As is often the case on a Monday, I'm posting a song that went down well with the listeners in the chatroom for last night's Just Some Punk Songs show...
They've just released their 3rd ep. It's packed with a generous 8 songs, released by Slovenly Recordings and titled After The Storm. Available on vinyl, cd and digital download you can find it here : https://twentyonechildren.bandcamp.com/album/after-the-storm
This is what Bandcamp says about them; "Formed by friends Thula and Abdula with drummer Biko, they fuse U.S. skate punk grit with Soweto’s heartbeat in a storm of noise, soul, and defiance. Combining the insolent attacks of Suicidal Tendencies & Reagan Youth with the crude, rural thud of Ngozi Family."
Praised by the chatroom listeners for it's grittiness, this is the band's police story. It's called SCAB...
Lucy (https://www.instagram.com/lucy__offi/) are from Madrid and are another of the bands that went down a storm on this week's show so I'll highlight them on here.
They're a hard hitting punk quartet featuring Tata (drums), Claudia (bass), Laura (guitar) & Neli (vocals) who formed in 2022. Last September saw them release a debut album titled El Orden. It's available as a name your price download here : https://lucy707.bandcamp.com/album/el-orden
This track deals with the increase in protests in Spain about the over abundance of tourists. Protestors said that the large number of visitors were the cause of price increases for goods across the city, as well as putting pressure on public services, and complained that wealth generated by tourism was not distributed and thus a cause of increased social inequality. This is Lucy's take on things. It's called Tourist Go Home...
Burned-out tourists wreak havoc on the city. Jump off the balcony, let's see if you die already. And that way my rent goes down again. I don't give a damn about your specialty coffee. You should get a bullet in the back of the head. Get out of my neighborhood, I'm going to rob you. I'd flood the fucking city with blood.
Guillotine the landlord, bodies float in the Duero. Tourist Go Home. Attack the cops, a hole in the back of their necks . Tourist Go Home.
If an immigrant is white, they applaud him when he arrives. Tourist rentals are the current plague. You should put Mussolini up as a guarantor. Go home, we're going to expropriate you. In summer we hope you have a great time. While we start playing with your fucking guts . Watch your wallet, your cell phone, your grandmother. The lock on your unregulated apartment in Marbella.
Guillotine the landlord, bodies float in the Duero. Tourist go home. Attack the cops, a hole in the back of their necks. Tourist go home . Tourist Go Home. Tourist Go Home.
Guillotine the landlord, bodies float in the Duero. Tourist Go Home. Attacks the cops, a hole in the back of their necks. Tourist Go Home. Tourist Go Home.)
BiNT (https://www.facebook.com/BintOfficial/) are a punk band from South Shields. They feature a line up of Ryan Ailano (Guitar), Seaghan Herrera Valentine (Guitar), Riece Kidney (Electric Bass Guitar) & Andrew Hudson (Drums).
I know the square root of fuck all about them but they went down a storm with the folk in the chatroom on this week's Just Some Punk Songs show so that's as good a reason as any to shout about them.
This song is from their 2025 Demo and it's bloody good so give it a listen. It's called Imposter Syndrome...
Radio Chip Pan (https://www.facebook.com/radiochippan) are an old school punk quartet from Dunfermline who feature a line up of Eddie (lead guitar and vocals), Dave (bass and backing vocals), Scott (rhythm guitar and backing vocals) & Dom (drums).
They first came to my attention with their 2023 album Happy Now. Last year saw them get another play on the Just Some Punk Songs show when they released a fairly apt tune called Make Punk Offensive Again.
That mission statement is in full effect on their latest release. It's a jolly old singalong about the BBC and some of the less than savoury characters that have been employed (and at times protected) by that organization. You can find it here : https://radiochippan.bandcamp.com/track/nonce-factory
Let's kick 2026 off with a lively punk ditty that I missed last year.
Craic Killers (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61581502717812) are a politically active Welsh/Irish punk duo based in South East London. They're new to me so I know very little about them but I do know that they released a very fine ep in October titled Who TF Is....Craic Killers?
5 tracks of blistering punk tuneage accompanied by acerbically thoughtful lyrics. Topics include how those in power seek to divide and distract (Stop arguing with each other, They are doing this on purpose, Split the people, split the conscious, and you’ll find yourself in office), colonialism (And don’t you ever forget, yous are murderers, I want my counties back) and middle aged narrow minded women (like Lucy Connolly?) (It’s all for the greater good it’s for the master race).
I'm looking forward to hearing more. (There's a collaboration coming on the January 2026 Dam-nations compilation from Dammit Records where they've teamed up with Asthma Killers on a track called Davos) https://dammitrecords.bandcamp.com/album/dam-nations-january-2026
This is the opening track. It's a song about police discrimination. It translates into English as The Pigs. It's titled Na Muca...
