Rotten Foxes - Over The Ropes
Last year Darren Bourne was kind enough to review a song by Rotten Foxes (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2018/10/rotten-foxes-hamburg-hollenfahrt-review.html). As he's not volunteered his services this time around I suppose the task of writing a couple of paragraphs about their "skull crushing, mind melting" new ep falls to yours truly. Hopefully I don't prove to be too much of a let down.
From Brighton, they're a raucous 4 piece whose first couple of releases were imaginatively titled EPI and EPII. This time around they're getting a little more descriptive by aptly titling their new ep Arrive, Raise Hell, Leave. As they say themselves, it's 4 tracks of the most hotpant melting, skull crushing pure unadulterated filth ever put on 7". A couple of the tracks are available for free download on Bandcamp https://rottenfoxes.bandcamp.com/album/arrive-raise-hell-leave
The band aren't lying. If you like your punk rock to blister paint then this is definitely for you. If you do like them then you'll be sad to know that they're shortly disbanding due to one of them travelling around the world. They may return in a couple of years, they might not but if you want to see details of their last few gigs go here : https://www.facebook.com/rottenfoxes/
This is the closing song on the ep so I guess it's possibly their last song ever. If so, it's a fitting way to bow out. A ringing bell, a roaring crowd and an infectious gang vocal chorus, what's not to love. This is Over The Ropes...
