The Chats - Holier Than Thou

 

   If you're a Just Some Punk Songs visitor (which if you're reading this, you are!) then you no doubt already know of The Chats (https://www.facebook.com/thechatsband). Like me, you probably like them a lot. You may also know that the Sunshine Coast trio have just finished recording a new record (which they say sounds shit hot). It's definitely a release I'm looking forward to. 

  Whilst we wait, I'm posting a new song by them. No idea if it'll be on the new record (possibly not?) but it is on an album titled The Metallica Blacklist. If you fancy the idea of 53 artists covering the 12 tracks from Metallica's S/T album (aka The Black Album) then you're in for a treat.   All profits will be donated to the contributing artists' charity of choice with The Chats choosing Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation and The North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency. 

  In order to compare and contrast, I had a listen to the Metallica original of this song and it wasn't my cup of tea. Happily, The Chats' version is a scrappier, briefer and altogether more enjoyable affair. It's called Holier Than Thou...
