not a tree in sight But I don't give a fuck I don't really mind The gascoyne sun's burning bloody hot Nobody around I pop a little squat Got the ute as a shield I start to break the seal Yeah everything's going my way! BUT I FORGOT KEN'S THE FUNNIEST MAN ALIVE HE GOES OI WATCH THIS ERICA PUTS THE UTE INTO DRIVE So I'm squattin and I'm pissin And I'm watchin and I'm wishin That the ute didn't just drive away But I'm laughing cos it's funny It's just me and my bare bum here out Whizzin on the shoulder of the highway Then a horn blasts as a car drives past Gaping and gawking at my bare arse Oh fuckin fuck Faaaaaaaaaark
I mooned an old lady On the north west coastal highway Pissed all over my own pants Tryin to run away I mooned an old lady On the north west coastal highway Pissed all over myself Fuck yeah
I mooned an old lady On the north west coastal highway Pissed all over my own pants Tryin to run away I mooned an old lady On the north west coastal highway Pissed all over myself Fuck yeah
Blind Eye (https://www.facebook.com/p/Blind-Eye-Band-100064955622264/) are a hardcore punk band from Nottingham who've been around since 2019 and who feature members of acts such as Heresy, Bloody Head, Pitchshifter, Wolves Of Greece, Army Of Flying Robots etc. They line up thus; Steve Charlesworth – Drums, Matt Grundy – Bass, Andrew Morgan – Guitar & Anmarie Spaziano – Vocals and are influenced by the likes of The Comes, Jerrys Kids, Aus-Rotten and Chaos UK.
They've recently released a second album (their debut being 2022's Decomposed) which is titled Mistrust Your Nation and after listening to it I can't help thinking why aren't these guys getting more attention? It's a raging beast of a release that has the lot... Pounding riffs, great lyrics and a powder keg of a vocalist in Anmarie Spaziano.
There's a video for the song Blitz Can which you should watch (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1VxblZdgo4) but the track I'm highlighting today is called Darts Cards Bingo...
I highly recommend you check out their previous releases as it looks as though the band is no more. The new ep appears to be a farewell from them. 3 tracks (2 originals and a cover of Teengenerate's My GTO) it's titled Pointless Game and is available via Total Punk Records.
I wrote at the time "The album contains 11 catchy, anthemic singalongs. Gritty vocals stand out nice and clear over instruments that are played with gusto by a band that have clearly honed their skills supporting the likes of Cockney Rejects, SLF, The Exploited etc..." and going of the evidence of their new single, it's a skill that hasn't deserted them.
Whilst checking the Just Some Punk Songs database I noticed I'd played Madrid band Plastic Meat on the show back in October 2025 (I must have featured something from their debut self titled ep though it slips my mind what).
Nicking info from the Bandcamp page; they formed in 2024, their songs are short and direct and the influences mentioned include Ron Asheton (Stooges), The Chats, Split System, X-Ray Spex & Amyl and the Sniffers.
This is the opening track, it's called Burn With Me...
