So, what went down well on last night's Just Some Punk Songs show? Quite a few of the songs actually and this was certainly one of them.
Roxie & the Razorblades (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61576340464669) are from London and feature Roxie C. (Vocals/Lead Guitar), Queen ElizaDeath (Vocals/Lead Guitar/Rhythm Guitar), Lil' P (Rhythm Guitar), Ivy (Bass) & Sloppy (Drums).
They play an infectious brand of old school street punk and they've just released a very impressive album titled Eat The Rich. They say it deals with "addiction, the gutter, rehab, the evil in the world that strangles all that is beautiful, but more importantly, about hope and overcoming. We sing about that and of course, our beloved Canning Town, Hammers football club."
It's available as a name your price download on Bandcamp so grab a copy and sing along : https://roxietherazorblades.bandcamp.com/album/eat-the-rich
In times like these when you can run foul of those in power for calling for the end to the indiscriminate killing of innocent women and children, this is a band that aren't afraid to call for the liberation of Palestine. They sum things up well in this song, it's called No More War No More Genocide...
Boots hit the pavement stomping hard through the night Gaslights flicker but they can't find what's right Fists in the air and teeth clenched tight Tomorrow ain't promised we fight this fight
No more war no more genocide Tired of the blood tired of the lies Broken bricks and shattered pride No more war no more genocide
Rust on the rails and smoke in the rain We’re swapping our chains for smashes of change Streets torn open red like a vein The screams of the lost still standing in pain
No more war no more genocide Tired of the blood tired of the lies Broken bricks and shattered pride No more war no more genocide
The banners are ragged the boots are worn But the fire in us can't be ignored Oi shouts echo in a back-alley morn Politics for people it’s time to be reborn
No more war no more genocide We've had enough no compromise Locked and loaded the truth won’t hide No more war no more genocide
