BART AND THE BRATS - Only Fair

  

  By my calculations, I make it that this is the 6th time Bart And The Brats (https://www.facebook.com/bartandthebrats) have featured on this blog. Quite some going but I guess it just shows how consistent they are when it comes to turning out catchy punk tunes. 

  When I say they, I suppose I mean he as in the studio the band is the solo project of Bart De Vraantijk who's been doing this sort of thing in numerous cool bands for several years now. "The Brats" supplement the line up for live shows. 

  The new ep will be 4 more upbeat garage punk tunes, it'll be released on November 8th via Dirty Water and Roaring Blood Records Records and as well as the digital download you'll be able to get it on ltd (300 copies) 7" vinyl. Influenced by the likes of The Ramones, Zeros, Kids & Teenage Head you pretty much know what you're going to get before you click play.

  I think this is the 5th time I've featured Bart And The Brats (https://www.facebook.com/bartandthebrats) on the blog and they've also made numerous appearances on the show. The most recent of those was a few weeks ago when I played Can't Think Straight which is the title track of their new ep. 

  That ep will be finally out later this week on Juvenile Delinquent Records and Take The City Records so keep an eye (and 2 ears!) on their Bandcamp pages. There's a limited number (300) on 7" vinyl so don't get caught snoozing.

  The band is from La Rochelle, France and feature Bart De Vraantijk who you may know from bands such as Wild Zeros, Teenage Hearts, The Janitors, The Pneumonias & Skeptics. I'm sure by now you know you'll be getting... '77 era punk mixed with a good dose of garage rock. You'll be also expecting some top notch songs and that's exactly what's on offer. 

  As I've already featured the title track on the show, I'm going for a different one on here. Something I'm sure we've all been guilty of, this is Clock-watcher... 

Bart And The Brats - Can't stand the Beatles

  

  

  I think this is the 4th song by Bart And The Brats (https://www.facebook.com/bartandthebrats) to feature on the Just Some Punk Songs blog and maybe it's their catchiest yet? Fast paced guitar/drum back beat with catchy chorus, it'll be a smash hit in some alternate reality where people actually have taste. 

  It's the lead song on the French garage band's new split 7" with "Bandung, Indonesia's slum king of garage" The Battlebeats (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2019/08/the-battlebeats-im-just-piece-of-shit.html). It's out now as the seventh instalment in the “International Garage split” series from Brooklyn’s Chickpea Records. There's no fucking about on this split, it's trashy garage goodness from the get go.

Bart And The Brats - Mental Case

     

  Bart And The Brats (https://www.facebook.com/bartandthebrats) return today with a track from their very impressive new Self Titled album. Hailing from La Rochelle in France and fronted by Bart De Vraantijk (a veteran rocker with bands such as Janitors, Pneumonias, Wild Zeros, Skeptics & Teenage Hearts), they've once again come up trumps with a collection of songs that the press release tells us is a mash up of Ramones, Zeros, Kids and Sham 69 style punk rock. 

  The album's been given a vinyl release by No Front Teeth Records (UK) and Big Neck Records (US) and it's also on Bandcamp as a digital download.

  11 original compositions and a pumped up cover of the Misfits' classic Static Age, it's a must hear album for all those of us that love KBD/garage/punk n roll type music. It's authentically trashy, the production manages to sound top notch without polishing away the rough edges. Check it out.

  Some of you may remember that earlier this year I featured a song by Bart And The Brats (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2021/03/bart-and-brats-try-harder.html). It was taken from their debut album Dogged (https://bartandthebrats.bandcamp.com/releases). They return today with a new single. 

   I say they but maybe I should say he as Bart And The Brats are (is?) the solo project featuring Bart De Vraantijk who you may know from bands such as Wild Zeros, Teenage Hearts, The Janitors, The Pneumonias, Skeptics and more. Based in La Rochelle, France, Bart has been brought up on a diet of late 70's punk and no doubt has plenty of Killed By Death and Bloodstains comps in his collection.

 

  The new record is an ep featuring 3 tracks with sharp guitars, loud bass, pounding drums and snotty vocals. It's titled Livin' In The Future and it's out next week on Spanish label Take The City Records  https://takethecityrecords.bandcamp.com/album/livin-in-the-future

  Bart And The Brats are a new one man project from Bart De Vraantijk (Wild Zeros (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2019/01/wild-zeros-teenage-lifestyle.html), Janitors, The Pneumonias, Teenage Hearts, Skeptics etc). Hailing from the French coastal city of La Rochelle, they play authentic sounding punk rock with influences ranging from 1977 era Sire Records to the likes of Ramones, Zeros, Kids, Sham 69 etc. 

  

  They've just released a debut album on Brooklyn label Chickpea Records, it's titled Dogged and it's available on 10" vinyl, cassette and digital download : https://bartandthebrats.bandcamp.com/releases

  It's a dozen tracks recorded in 3 days with a friend in a house in the French countryside, it's raw, it's heartfelt and it's well worth checking out. 

  This is about making amends and doing better this time around. It's called Try Harder...
