They've just dropped a new video to coincide with the release of their new single. I assume it'll be on Bargain Bin's Bandcamp tomorrow https://bargainbinrecords.bandcamp.com/ (so keep your eyes peeled) and no doubt it'll feature in their set list for their upcoming tours of the US, the UK and Europe.
Boosted by the addition of new guitarist Josh Hardy, this is the sound of a band at the top of their game and having a shitload of fun.

Like me, you probably like them a lot. You may also know that the Sunshine Coast trio have just finished recording a new record (which they say sounds shit hot). It's definitely a release I'm looking forward to.
Whilst we wait, I'm posting a new song by them. No idea if it'll be on the new record (possibly not?) but it is on an album titled The Metallica Blacklist. If you fancy the idea of 53 artists covering the 12 tracks from Metallica's S/T album (aka The Black Album) then you're in for a treat. Yay! The Chats (https://www.facebook.com/thechatsband/) are back with a new single. And it's great. It's fun, catchy and rocks like a mother. I'm sure you've all enjoyed plenty of repeat plays of their High Risk Behaviour album by now and I'm sure it'll be taking pride of place on many of your Best Of 2020 lists. Happily the new single is more of the same. It'd be a single of the week winner if I did such a thing. It's a pick me up for those over on this side of the world who were left disappointed at the recent news that the band's tour of Europe and The UK has been pushed back to 2022.
It's titled AC/DC CD and it extols the virtues of "the 2nd greatest band in history." The accompanying video will bring a smile to your face with Josh, Eamon & Matt rocking out in a way that would make their heroes proud. According to our fresh faced trio, there's only one band better!

So 2019, a great year for Australian punk music. So many great releases by killer bands such as Pinch Points, Vintage Crop, Civic, Ausmuteants etc and of course leading the way Amyl And The Sniffers. Or are they? Because another band that create an equal buzz whenever I feature them or play them on the show are the Sunshine Coast's favourite shed rockers The Chats. Not totally sure what shed rock is (I assume they don't have a garage) but in this case it means fucking killer punk rock. They've already thrilled with a couple of eps and a single, they deal with everyday subjects such as smoke breaks, doing whatever the hell you want and pub grub and they're back today with a new single that deals with the problem of having your details stolen.

One of the most popular bands I've featured on here (and played on the show) are Sunshine Coast shed rockers The Chats. Like many punk bands they write songs about stuff that's important to them. Unlike most other bands though, rather than writing about politics, gender issues or the environment, Josh Price, Eamon Sandwith and Matt Boggis are more concerned with the stuff that affects their daily lives. Like getting stranded with no bus money, their mum stealing their stuff or getting bothered whilst on a smoke break. As you'll hear on their new single (their first since last summer's Do What I Want) they're still sweating the big stuff.

Over the last few week's I've been putting together a special Just Some Punk Songs show that'll feature a playlist of new(ish) Australian punk music. I've pretty much got an hour's worth of songs (I've just been hanging on a bit to see if there were any more songs released from upcoming albums by 2 of that country's hottest new bands The Chats and Amyl And The Sniffers). There was a new single released by The Chats last month to coincide with their first headline tour of Australia but I'm going to play that on this Tuesday's show instead and I'll also post it on here today.
As mentioned last year when sharing Smoko (many peoples highlight from the Get This In Ya ep and also the flip side of the new single), The Chats are from Australia's Sunshine Coast. The line up of the band is Josh Price (guitar), Eamon Sandwith (bass/vocals) and Matt Boggis (drums). They've only been together for a couple of years but they've caused quite a stir. The single, the first taste of what we can expect, is more of the "couldn't give a fuck mate, we're Aussies" kind of punk that we now expect from them. Not for these guys concerns about the troubles of the outside world, they're more bothered about their hum drum everyday existence. Just leave them alone to live their lives at their own pace and don't tell them what to do.
On yesterday's Just Some Punk Songs show I played a great song by The Chats called Nazi March (show saved here if anyone wants it : (https://www.mixcloud.com/mick-fletcher/just-some-punk-songs-31017/) and the response of the regulars in the chatroom confirmed that it should be shared with a wider audience on here, so today I did a Youtube search for it. No joy unfortunately (not that that would usually matter as I'd probably just stick it on there myself and hope the band didn't mind!) but not to worry, there's just been an official video posted for another song from the same ep so we're gonna go with that....
The Chats are a shed rock band (I assume they haven't got a garage) from Australia's Sunshine Coast. They play a sloppy, couldn't give a fuck sounding brand of punk that's really rather excellent. They remind me a bit of one of my favourite UK bands, Suburban Homes. It's pretty basic stuff, quite humerous and works for me.
