Wild Zeros - Dig The Dirt

With influences including the likes of Devil Dogs, Teengenerate, Infections, Crypt and Rip Off Records, Wild Zeros (https://www.facebook.com/wildwildzeros) are a trashy garage rock band from Bordeaux who formed in 2007 and who are making their 3rd Just Some Punk Songs appearance. If you're unfamiliar with them you can check out their music here : https://wildzeros.bandcamp.com/

They've a new 3 track 7" ep called Diggin' It which will be available on June 3rd via Adrenalin Fix, Beast, Heavy Medication Records. Fronted by Bart De Vraantijk (guitar/vocals), who you may also know from Bart And The Brats (https://bartandthebrats.bandcamp.com/), they're a band that keep things at a constant high tempo. All the songs on the ep are frantic paced examples of primitive punk n roll that'll get you off your ass and bouncing round the room. The press release promises thick layers of roaring guitars, galloping bass and the usual heavy-pounding drums and it doesn't lie.

Below you'll see the lead track, the other 2 are equally as impressive. Tough Job has something of a hyper energetic Ramones back beat whilst closing track Did You Dig It just inspires me to write, hell yeah, I did.

This one tells us that somebody's gonna get hurt. It's called Dig The Dirt...

Wild Zeros - Don't Want It, Still Get It

When you hear Bordeaux garage punks Wild Zeros have got a new ep out, it's a time to celebrate. When you realise it's a split with Manchester's Proto Idiot then you know you're getting something very special. The only downside is deciding which song by which band to feature on here as both sides of the ep impress. Then I noticed that Proto Idiot have got a new album out next month called Find Out For Themselves so I'll feature something off that when it's released and in the meantime just point you in the direction of the first video from it...                                     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92VToXCDMbs

So that leaves me to concentrate on Wild Zeros. They featured on here back in January with their cover of The Penetrators' Teenage Lifestyle https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2019/01/wild-zeros-teenage-lifestyle.html. Now they return with the lead track from the aforementioned split. The ep's available on 7" vinyl (limited edition 300 copies) from new French label Permanent Freak Records and you can find the 2 Wild Zeros tracks on Bandcamp :   https://wildzeros.bandcamp.com/album/split-7-w-proto-idiot-permanent-freak-2019

If you're familiar with the band you'll be expecting top quality trashy garage punk and you aren't going to be disappointed. Both of their contributions to the ep knock it out of the ballpark. This one's called Don't Want It, Still Get It...

Wild Zeros - Teenage Lifestyle

Wild Zeros formed in 2007 in Bordeaux and built up a rabid following due to intensive touring and a few killer releases before going on a several years long hiatus. They resurfaced last year with a new ep titled Motormouth and now they're releasing a couple of  7" singles.

Featuring original members Bart De Vraantijk (guitar/vocals) and Adrien Preuilh (bass) plus drummer Francois Jouvenaux ( Magnetix, 60 Second Swingers, Wylde Tryfles...), they're a garage punk band that were recently the subject of gushing praise from the legendary Lord Rutledge when he reviewed one of the new singles http://fasterandlouderblog.blogspot.com/2019/01/wild-zeros-she-knows.html  I'll be featuring the other single today.

Firstly though a couple of links.

Back in 1979, Syracuse rockers The Penetrators released their much revered single Teenage Lifestyle. 40 years later Wild Zeros release their version. It's on Chickpea Records "limited to too few copies" and features original song Vampire girl on the flipside. It's always a risk covering such a highly regarded classic but they pull it off. Cool as fuck rock n roll that sounds as fresh as it did back in the day, this is Teenage Lifestyle...
