Rotary Club - Safety Line

Back in January 2023 I posted a very impressive Killed By Death style punk song called American Tower (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2023/01/rotary-club-american-tower.html). It was the debut single by a band from Reno, Nevada called Rotary Club. I admitted at the time that I didn't know anything about the band and I still don't. The song seemed to be about landline telephones but I didn't really pay much attention to the lyrics, I was too busy bouncing off the walls enjoying the high tempo music.

But now the band have an album upcoming and it appears they're really into their telephones. The album's going to be released on Iron Lung Records on December 13th (on vinyl & digital), it'll be titled Sphere Of Service and with titles such as Touch Tone, My Landline, Phonemate etc it's not difficult to spot a theme running through it.

I don't think there's much doubt it's going to be a great album so ring all your friends and tell them to watch out for it. This is the opening track, it's called Safety Line...

In every current lies a danger: interference from a stranger. Keep it close for your protection, keep it close and stay connected to a safety line. In the circuit, there is power. In the system, there is trust. Plenipotentiary invitation shields the line from deviation. Citizen nodes in the network, signal flows -- you are the safety line. Loop is closed, ground to orbit. No need for copper, voltage stored in common people on a common wire. Never let go of that safety line.

Dead Meat - Son of Sam

London based 4 piece Dead Meat are back with their 2nd ep and like it's predecessor it's somewhat of a ripper. Mixing garage punk with the kind of hard hitting sound that graced the Bloodstains Across and Killed By Death compilations back in the day it's a delight. The line up features Vince Suicide alongside Adrian, Fisher & Pringle (they're from a number of other cool bands such as Kool and the Gangbangers, Suicide Generation, The Cavemen and The Speedways etc).

The ep is available on No Front Teeth Records (https://www.nofrontteeth.co.uk/) and is available in several very limited vinyl versions (300 copies pressed. Total 230 - Individually spray painted onto different coloured leather by Marco NFT, so every single copy will be different. (comes with red card insert). 25 - Limited edition collage cover printed on yellow card with small badge. 25 - Limited edition collage cover printed on Blue card with Large badge. 20 - Super Limited Edition collage cover printed on red card with red arm band) so grab it quick : https://deadmeatpunk.bandcamp.com/album/dead-meat-ii-ep

Each track comes in at a lean, mean 1 minute 50 or less and they could all be described as "the hit" of the ep. I'll be playing a different track on the Just Some Punk Songs show later today (8pm GMT, details here : https://www.facebook.com/events/271921264308963) but the song I'm highlighting now is about 70's American serial killer, David Berkowitz. It's called Son Of Sam...

Paranoias - Misled

Paranoias are yet another one of the multitude of great new punk bands that Australia is producing at the moment. They're from Perth and released an impressively raucous Demo cassette last year (https://paranoiaspunx.bandcamp.com/album/demo). They're back and readying to release their first 7" ep on top local label Helta Skelta Records. It'll be titled Napalm Springs (which as titles go is a great one) and boasts 5 tracks of "snotty, fast paced" punk.

Featuring members of a couple of great bands that I've had on here before (Bikini Cops & Aborted Tortoise) as well as one I haven't (No Future https://nofuturepunk.bandcamp.com/), they're a thrilling  Killed By Death type of energetic old school punk band. I don't think it's the done thing to say they've a female vocalist anymore but I love bands with killer female vocalists so I'm not shying away from the term just yet. Hannah Atcheson is an impressive tour de force fronting a hard rocking outfit that take no prisoners.

This is the opening track, it's called Misled...
