Nasty Rumours - Get My Kicks From '76

Short and sweet today my friends, short and sweet...

Nasty Rumours (https://www.facebook.com/nastyrumours) are a power pop / '77 style punk rock band from Bern, Switzerland, who've featured on here several times previously with the most recent of those appearances being last year (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2021/06/nasty-rumours-driving-me-insane.html).

They're a band who remind me of some of my recent favourites in the genre, bands like Cyanide Pills (watch out for a new album from them soon) and The Briefs. I keep banging on about how catchy they are and on the evidence of  the two teaser tracks they've offered up from their new album, nothing much has changed.

The album will be titled Bloody Hell, What A Pity! and it's due out on November 11th via the always reliable Wanda Records. It'll be available on red vinyl and digital download :  https://nastyrumours.bandcamp.com/album/bloody-hell-what-a-pity

This is the opening track, it's a fat free blast of old school punk rock that tells us even if you weren't born when the first wave of killer bands were bringing anarchy and chaos to the stage you can still have that golden era firmly etched into your heart. It's called Get My Kicks From '76...

haven't been born until '89
sheltered childhood in the country side
formed a punk band to kill the time
zero talent and D.I.Y

get my kicks from '76
get my kicks from 1976

you moved on and I moved out
got always something to shout about
safety pins still matter to me
safety pins and anarchy

Nasty Rumours - Driving Me Insane

Well, who'd have thought that Switzerland had so many great punk and garage bands?

Possibly quite a lot of you but if you didn't realise it then you can scratch the surface of a vibrant scene by checking out a new Swiss Punk & Garage Compilation which is out on Lux Noise Records (https://www.luxnoise.com/) and which features previously unreleased music by bands such as Bitch Queens, Bad Mojos, Delilahs and many more.

It also features a band I've posted on JSPS several times previously but haven't heard anything from for a couple of years.

Nasty Rumours (https://www.facebook.com/nastyrumours) are a Powerpop / ‘77 Punkrock band from Bern, Switzerland. I've previously compared them with the likes of Buzzcocks, The Boys, The Briefs, Cyanide Pills etc. Think catchy old school punk and you'll be bang on the money. We might not have heard from them for a while but they haven't lost their knack of turning out a catchy as fuck earworm.

  This is Driving Me Insane...

Nasty Rumours - Straight To Your Heart

(pic by Alain Schenk from soundphoto.ch)

Later today you'll be able to listen to this week's Just Some Punk Songs show (details : https://www.facebook.com/events/470258683466587/) unless you're reading this after it's been on then you'll have to listen on one of the various stations it airs on or wait till next Monday for it to be saved to Mixcloud. There's a great playlist featuring some of the best new punk releases around and it'll include a (different) song by the band I'm posting today.

Nasty Rumours are from Bern, Switzerland and previously featured on here almost exactly 2 years ago  https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2016/10/nasty-rumours-because-of-you.html

Since then they've released a Singles album which (as the title suggests) gathered together their singles and now they've returned with brand new album, Straight To Your Heart. It's available on 12" red/black splatter vinyl from Wanda Records as well as digitally here : https://nastyrumours.bandcamp.com/album/straight-to-your-heart
Think Buzzcocks, The Boys, The Briefs, Cyanide Pills etc and it'll give you an idea of their '77 punk meets power pop sound. The album features 11 catchy tracks and comes highly recommended. As you'd expect, their Singles compilation was pretty damn awesome, jam packed as it was with songs that would have stormed the charts in a more just time and place. What is even more awesome though is that Straight To Your Heart comfortably matches it for top quality, highly addictive punk tunes. This is a band that doesn't release duds.

They're currently touring round Europe and you can get details here :  https://www.facebook.com/nastyrumours/

This is the title track, it's called Straight To Your Heart...

When I’m gone you feel so lonely
You’re sinking fast when you’re not with me
You look at my picture every day
Hey love, I’m on my way

I got a one way ticket straight to your heart

Nasty Rumours - Because Of You

Nasty Rumours are a power pop influenced punk band from Bern, Switzerland who line up Juli (vocals), Flo (bass), Jamous (guitar) and Danny (drums). They're veterans of a number of Swiss bands including The Strapones, Skaladdin, Tight Finks, The Fuckadies, Unhold and Delilahs.

They formed in 2013, have toured Europe sharing stages with the likes of U.K. Subs, Stiff Little Fingers, 999 etc and are currently wowing audiences down in Australia. Next up is a tour of South Africa.

They've released a few singles including their latest split ep with Australian punks Numbskulls which is out now on No Front Teeth Records. You can check those releases out here :  https://nastyrumours.bandcamp.com/

Heavily influenced by the catchier of the late 70's punk scene (The Boys, Undertones, Generation X, The Adicts etc) they also incorporate elements from more recent bands such as The Briefs & Cute Lepers. This is from the new ep and it's called Because Of You.....

Pretty baby you’re not falling for me anymore
No love, No love
Pretty baby you left me and you’re out of the door
Wua-wua-uuu
Pretty baby you’re not falling for me anymore
No love, No love
Pretty baby you left me and you’re out of the door
Wua-wua-uuu

No more heartache
No more heartache – good times are over because of you
