ROTTEN FOXES - Get Out Of My Head
(Just Pauly Photography)
When I posted a track from Brighton hardcore punks Rotten Foxes' Arrive, Raise Hell, Leave ep last summer (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2019/06/rotten-foxes-over-ropes.html) I mentioned that it was possibly their last release as they were shortly disbanding. Today I bring mixed tidings. Sadly they've reconfirmed that they aren't getting back together but to sweeten that pill, they've just released one final three track ep. It's aptly titled We've Got Nothing Left, it was recorded on the 4th anniversary of their first ever show and I'm very happy to report that it very definitely isn't a case of them sticking out a few substandard songs that they had left kicking around. All 3 are great. Fast, loud and very catchy, you can snap them up as a name your price download here : https://rottenfoxes.bandcamp.com/album/we-ve-got-nothing-left
Track 1 is called Dehumanised (I'll play it on Sunday's Just Some Punk Songs show) and it's a frantic opener that would lead to plenty of sweat (and probably plenty of bruises) if they ever played it live (I'm not sure if they ever did). The closing track is the shortest on offer and I'm still trying to work out all the lyrics bar "leave me alone..." but it's a fine swansong. The meat in the sandwich is the one they've made a video for. Another song that screams leave me alone from a band you'll wish hadn't gone away. This is Get Out Of My Head...

Rotten Foxes - Over The Ropes
Last year Darren Bourne was kind enough to review a song by Rotten Foxes (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2018/10/rotten-foxes-hamburg-hollenfahrt-review.html). As he's not volunteered his services this time around I suppose the task of writing a couple of paragraphs about their "skull crushing, mind melting" new ep falls to yours truly. Hopefully I don't prove to be too much of a let down.
From Brighton, they're a raucous 4 piece whose first couple of releases were imaginatively titled EPI and EPII. This time around they're getting a little more descriptive by aptly titling their new ep Arrive, Raise Hell, Leave. As they say themselves, it's 4 tracks of the most hotpant melting, skull crushing pure unadulterated filth ever put on 7". A couple of the tracks are available for free download on Bandcamp https://rottenfoxes.bandcamp.com/album/arrive-raise-hell-leave
The band aren't lying. If you like your punk rock to blister paint then this is definitely for you. If you do like them then you'll be sad to know that they're shortly disbanding due to one of them travelling around the world. They may return in a couple of years, they might not but if you want to see details of their last few gigs go here : https://www.facebook.com/rottenfoxes/
This is the closing song on the ep so I guess it's possibly their last song ever. If so, it's a fitting way to bow out. A ringing bell, a roaring crowd and an infectious gang vocal chorus, what's not to love. This is Over The Ropes...

They put on some killer shows in Brighton under the Apocalypse Dudes Presents banner, supporting other bands & giving Brighton some of the most fun gigs in the South of England, so if you're in town come & have a beer with them, but don't expect a early night. https://www.facebook. com/Apocalypsedudespresents/ & if you want to look good for the night Jimi also has his own Barbershop so pop in for a trim before the show https://www.facebook.com/ jimisbarbershop13/ and sort out that Mullet.
A new EP is in the works (currently being recorded) & it's going to be vinyl this time, looking for more labels to help out so drop them a message if you like what you hear, it's all about co-operation so the more labels the better, the world needs to hear the Rotten Foxes & every punk rocker needs to experience the live show as we all know that's where Punk Rock is at it's best https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=1i81CWaJz_s&t=6s
