Hopefully I'm not the only one who has fond memories of 1992 when The Wedding Present released a new single every month (and if memory serves, just about managed to get them all in the chart). An impressive feat but one which looks a doddle compared with Das Kapitans' (https://www.facebook.com/daskapitans) intention to release an album every month throughout 2021.
Back in 2019, there was a band from the Peterborough area called Fuzz And The Felts (https://fuzzandthefelts.bandcamp.com/) who came to a (temporary) halt once Covid shut things down. Two members of that band though, Stephen Potter & Simon Bailey, weren't about to let a killer pandemic stifle their creativity and Das Kapitans were born.
We're now in April so that means we're 4 albums into the duo's mammoth undertaking (Joulukuu / #2 / Blah, Blah, Blah / Songs) and happily they're keeping the bar high. Their sound is a mix up of post punk, garage, lo-fi, punk and indie so they don't risk boring us by releasing the same song over and over again. Songs kicks off with Crank and leaves me thinking "this sounds a bit like Idles." The rest of the songs on Songs also have one word titles, all 16 are fairly brief, pretty lively and very good. I recommend you spend that spare couple of quid you've got and go get it : https://daskapitansband.bandcamp.com/album/songs
I could have pretty much highlighted anything off the album but I've gone with one that reminds me of early Wire. It's called Sniperwife....
