Thatcher's Snatch - White Collar Man

A band very much inspired by your favourite early 80's punk outfits on Just Some Punk Songs today. The song I'm posting reminding me very much, musically, of Tube Disasters by Flux Of Pink Indians (a song which not many others of that era bettered).

Thatcher's Snatch are the wonderfully named quintet from Naam/Melbourne who featured on here early last year with a track from their cracking debut Self Titled ep (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2022/01/thatchers-snatch-wapping-dispute.html).

Tomorrow sees the release of the follow up, the White Collar Man ep, which will be available via Hardcore Victim Records https://hardcorevictim.bandcamp.com/

It's an ep which vocalist Brownie suggests is their “Warhead (UK Subs) banger” (and I can hear that influence as much as the Flux one).

Will it be as impressive as the debut? Going by the evidence of the title track, I'd say Hell Yeah! The band are promising "one ballad with basslines that duck and weave like Stacy Jones at the 2002 grand final and two raging tracks that give high nods to the glory days of Riot City, Clay records and other UK82 classics."

Not long to wait before we enjoy the full ep but to keep us going, here's White Collar Man...

Thatcher's Snatch - Wapping Dispute

"THEY CONTROL THE MEDIA
  THEY CONTROL THE WORLD"

How do you get your new band noticed? Try thinking up a name that'll cause people to do a double take. Thatcher's Snatch (https://www.facebook.com/ThatchersSnatch) have done exactly that, but even more importantly, they're damn good so those people who are tempted to listen to them because of their name will stick around.

I must admit, I missed today's song when the video for it was posted on Youtube back in July but I've finally caught up thanks to the release of the Naam/Melbourne 5 piece's debut Self Titled ep which is out now on Hardcore Victim Records. Despite the band (Dave Brown - Vocals, Lance - Drums, Skinhead Joe - Guitar, Scotty Scallops - Guitar, Snaps - Bass) being based down under, their sound is definitely influenced by the UK82 scene and is pitched as a "blend between the raw fury of Riot City records with the big sound production of early Clay albums!"

The Bandcamp write up tells us that the lyrics on the ep deal with "the insidious relationship between Maggie Thatcher and the Australian born media tycoon Rupert Murdoch, the hate filled and bible fuelled evangelical maniac/rugby player, Israel Folau, mismanaged government funds and general anti authoritarian antics." As you might expect, those lyrics are set to an aggressive and energetic backbeat of authentic sounding, old school punk.

The band recommend you play their music as loudly as possible and I'm not going to argue with them so click the link and turn it up... https://hardcorevictim.bandcamp.com/album/s-t-ep-3

This is the lead track, the one about Maggie subjugating the press, it's called Wapping Dispute...
