Nancy - Chewin' Bubblegum

Nancy are Brooklyn duo Joe Sussman and Nat Brower and they featured on here way back in 2014 (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2014/09/nancy-get-revvup_5.html). They've been pretty quiet in recent years (though Joe did feature in 2017 with another of his bands, The Muff Divers (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2017/06/the-muff-divers-theres-new-spud-in-town.html)) but have just returned with an excellent new album titled Goes Country. Given that title and then hearing the opening track, Going Country, you'd be forgiven for thinking they'd relocated to Nashville and recorded a country and western album but happily that ain't the case as we quickly discover when the next song, Take A Pikksha, blows us away (anyone else getting a Status Quo vibe!).

Recorded and mixed by the band themselves at Ketchup And Mustard Industries and mastered by the legendary Geza X, the album sounds great. Whacked out garage punk with helium induced vocals lead to comparisons with The Dickies or maybe The Spits. Highlights are aplenty and include tracks such as the aforementioned Take A Pikksha, Luvletter and It's Never 2 Late (2 Be You). You can get the cassette here :  https://ketchupandmustardindustries.bigcartel.com/product/nancy-goes-country-cassette          and the digital download here (it's available name your price) :   https://nancymommy.bandcamp.com/album/goes-country

Nancy - (Get The) Revvup

After a few days of quality old hardcore punk, today we get back up to date with a recent slice of catchy pop punk/rock n roll that might remind you of Mean Jeans or possibly Nobunny. A two piece from Brooklyn, New York, Nancy aren't afraid to add spoonfuls of sugar to their brand of garage punk. As everyone knows, too much sugar can rot your teeth but these guys add just enough to cause your feet to twitch and your heart to soar. I've seen them compared to The Spits and The Ramones which as far as bands to be compared to goes ain't something anyone would be upset about. 2013 saw the release of an 8 track s/t demo lp and this year they follow that up with an infectious 7" single which contains the catchy as hell tracks (Get The) Revvup and (Why Am I) Crying? Rather splendidly, they're available "name your price" here : http://nancymommy.bandcamp.com/ so sling them a few bucks and enjoy a sugar rush. This is (Get The) Revvup......
