The Courettes - Bikini Girls With Machine Guns

  

  Some bands are just effortlessly cool. The Cramps certainly fell into that category and so do The Courettes (https://www.facebook.com/courettes).

  The husband & wife duo Flavia & Martin Couri are currently preparing to take the US by storm on an upcoming tour (for which they released the compilation album Boom! Dynamite - An introduction to The Fabulous Courettes : https://thecourettes.bandcamp.com/album/boom-dynamite-an-introduction-to-the-fabulous-courettes) 

  The US tour will commence off the back of their UK tour. 

  They're certainly one of the hardest working bands around. 

  They've also got a song on a new compilation album from Los Angeles label Cleopatra Records. The comp is titled Goo Goo Muck - A Tribute To The Cramps and it features some rather fine covers from the likes of The 69 Eyes, Flamin' Groovies, Fuzztones and more. PowerSolo (Feat. The Courettes) - If I Could Fly

  

  POWERSOLO (https://www.facebook.com/POWERSOLOINFO) are a pretty prolific rock n roll outfit from Aarhus, Denmark who previously featured on here back in 2019 with a song I described as barrelling along with plenty of cool twanging and a fuck you attitude  (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2019/01/powersolo-backstab.html). 

  You'll need no introduction to the equally prolific Courettes (https://www.facebook.com/courettes) who've been on here several times. Courettes' Brazilian born vocalist Flavia Couri played bass for POWERSOLO once upon a time (that's why I've chosen an oldish photo of the band which includes her).

  Today's song sees them both get together for the ultimate rock n roll party (and yes, it has plenty of cool twanging). 

  The new single is one of the tracks that'll feature on POWERSOLO's upcoming album (out May 5th on Crunchy Frog Recordings) Jambalaya - Xtra Spicy and it does a great job of whetting our appetites for what will surely be a very tasty dish. The Courettes - Daydream

  

  There's not much more to say about The Courettes. They've featured on here several times recently and been pretty much everywhere else. They're certainly one of the hardest working bands around with releases and tours galore.

  And they're back today with a song from a new 10" mini album titled Back In Mono (B-Sides and Outtakes). As the name suggests, it's made up of odds and ends that didn't feature on last year's Back In Mono album. 3 new tracks plus a few "B-sides that have been newly spruced up with extra instrumentation."

  You'll already know what to expect so I'll post the opening track, it's one of the new ones, it's a 60's chart smash (or would have been if it had been released in the 60's) and it's called Daydream... 

The Courettes - Salta Il Ramo

  

  Without a doubt, one of the most popular songs I played on yesterday's Just Some Punk Songs show was the new single by Danish/Brazilian husband and wife duo, The Courettes (https://www.facebook.com/courettes). Comments included "Twangtastic!", "Magic" and "I like this band and this is one of their best songs." I'm not sure though if anyone noticed it was an Italian language version of a song of theirs which went down equally as well when I played it last year (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2021/04/the-courettes-hop-twig.html).

  It's just one of the tracks on the single, the flip side being a version of Won't Let You Go (another favourite of theirs which I also featured on here : https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2021/10/the-courettes-wont-let-you-go.html).

  To sum up, it's a brilliant single from one of the best bands around and it features Italian language versions of 2 of their best songs. It was released on 7" vinyl to coincide with their southern European tour and with the recent Record Store Day. The Courettes - So What

  

  Hey guys, The Courettes (https://www.facebook.com/courettes) have a new single out on February 25th. It'll be on Damaged Goods Records and it features a track from their excellent Back In Mono album (Misfits and Freaks) and a new song (Killer Eyes).   But this update isn't about that. 

  It's to highlight a song that features on a release on which The Courettes collaborate with Swiss garage punk trio The Jackets (https://www.facebook.com/thejackets/). Titled Chaputa​!​'s Double Feature Vol​.​4, it's the latest instalment of a series of releases from Chaputa! Records. Both bands contribute a couple of songs each, both bands are on top form. Proving it's possible to sound simultaneously retro and cutting edge, it's a delight. The Courettes - Won't Let You Go

    

  Surfbort aren't the only band who've just released an album of the year contender. Brazilian/Danish married duo Flavia & Martin Couri have had a busy year. You'll probably know them better as The Courettes (https://www.facebook.com/courettes). You've hopefully heard their excellent single Hop The Twig (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2021/04/the-courettes-hop-twig.html). Maybe you caught the cd rerelease of their first 2 albums which came out earlier this year on Damaged Goods Records (https://damagedgoods.co.uk/discography/the-courettes-here-we-are-the-courettes/). Maybe you've even managed to see them on their current UK tour. 

  If you are a fan of the garage rocking twosome then you need a copy of their new album, Back In Mono. Pitched as “spit ´n´snarl garage rumble-meets-Phil Spector pop” it's a modern day classic. It's 14 killer garage rock tracks given an impressive production job. It's the 60's transported into the modern age. It's an album full of delights.   This song reminds me a little of Love You So by The King Khan & BBQ Show (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdMII3JIhjQ). It's a vibrant up tempo rocker that'll have you bopping around. You may recognise it as a reworking of a track from the 2019 Too Late To Say I'm Sorry ep. It's called Won't Let You Go...
