Chaneys - Madeline

  Chaneys are the ghoulish punk band from Moscow who formed on Halloween 2017 and who featured on here last year with a song from their Legacy ep. With influences ranging from The Lillingtons through to Send More Paramedics (via The Misfits) it's no surprise that their love of all things horror bleeds through into their music.    There's 4 killer tracks on the ep all worthy of your attention (so I'll play a different one on Sunday's Just Some Punk Songs show to the one I've chosen to highlight below). Lining up with Gleb Kasady (guitar/vocals/keyboards), John Doe #27 (bass/backing vocals), Myers (guitar) and Dildo (drums) they're one of a number of bands that play this kind of horror punk but I think it's fair to say they're one of the better ones. This song is a tribute to actress Madeline Smith. She featured in Hammer films The Vampire Lovers, Taste The Blood Of Dracula and Frankenstein And The Monster From Hell as well as the Vincent Price classic Theatre Of Blood. A scream Queen that enthralled a generation.

The Anti-Bodies - Ninety Years Without Slumbering

  The Anti-Bodies are from Buffalo and have band members with names such as Jez A.Disaster (vocals), Izzy Deadly (guitar/backing vocals), Horace Chalem (bass) and Count Alucard (drums).  If, like me, you love pop punk music with a sci fi and horror theme you'll very probably love The Anti-Bodies. Their back catalogue is crammed with song titles such as Curse Of The Full Moon, E.T. Girl, Earth Vs. Mars, Elm Street, The Mist etc... Some songs have male vocals, some female.   Did you notice how cool the artwork is? Even before listening to the music you can tell it's going to be great when that much love has gone into packaging it.

  The songs a ballad, it reminded me a little of early Weezer mixed up with a touch of Dan Vapid. My first listen, I thought it was ok but subsequent plays have firmly lodged it in my head. It's a dreamy song that compliments the episode perfectly. Damn, I love it! It's called Ninety Years Without Slumbering...

Chaneys - Lycanthropia

 

  Forming last Halloween's Eve, Chaneys are from Moscow and as they sing about ghosts, werewolves and bloody murders etc. I suppose it's fair to call them a horror punk band. They line up with Gleb Kasady (guitar/vocals, keyboards), John Doe #27 (bass/backing vocals), Myers (guitar) and xDildox (drums). Influences include The Misfits, Blitzkid, Balzac, Send More Paramedics and The Lillingtons.

The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing - Baby Farmer

  A return to the blog today for London's Victorian steampunks The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing. In previous updates I've told you that they formed in 2008, took their name from chalked graffiti left by Jack The Ripper and given you their line up so if there's anymore info you want check their Facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/blamedfornothing/ 

  They reappear here today (emerging like spectres from a thick, swirling Victorian smog) due to the release of their new album. It's titled Double Negative and it's out now on Leather Apron Records on vinyl, cd and download....  https://blamedfornothing.bandcamp.com/album/double-negative

  The album is similar to a collection of penny dreadful short stories with topics covered including the likes of serial killer Jack The Ripper, grave robbers Burke and Hare, the sexual proclivities of Queen Victoria's son Bertie, Polish physicist & chemist Marie Curie etc. Definitely a must listen for those who like their music with a dash of ghoulish relish.

  The song you'll find below concentrates on the crimes of Amelia Dyer. She was a midwife who was hanged in 1896 and is considered to have been Britains most prolific serial killer. Cavaverman - Deadly Touch (featuring Irene Viboras)

 

  Italy's top zombie hunter horror punk band Cavaverman are back on Just Some Punk Songs today with a song from their new ep, Women, Monsters & Cazzottis. The band, a 3 piece featuring Sal Champion, Apocalypse Gio & Doktor Hell have already featured on this blog with songs from their albums James Dead and Tales From Cavafistool and you probably won't be surprised to discover the latest release is more of the same horror themed punk rock that's gone down so well previously. What might surprise you a little is that the song I'm posting today features female vocals courtesy of Irene Viboras of Milan punk n rollers Viboras. Horror Section - Nightmare At 20,000 Feet

  Horror Section are from Missouri and they combine a love of pop punk and horror movies to create the kind of music sounds something like The Ramones partying with The Misfits down at the drive in.   Their latest release is coming out on Eccentric Pop Records and it's a split 10" with Dan Vapid And The Cheats titled Twilight Zone (Vol.1). Nicely timed for the Halloween season it'll feature 3 songs from each band. The Horror Section have just released a William Shatner starring video for one of their songs, this is Nightmare At 20,000 Feet.....

Rebel Flesh - Family Business

 

  Rebel Flesh are from Austin, Texas and feature Jeremiah Ingram (guitar/vocals), Royce (guitar), Chris Dempsey (bass) and Michael Dempsey (drums). They formed towards the end of 2013 and play horror themed punk n roll.

  They released an album in 2014 called I have Become The Night which saw them draw comparisons with the likes of The Misfits, Johnny Thunders and The Damned and they followed it in 2015 with Up All Night. The Jasons - New Wave Girl

  Hailing from Egg Harbour Township, New Jersey, The Jasons are a fun horror punk band featuring 4 hockey masked dudes who go by the names Jason V (lead vocals/lead guitar), Jason 3D (bass/backing vocals), Jason Hell (drums/backing vocals) and Jason R (lead guitar/backing vocals). As you'll no doubt have figured out, they're influenced by Friday the 13th as well as all your favourite old school pop punk bands (Ramones, Screeching Weasel, Queers, Teenage Bottlerocket, etc etc etc). They also wouldn't turn down an invitation to share a stage with Kiss.

Cavaverman - James Dean

  One way to help keep my enthusiasm high for updating this blog every day is that I don't usually know which song I'm going to go with until I actually sit down to post the latest entry. If I hear anything I really enjoy (be it new or old), I'll save the video in my favourites and then post it up pretty much straight away. The drawback with this is that I've a hell of a long list of songs I want to use that got overlooked as I heard something else that demanded my attention.

  Also, occasionally people send me messages on Google Hangouts. As I only ever venture on there if a notification pops up there's a chance I'll miss those messages (especially if, as in the case of a message sent by Gio from Cavaverman last December, it for some reason goes to the spam folder).

  So to kill 2 birds with one stone, today's update is a long overdue appearance by Cavaverman........

  A 3 piece from Monza, Italy, featuring Sal Champion (guitar, vocals, Garand M1), Apocalypse Gio (bass, wrestling) and Doktor Hell (drums, drill), Cavaverman are a "Zombie Hunter Horror Punk" band. Hazarding a guess they're influenced by The Misfits and by far too many obscure horror movies. There's a lot of bands with the same influences but not many that sound as good as these guys.

  They released their debut album, James Dead, in 2013 and it's packed with awesome songs with titles like Welcome To Zombieland, She's A Werewolf and Prince Of Darkness. The following year they gave it a tweak and renamed it James Dead Again. Ideal listening for any forthcoming Halloween parties, both versions feature a zombiefied James Dean on the cover and are available, as is their 8-Bit From Hell ep,  as free downloads here : https://cavaverman.bandcamp.com/.

  They're currently working on album number 2 but whilst we wait for it to crawl out of the grave, here's James Dean.......