Na muca, na RUC and the Met,
Whatever you’re calling them,
Off with their heads,
Na muca, NYPD and the Met,
Whatever you’re calling them,
They can get bent,
These things claim to be the guardians of the civil world,
A place where nothing bad can happen if you know the rules,
Only if you’re of a lighter persuasion,
Because everybody knows about police discrimination,
They won’t admit it, they’ve the chart in their car,
Darker than a beach tan, you ain’t going too far,
No pale skin like Dracula, they wont let you in,
But he won’t get in either, bloody immigrants,
Na muca, na RUC and the Met,
Whatever you’re calling them,
Off with their heads,
Na muca, NYPD and the Met,
Whatever you’re calling them,
They can get fucking bent,
There’s nobody more violent than the police,
Other than the military, which makes you a Nazi,
Little sore losers, all lined up,
Got bullied in school, but now you’re making time up,
They won’t admit it, they’ve the chart in their car,
Darker than a beach tan, you’re not going too far,
No pale skin like Dracula, they wont let you in,
But he won’t get in either, bloody immigrants,
The whole world watched it on their TV,
Got more problems with footballers taking knees,
Vision is clouded and judgement is blurred,
As long as they don't come to get me first,
Vision is clouded and judgement is blurred,
As long as they don't come to get me first,
Vision is clouded and judgement is blurred,
As long as they don't come to get me first,
Na muca, na RUC and the Met,
Whatever you’re calling them,
Off with their heads,
Na muca, NYPD and the Met,
Whatever you’re calling them,
They can get fucking bent,
Na muca, na RUC and the Met,
Whatever you’re calling them,
Off with their heads,
Na muca, NYPD and the Met,
Whatever you’re calling them,
Off with their heads.
(Wee John Butcher go and suck your ma)
Just a quick update for the last day of 2025. Happy New Year everyone...
Playboy Manbaby (https://www.facebook.com/PlayboyManbaby) it seems are not a band. They're a corporation. They're from Phoenix, Arizona. Despite releasing music for well over a decade, I don't think I've listened to them till now. But I'm liking what I hear.
They've a new album coming out on January 6th. It'll be titled Violence. From the evidence presented by the already available tracks it'll be a creative mash up of genres. It sounds like it'll be a lively affair. You can find out more here : https://playboymanbaby.bandcamp.com/album/violence
I think this is my favourite track so far. It's called Criminals...
Spent 7 thousand dollars on this self-defense class So you can protect the 7 dollars in your wallet They’re here to break into your house They wanna steal your family photographs, that’s a fact!
Criminals Criminals Criminals Criminals
When the burglars come to Gilbert They’re in for a big surprise My assault rifles are ready To literally blow their minds
Criminals Criminals Criminals Criminals
Let me ask you, ask you honestly, do you know your enemy? Are the people who make less money than you, are they your enemy? Are the people who worship a different god, are they your enemy? Or is it those who make a profit off, of human suffering? Criminals
Here's a festive tune from one of the shining lights of 2025.
There may be AI heavily involved in Michael Maus' Blvckhelicopters project but I guess the genie's out of the box now and there ain't no putting it back. So if you're going to use it, use it to create something that little bit special.
I don't want a lot for Christmas My list only includes one thing An armed rebellion against the state Dancing around the guillotine
All I want for Christmas Is a world without the state Raise the black flag high When tyrants die we celebrate All I want for Christmas Is a world without the state Raise the black flag high When anarchy wins we celebrate
I don't want a lot for Christmas There's just one thing I need Every politician on a cross And police dying in the street
We'll have rebellion on Christmas night Unified people armed in the moonlight March down to Washington DC And drag politicians out into the street
I've not added too many updates this last week or two as I've been busy looking back over the year to sort out two "Best Of" shows and a Top 100 chart. Always a time consuming task (and always frustrating as no matter how long I spend on it I always seem to miss something out).
One band that won't be overlooked are The Control Freaks (https://www.facebook.com/ControlFreaksSF). The San Francisco garage punkers are fronted by the legendary Greg Lowery (Supercharger, The Rip Offs, The Infections, Zodiac Killers and Rip Off Records).
They've just ensured that 2025 finishes off in fine style by releasing a new album (their 4th). It's out now (vinyl & digital) on Sweet Time Records and it's titled TV Generation. https://sweettime.bandcamp.com/album/tv-generation
If you're already familiar with the band you'll pretty much know what to expect. Garage punk royalty doing what they do best. A dozen songs; catchy and fun and not a duff one amongst them.
