Bovver Bailey - Round The Back Of The Azad

A skinhead rock n roll band from Liverpool today who seem to have been around for maybe 6 years? (they released a demo in 2019 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOA8f-55QiY) but who I've only just come across today..

They're called Bovver Bailey (https://www.facebook.com/BovverBailey) and they're a quartet (Sid - Vocals, Paul - Guitar, Ged - Bass & Piggy - Drums). They've just released a new ep, I'm guessing it's their debut proper release (though I may be wrong). It's one of the best new working class oi releases I've heard for a while, it's definitely got 70's punk/Quo/glam stomp influences and you can find it here : https://bovverbailey.bandcamp.com/album/round-the-back-of-the-azad

This is the title track, it's called Round The Back Of The Azad...

Straight there n' back again N' mind how yer go 'cos the scallies in the alley They reckon, they know That the goth in the offy That got mugged for his bifters Pointed the finger N' somebodys brother got lifted Now there is half a dozen cousins Tearin' round cursin' yer name But they're all just mouth N' they all just talk a good game Seen yer on the corner of Stanley Road Waitin' for a kick off - Ready to go But yer ahl girls always callin' the cops Flashing blue lights across the video shop And if you don't like it & yer feel like fightin' Lad you can go bring yer dad - Alright?! N' anybody else who fancies themselves I'll see yer round the back of the Azad Straight there n' back again in one piece if yer lucky Gettin' rolled for yer dole Outside of the bookies Clobber good n' proper Not one word to the coppers Or I'll see you get stabbed, behind the Happy Shopper! Now there is half a dozen cousins Tearin' round cursin' yer name But they're all just mouth N' they all just talk a good game Seen yer on the corner of Stanley Road Waitin' for a kick off - Ready to go But yer ahl girls always callin' the cops Flashing blue lights across the video shop And if you don't like it & yer feel like fightin' Lad you can go bring yer dad - Alright?! N' anybody else who fancies themselves I'll see yer round the back of the Azad!

The Sorels - Love Your Rock n' Roll

I've got to be honest, I can't remember exactly what the folk in the chatroom said about today's song when I played it on the Just Some Punk Songs show yesterday (I was a bit pissed after watching a rather fun day of football!) but I know they were very impressed.

The Sorels (https://www.facebook.com/thesorels) are a three piece glam rock 'n' roll group from Winnipeg, Manitoba who featured on here last year with their Spring Break single (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2021/01/the-sorels-spring-break.html).

They return today with the title track to their upcoming ep. Lining up with Jo Jo Rodriguez (Vocals/ Bass/Sax), Jennifer Alexander (Guitar) & Jill Lynott (Drums/Vocals), this is a band that you can't help falling in love with. They take you back in time to an era just before the dawn of punk rock where glam, glitter and shiny platform boots ruled the roost. If there's any justice, they'll have a massive hit on their hands. The ep will be on Reta Records and you can pre order it here :  https://retarecords.bandcamp.com/album/love-your-rock-n-roll

No Spoiler - Satana

No Spoiler are from Rome and play a mix of garage punk and glam rock. They formed in April 2017 and feature a line up of Marco (guitar/vocals), Gianka (drums) and Sterbus (bass). They recently released their debut album, it's titled Please! and you can find it streaming here :   https://nospoiler.bandcamp.com/releases

So what does it sound like? To be honest I was pretty much hooked after the first couple of seconds of lead track Teenage Lust. Some tracks are garage rockers which bring to mind fellow countrymen Idol Lips (No Spoilers frontman Marco Cicchella guested on their Street Values album lending his vocals to Feelin' Blue https://idollips.bandcamp.com/track/feelin-blue). Other tracks (such as Game Of Mirrors and Wide Open) are 70's glam stompers that conjure up images of glitter, satin and platform boots. All in all a very enjoyable album. You can get more info on the band here :   https://www.facebook.com/NoSpoilerBand/

All the tracks have English lyrics except the one I'm sharing today but as it's the first single and they've made a video then it'd be rude not to feature it. This is Satana...

Faz Waltz - Julie

I was playing a song from Faz Waltz's new album Double Decker on this week's Just Some Punk Songs show (https://www.mixcloud.com/mick-fletcher/just-some-punk-songs-220418/) when from the chatroom Wayne Elliott asked, "Have you had them on the blog yet?" The day before, I'd noticed they'd released a video for their new single but as it seemed to be continually popping up on my Facebook feed I assumed you'd all probably have stumbled upon it. But what the hell, it's a bloody good song from a bloody good album so let's get it posted....

Just in case you've missed out thus far, Faz Waltz are one of a number of cool bands who are introducing a modern day audience to the sounds of the 70's. Think glam, think glitter, think rock n roll. Think hooligan rock. Think Slade/Sweet/Cheap Trick/T Rex etc.

They're from Cantu, Italy and line up with Faz La Rocca (vocals, guitar, piano), Diego Angelini (bass) and Marco Galimberti (drums). They've been strutting their stuff since 2007 and Double Decker is their 6th album (S/T 2010, Life On The Moon 2011, Back On Mondo 2013, Move Over 2014, Callin' Loud 2016). It's available from Contra Records, Spaghetty Town and Gods Candy or you can pull on your Boogaloo Boots and Jive Jive over to Bandcamp :  https://fazwaltz.bandcamp.com/album/double-decker

They were recently over in the UK and will be back again in July, you can get details of that and other gigs here :  https://www.facebook.com/FAZ-WALTZ-36996846377/

  This is Julie....

Trampoline Team - I'll Destroy You

Here's another great song from 2015 that I missed when it was released towards the back end of last year. It's by Trampoline Team, a band that come from New Orleans and who formed in 2011.

They released the Midlife Crisis ep in 2013 and followed it up last year with the Velveteen Dream 7". They're a trio featuring Sam DeLucia (vocals/bass), Michael He-Man (Hohan) (guitar/vocals) and Shelby Grosz (drums).

The song I'm posting is called I'll Destroy You and it's from their debut album, Make It Faster which was released on Pelican Pow Wow records and you can check it out here : http://trampolineteam.bandcamp.com/album/make-it-faster.

Regular readers will know I'm a sucker for catchy, up tempo, female fronted punk tunes. This ticks all those boxes and more.......
