The Coneheads - Way Things Am
After updating this blog almost daily for over a year now, I'm amazed I've not run out of great stuff to post without having to resort to adding material that isn't top notch. Fortunately so far I've still managed to keep the standards high, just look at the posts from the last week or two, killer old bands, exciting new ones and some top 10 lists from very cool people. I'm very fortunate that the punk scene has, and continues to be a hotbed of talent, enthusiasm and creativity.
And if today's update proves anything, it's that the scene is still throwing up bands that know their history and can take their influences and put their unique spin on a classic sound to make it exciting and fresh.
Hailing from Indiana, The Coneheads have already unleashed a couple of cassettes, Canadian Cone and Total Conetrol but this month saw them put out their debut album. I'm going to give the title of it a paragraph of it's own!.....
L.P.1. aka "14 Year Old High School PC-Fascist Hype Lords Rip Off Devo for the Sake of Extorting $$$ from Helpless Impressionable Midwestern Internet Peoplepunks L.P."
It's at this point that I make the obligatory Devo reference (can I say The Spits as well), The Coneheads sound as though someone has dragged the Akron new wavers through a time portal from the early 80's and force fed them on a diet of blue smarties and red bull to produce a hyped up version of their signature sound. Do yourself a favour and join the party .......... http://erstetheketontraeger.bandcamp.com/album/ett-028-the-coneheads-l-p-1-aka-14-year-old-high-school-pc-fascist-hype-lords-rip-off-devo-for-the-sake-of-extorting-from-helpless-impressionable-midwestern-internet-peoplepunks-l-p
From the album, this is Way Things Am.....