The band have released a few promo videos so I'll highlight one of those songs today. Duel vocals from Greg and rhythm guitarist Amy Munoz and a nagging riff, this is Don't Bug Me...
They bow out today with a track from the 69 song compilation titled Ceasefire? There Ain't No Fucking Ceasefire!
It's a comp that features a great line up of bands. It's available as a name your price download and all proceeds go to a very good cause (which you can read about on Bandcamp).
Here's a great song I've just stumbled across from a band that's new to me.
Yunk are from Bilbao and their bio says; "A new punk and noise band from Bilbao with vibrant guitars and catchy pop melodies. An EP full of epic anthems that will make any skinhead's hair grow, sound like a cross between JJ & the A's and The Men"
They've just released a Self Titled ep on Symphony Of Destruction Records and it's a blast. 4 tracks of melodic punk from a band I hope we'll hear much more from.
Cheltenham melodic punk quartet 4ft Fingers have long been one of my favourite bands. Great music and equally as good live shows. But it's been 17 years since their last release (2008's New Beginnings Of Old Stories album) and it's been 11 years since they featured on here : https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2014/04/4ft-fingers-emergency-manoeuvre.html
Happily they've announced a new album that'll be out next year on Disconnect Disconnect Records.
It can be a worry when a band has been away for so long. Are they going to be as good? Happily the answer seems to be a resounding yes.
Here's the first single from the album. The sound of a band that's matured but have kept their edge. This is Better Days...
Imagine if the BBC's Riot Women wrote a song about men moaning about how hard done by they are. It might sound something like this.
Pegging Mitchell (https://www.facebook.com/pegging.mitchell) are a new band from Worcester. They've just released a debut single. It's proof that bands can be angry but still have fun. They still want to take aim at the typical targets but they're going to have a laugh whilst they do so.
And it's pretty obvious they can write a catchy tune to go with their well thought out lyrics.
Supposedly it's London town but I'm not sure I'd take that as gospel?
They're a mystery band called The Local Offenders.
All they admit to for a line up is this;
Vocals: whoever’s sober
Guitar: someone’s cousin
Bass: the only reliable one
Drums: banned from three pubs
They play oi! music with very much tongue in cheek. They claim they're taking the piss out of the scene but they're treating it with fond respect to my ears. They bring to mind favourites such as Hard Skin and City Miles. They sing about Doc Martens, pubs, working class heroes and girls.
Here's a blast of nostalgia about back in the day. It's called You Weren't There In '82...
I saw Sham at the Bridge House
Before they ever made it big I was there when it all kicked off You were still in your crib Got the first seven-inch Bought it right from the band Got the badges, got the patches This is real Oi, man!
Not you! Not you! You weren’t there in ‘82! Not you! Not you! You weren’t there in ‘82! Don’t talk to me about the scene When you don’t know what it means You weren’t there in ’82!
I remember every show Every band, every fight Kings Cross on a Friday Tottenham Saturday night You can read about it online But you’ll never understand I’ve got the scars and stories This is real Oi, man!
Not you! Not you! You weren’t there in ‘82! Not you! Not you! You weren’t there in ‘82! Don’t talk to me about the scene When you don’t know what it means You weren’t there in ’82!
I’ve earned my place, paid my dues These boots have forty years on you You’re a culture vulture, you ain’t real You don’t know how it used to feel
I was causing bovver with my droogs While you were sucking from your bottle Running wild through the streets You were still learning how to toddle Now I’m fifty-three and grey But I was there back in the day And I’m still more authentic This is real Oi, man!
Not you! Not you! You weren’t there in ‘82! Not you! Not you! You weren’t there in ‘82!
Well mate, I wasn’t born ’til ’84 But you keep fighting that old war
You weren’t there in ’82! You weren’t there in ’82! You weren’t there in ’82! None of you were there in ’82!
Public Figures are a new punk infused power pop quartet from Melbourne who boast a line up of Evie Vlah, Gigi Argiro, Lakota Vella and Mary-Lou Hylands.
They've released 3 singles over the course of the last 18 months and these will feature on their upcoming debut ep alongside 3 more tracks. The ep will be titled Figure It Out! It's released on Feb 18th on 12" vinyl and you can find out more here : https://publicfigures4eva.bandcamp.com/album/figure-it-out-ep
One gig saw them wow a 10,000 strong Melbourne crowd as support for Amyl And The Sniffers. Their star is definitely in the ascendancy.
This is my pick of the available tracks, it's called Onto Something...
Dr Sure's Unusual Practice (https://www.instagram.com/drsuresunusualpractice/) are a now-wave music band from Melbourne featuring a line up of Dougal Shaw, Jake Suriano, Miranda Holt, Mathias Dowle and Asher Bates.
