Next month will see them embarking on a European tour.

I've only given it the one play so far (I was impressed enough to want to shout about it on here immediately) and it's one of those albums that catches your attention straight away but you just know has enough going on that it'll be even better on repeat plays.

Playboy Manbaby (https://www.facebook.com/PlayboyManbaby) it seems are not a band. They're a corporation. They're from Phoenix, Arizona. Despite releasing music for well over a decade, I don't think I've listened to them till now. But I'm liking what I hear.

I feel I should know more about GOLD CUP (https://www.instagram.com/gimmiegoldcup/). They're from Manchester, they introduced themselves a couple of years ago with debut single 8 Ball but I don't think I played anything on the show till recent single Zero Percent.
So let's make amends today.

The Out-Sect (https://www.facebook.com/TheOutSect) are a fuzzed out garage punk quintet from Philadelphia featuring a line up of Lisa (vocals/guitar), Grey (lead guitar), Romain (drums), Laura (bass/backing vocals) & Todd (harmonica/organ).
They've been releasing music since 2020. One of those songs, Go Away (https://theoutsect.bandcamp.com/track/go-away), ended up grabbing the number 11 spot in the Just Some Punk Songs 2022 end of year Top 100 chart.
They've just unleashed a new 14 song album titled Primitive Sound. The title sums up pretty well what you're gonna get... primitive, authentic sounding garage rock. It's available on vinyl from Drowned World Records :
Here's a life affirming little tune about embracing growing older that went down well on this week's Just Some Punk Songs show.
It's by Yorkshire-based, female-fronted garage punk band The Puncturists (https://www.facebook.com/thepuncturists). They feature a line up of Gail Townsend (Vocals), Martin Gregory (Drums), Pat Crawford (Guitar and Vocals) & Dale Farrow (Bass and Vocals) and this song is about "when someone tells you that you get to a certain age and you shouldn't try new things because you're "too old for that nonsense" tell them to stuff it! This song is Gail telling those who doubted her taking up vocals in a band at the age of 55 to stuff it!"
A brief history lesson. As 2013 drew to a close I decided to start a blog. The first 2 songs I posted (on December 31st) were Alright by Radioactivity and I'll Be Gone by Oblivians (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2013/). Not a bad way to kick things off!
I mention that because today I'm highlighting a song by a band from Memphis called Laundry Bats. They feature Greg Cartwright and Jack Yarber from Oblivians (and Reigning Sound & Compulsive Gamblers). Rounding out the trio is Abe White (Manateees/True Sons of Thunder).

A new band to me today, one that it isn't easy to pin down with regards to style of music. Let's just say they utilise a myriad of sounds. There's garage punk going up against post punk with invention being the order of the day.
They're called Dog Lips and they hail from Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Their first release was a Self Titled album in 2022, their latest being sophomore album Danger Forward.
It hits hard from the start with a very cool song called Brain Feeder which features a riff that'll get under your skin. There's more highly infectious guitar sounds running through the song I'm highlighting today. It's called Voicemail Bomb Threat...
It's been many years since I've posted an old song on here but today's update features one from 2005. The reason being is that this week's Just Some Punk Songs show isn't the usual new release showcase. Instead I'm indulging myself by playing 25 golden oldies. They're a DIY psychedelic punk ensemble from Leicester featuring a line up of Rob (guitar/vocals), Steve (bass), Mat (keyboards/Kaos pad), Maria (vocals) & Lauren (drums/vocals). Helping expand their sound on their newly released 2nd album are Thor (saxophone), Kev (lead guitar), Craig (saxophone), Sarah (triangle) & Zoe (spoken word intro).
The albums titled Barely Concealed Chaos with The Cars that Ate Paris and it's a brimming over with a cornucopia of interesting ideas. There's a myriad of influences, it's an album that should have something for everyone. Check it out :

Aka as Jade Baisa, when you see there's new music by her you just know it's going to hit that sweet spot. Jangly garage/power pop, it's a joy. So when I crawled out of bed this morning and stumbled on a new song I knew I had to shout about it.
It's featured on a 40 track compilation album from the see/saw newsletter titled BATTLE FOR L.A.: a see/saw benefit. There's some great bands on there (Gee Tee, Neo Neos, Billiam...) and all the songs are previously unreleased. All proceeds go directly to individuals and families impacted by the Eaton and Palisades Fires in Los Angeles earlier this year.
By my calculations, I make it that this is the 6th time Bart And The Brats (https://www.facebook.com/bartandthebrats) have featured on this blog. Quite some going but I guess it just shows how consistent they are when it comes to turning out catchy punk tunes.
When I say they, I suppose I mean he as in the studio the band is the solo project of Bart De Vraantijk who's been doing this sort of thing in numerous cool bands for several years now. "The Brats" supplement the line up for live shows.
The new ep will be 4 more upbeat garage punk tunes, it'll be released on November 8th via Dirty Water and Roaring Blood Records Records and as well as the digital download you'll be able to get it on ltd (300 copies) 7" vinyl. Influenced by the likes of The Ramones, Zeros, Kids & Teenage Head you pretty much know what you're going to get before you click play.

They're from Nashville, Tennessee and they're gearing up to release a new album on Big Neck Records which will out on September 13th and will be titled Where's Your Head? The line up of the band on the album is Kiley Wells (PART TIME FILTH), Ryan Sweeney (SLEEVEENS/CHEAP TIME), and Jordan Wayne (AQUARIAN BLOOD).

Fat Earthers (https://www.facebook.com/fatearthersband) are a garage punk band from Ventnor, a seaside resort town on the Isle Of Wight. They've just released a new song. It's an energetic fuck you which sees them taking their frustrations and channeling them into art. It's the 1st single off an upcoming 2nd album and it makes me want to hear the rest of the tracks (so definitely a case of job well done).
