Grade 2 - Don't Look Back

A lot's happened for Isle Of Wight band Grade 2 since they last featured on here a couple of years ago (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2017/07/grade-2-pubwatch.html). Most noticeably is their signing to Hellcat Records for whom they're going to shortly release their new album. It'll be titled Graveyard Island and from the 3 songs I've heard thus far it's going to be one of Hellcat's best releases in a while. I played the first 2 of those songs, Graveyard Island and Tired Of It on the show and the latest one is what you're getting on here today. The album is produced by Rancid's Tim Armstrong and it's out on October 11th. It'll be available on vinyl and cd and there's also bundles that include a t shirt. You can pre order it here :   https://uk.kingsroadmerch.com/hellcat-records/artist/?id=965

If you want to experience them live, the Graveyard Island tour will be rolling through the Netherlands and Germany in November once they've finished up their current tour of the States. December sees them touring the UK. They're busy lads!  You can check out dates here :   https://grade2official.co.uk/tour

Just Some Punk Songs started back at the tail end of 2013 (coincidentally the same year as Grade 2 formed) in an attempt to tell people that punk was very much still alive. Though most people might class the late 70's as punk's golden era I'm ever the optimist and hopeful that those best days are yet to come. Either way there's so much great new music being released right now that those nostalgia punks who only listen to their old favourites should really give the new breed a go. They'll find so much to enjoy. They should look forward, not backwards. A similar message is sent by Grade 2 on this rowdy 90 second blast of top notch street punk. Don't relive the past, Don't Look Back....

Tales at the bar From the regular drinkers With their pints of fosters And a dash of lime They’ll re-live the past If you give them the time From the days of football Through to the petty crimes Don’t look back Don’t look back You’re not going that way A Saturday tradition Yet to be broken In their button down shirts And three stripe shoes Filling out another betting slip To beat the blues Old habits die hard But that’s no excuse
