LUVDUMP - Saviour

As they formed as long ago as 2007 I feel I should already be familiar with LUVDUMP (https://www.facebook.com/LUVDUMP) but for some reason they've sailed under my radar. Until now.

From what I can make out, they originally hailed from East Anglia but are now based in Manchester. They "smash together a mix of fast melodic punk, ska-core, reggae and dub with political and socially conscious lyrics." They've released an album (Age Of Austerity), an ep and a single (get them here :  https://luvdump.bandcamp.com/) but then they looked to be calling it a day but seem to have changed their minds. After listening to their brand new record I can only say that that's  good thing.

The new record is titled The Fall Of Icarus and it's available via Pumpkin Records on (very limited 10" vinyl and name your price digital download  https://pumpkinrecords.bandcamp.com/album/the-fall-of-icarus (Everything from digital sales and all profits from Vinyl sales are going to www.operation-solidarity.org in Ukraine).

It's a very fine mini album (maxi ep?). It's fast paced, hard hitting punk (they seem to have forgone the ska, reggae & dub this time around) that has a nice amount of melody and manages not to be too heavy to put me off. Pumpkin Records have also released albums by Rash Decision and F. Emasculata this year, The Fall Of Icarus makes it 3 winners on the bounce for them and makes their Bandcamp page one to bookmark.

The song I'm highlighting is about the problems of the disparity between the haves and the have nots, the rich landlords and the homeless who can't afford extortionate rents. It's about waking up and fighting back, about tearing things down and rebuilding a fairer society. It's called Saviour...