They're "7 years, 3 European tours, 3 LP's and a hoard of EP's and mixtapes into the project." I've played them on the show before but haven't yet introduced them on here so let's rectify that.
They've a new single out on the 10th of this month. One of the songs is already available. It's a love song with a difference of which the band say; “Pigs is an Animal Farm reference - it’s nothin’ new for art to hold a mirror to society. Sing “10 year old kids locked up in your prison” and you pretty quickly recognize the absurdity. Music can have a role in making that shit plain as day, bringing people together.” "It's about a farm with a pig problem," quips Shaw, describing the song's Orwellian portrayal of a coercive ruling class, "Animal Farm style, but the other animals are clued on to it, they're getting fired up."
It'll be available on 7" coloured vinyl and as a digital download
I've been checking out a debut album by a band who's introductory promo reads like this; "A strange brand of lighting fast political punk rock entertainment! Mixing the styles of bands like Frenzal Rhomb, Sonic Boom Six and Random Hand!"
The band are called Tape It Shut (https://www.facebook.com/TapeItShut) and they have members hailing from Reading and Manchester (Dan Tape - Guitar and Lead Vox, Kane Preston - Bass and Vox & Andrew Owens - Drums and Vox).
The album's titled Suspicious Package and to be fair to them, it's pretty much what I expected and what I was hoping for. It's a familiar sound done well and it's well worth checking out. 16 tracks, it's available physically from Cats Claw Records (UK) and Punk Rock Radar (US) https://linktr.ee/TapeItShut.
I like how they give a brief summing up of the songs on Bandcamp. So here's what they say about the song I'm highlighting today;
We are witnessing a scary increase in people hoarding wealth and assets in order to charge people extortionate rates for access to everything from concert tickets to housing to drug patents. In countries like the USA, healthcare is commodified to such a level that many people can't afford even the most basic levels of medication and treatment, while profits are funnelled into the pockets of CEOs and directors and the rich get richer. These systems are parasitic and unethical, taking advantage of the desperation of the many to benefit the interests of the few.
This is Parasites Inc...
It's not investment you're a parasite It's just a mark up keep the prices high You're just a scalper hoarding supplies We sing the rich stay rich for life
Landlords are charging arms and legs They'll start with eyeballs next For the roofs over our heads Floorboards collapse with every step Regulations ain't met It couldn't even house the dead It's what we've have come to expect There's no quality left Just greed and returns instead Why not exploit others to death As you raise the rent You blood sucking insects
Strangle supply Until you deny Access to medicine that saves lives We know why Price is sky high Choice is buy it or we die
It's not investment you're a parasite It's just a mark up keep the prices high You're just a scalper hoarding supplies We sing the rich stay rich for life It's not just investment while others have none Your just hoarding shit just because You'll make money on the long term Oh the monsters you've become
The skin and the bone is being ripped from the flesh We're bleeding out slow under the churn of business Another conman with more money than sense He'll buy out the blood banks without consequence Treat drugs like assets not life saving cures Treat property like cash not a place your secure Create scarcity for profit we cannot ignore Their worth is their money and nothing ever more
It's not investment you're a parasite It's just a mark up keep the prices high You're just a scalper hoarding supplies We sing the rich stay rich for life It's not just investment while others have none Your just hoarding shit just because You'll make money on the long term Oh the monsters you've become
It's not investment Your a parasite It's not business Your a parasite It's not a hustle Your a parasite Oh the monsters you've become Your not a landlord Your a parasite Your not a genius Your a parasite Your not human Your a parasite Oh the monsters you've become
They've just released a fiery new album titled To Die Among The Stars. It features a line up of Kyra Wagler (vocals), Nicholas Carbo (guitar), Cody Heebner (bass), Jared Spry (saxophone) & Charles Raffaele (Drums and Percussion). Sadly it's Kyra's last recordings with the band as she's decided to step away but she's going out on a high.
Suckerpunch (https://www.facebook.com/punchbags77) are from Birmingham and feature a line up of Neil (Guitar/Vocals), Craig (Bass), Joe (Guitar) & Jay Jay (Drums).
We have weapons grade narcissism church of self is a new religion treat yourself to the demolition broadcast pain is premonition every day you think you’re right but no one really wants the fight Broken down is the new obsession Someone answer the fucking question
What does a liar do when he’s dead? He lies still with a hole in his head. defend corporate greed for free, carry the cost of inequality Deny the rights of the working man Depose the few that stand with blood on their hands
unite to survive as they have profits to feed unite to survive as we can't eat greed unite to survive unite to survive unite to survive
What does a liar do when he’s dead? He lies still with a hole in his head. defend corporate greed for free, carry the cost of inequality Deny the rights of the working man Depose the few that stand with blood on their hands
