Pkew Pkew Pkew - Before We Go Out Drinking (Reviewed by Spike Forehand)

It's Friday so you're getting another guest review, kindly stepping into the breach today is Spike Forehand. He's contributed a few paragraphs to give his thoughts on Canadian band Pkew Pkew Pkew. Cheers Spike....

Toronto’s Pkew Pkew Pkew write songs that are straight the point.  No bullshit melodrama or vague references to woman or mental health issues.  It’s all drinking, skateboarding, baseball, pissing off the neighbors, pizza, being broke, and drinking some more.  They don’t so much avoid the depressing/self-deprecating shit, but acknowledge it and say, “Fuck it – let’s go drinking – we’ll pay the price tomorrow.”

It’s all played with anthemic power chords and shouted call-and-response lyrics that operate on some weird sub-conscious level to directly link to your fist-pump reflex mechanism.

This formula has landed them gigs on tours with Direct Hit!, Anti-Flag, Reel Big Fish and The Flatliners as well as a slot at Fest the last couple of years.

Their 2016 debut/2017 re-release is called +One and it pretty much kicks ass from stem to stern.  So – grab a beer and visit their bandcamp at https://pkewx3.bandcamp.com/

Here’s one that any self-respecting broke-ass drinker would appreciate, it's called Before We Go Out Drinking...
