Spoilers - Peaches and Cream

Canterbury melodic punks Spoilers (https://www.facebook.com/spoilersuk) return to Just Some Punk Songs today with a jaunty new tune.

They've been on here several times before, most notably with one of the best ever laments to those that have passed away (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2015/11/spoilers-punks-dont-die.html).

They're a band who's sound owes a lot to UK punk legends Snuff. Bassist/vocalist Dan Goatham has, as you quite possibly already know, been a member of Snuff for the last few years.

They're a band who have the knack of writing extremely catchy songs as confirmed by the new single. It's released today on SBÄM Records (https://shop.sbam.rocks/) and you can download it here :  https://spoilersuk.bandcamp.com/track/peaches-cream

  It's called Peaches & Cream...

Spoilers - Roundabouts

One band who caught my, and many other people's, attention 3 years back were Canterbury melodic punk band Spoilers. They burst onto the scene with debut ep Stay Afloat, their song Punk's Don't Die being a particular anthem from that summer. If you missed the ep then I'd advise you to check it out :  https://spoilersuk.bandcamp.com/releases

Since then they've been fairly quiet. There's been gigs (often alongside UK punk legends Snuff) but the only other release was 2016's split ep with No Marks https://bosstuneagerecords.bandcamp.com/album/split-ep-4, (although frontman Dan Goatham put out acoustic versions of 3 of their songs on an ep last year https://dangoathamlrr.bandcamp.com/ ). Yesterday I was pleased to discover they're getting ready to release their debut album. It'll be titled Roundabouts and as well as unveiling a video for the title track, they've made the album available for pre order (4 colour variations for the vinyl) : https://spoilers.bigcartel.com/. It'll be available in the UK via Boss Tunage and Brassneck as well as SBAM Fest (Europe), Little Rocket Records (North America/Canada) and Waterslide Records (Japan).

If you're near Cleethorpes tomorrow you'll be able to catch them sharing a stage with Bad Cop/Bad Cop, Bombpops and Billy Liar whereas next month will see them touring Europe with bands the calibre of Lagwagon, Lillingtons, The Lawrence Arms etc. Check out details here :   https://www.facebook.com/spoilersuk/

As catchy as they ever were, This is Roundabouts...

Spoilers - Punks Don't Die

There seems to have been news of nothing much else recently aside from stories of people dying. I haven't really got the words to properly express my thoughts on either the victims of terrorism or war (wherever in the world it's happening) or on the recent spate of some great musicians passing away at too young an age. Life's precious, cherish it, live it, love it.   R.I.P. to  those that have gone before the bell rang time, this one's for them.

Spoilers are a 4 piece from Kent who got together when Southport bassist/vocalist Dan Goatham joined up with Kenny Razzell, Ben Davis and Leon Packer. Fuelled by a love of catchy, melodic punk, as played by bands like Snuff, HDQ, China Drum, Osker, Face To Face, Gorilla Biscuits etc, they hooked up with Boss Tunage and Brassneck Records to release one of 2015's best albums. Hopefully most of you are already familiar with them but for anyone who wants a sampling of their sound then head this way ........... https://bosstuneagerecords.bandcamp.com/album/stay-afloat

Watch out for them next February when they'll be supporting Snuff on their 30th anniversary tour. This song is called Punk's Don't Die......
