Incisions - Rot

"Is it change that we all want?"

Incisions (https://www.facebook.com/incisionsmcr) are from Manchester. They feature a line up of Jordan (Vocals), Martin (Guitar/Vocals), Ken (Bass/Vocals) & Tet (Drums). They've featured on here previously with 3 fast and furious hardcore punk tunes.

Today they return with a highlight from a new ep which will surely see them once again making the annual Just Some Punk Songs end of year chart.

The ep is titled Living Proof and it sees the band barreling through 5 exhilarating anthems in under 10 minutes. The whole thing kicks off with a salutary warning about how we're heading towards a world without the cancer of humanity. It's a great introduction to arguably their best release yet (though I'm sure that's a statement that'll be up for dispute as the competition is tough). Decide for yourself (name your price) here : https://incisionsmcr.bandcamp.com/album/living-proof

If you like what you hear you can catch them at the Manchester Punk Festival at the end of this month

My favourite (thus far) from the ep would be this. Proving hardcore punk songs can be tenderly wrapped in gorgeous melodies, this is called Rot...

Incisions - Mine To Lose

Incisions (https://www.facebook.com/incisionsmcr) are from Manchester. Their last Just Some Punk Songs appearance was just over a year ago when I posted a "hardcore banger" from their excellent Bliss album (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2021/03/incisions-repeat-prescription.html).

They return today with a new single that "takes us on a journey from the depths of regret through the pain of losing yourself to your vices." It's a song that's "about being a legend and spending money you haven’t got on having a good time."

They're a band that are known for frantic hardcore punk but they may be toning things down slightly with this single being pitched as owing as much to Rocket From The Crypt as it does to Poison Idea. It's supposed to show a more considered approach with regard to songwriting but to be honest, it's all relative, it still sounds pretty damn fast and loud to me. Bloody good it is too. Released on TNS Records, you can find it here : https://tnsrecords.bandcamp.com/track/mine-to-lose

  It's called Mine To Lose...

Incisions - Repeat Prescription

It's Friday so we may as well finish the week with another hardcore banger.

Incisions (https://www.facebook.com/incisionsmcr) are the Manchester noise makers who featured on here back in 2018 with their anti war anthem War In Your Head (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2018/10/incisions-war-in-your-head.html). It was a trailblazer for their debut Self Titled album (https://tnsrecords.bandcamp.com/album/incisions) and suggested we were in for something fast, furious and fun. And that's exactly what we got.

Jump forward to the present and they're preparing to release album number 2. Titled Bliss, it'll be out on TNS Records on April 2nd. They've been stoking up anticipation by drip feeding us a series of teaser tracks. No Shame was a dissection of a life lived in the shadows of other people's expectations whilst Fuck The World was a harsh look at the state of the world and a commentary on the punk scene's divided reaction to it "And all the punk bands are singing happy songs. At least while the world burns you can all sing along."

You can pre order Bliss here :

The concluding song of this "teaser trilogy" is accompanied by the rather cool video you'll find below. Tackling themes of addiction, self doubt and loss of control, this is Repeat Prescription...

Don’t wake me when you leave But make sure I can still breathe Can’t afford a repeat prescription Spent all my money on drug addiction I am in too deep
There’s no way to retrieve This life I’m trying to leave Can’t afford a repeat prescription Spent all my money on drug addiction I can never sleep
Can’t feel anything from the neck down I know I’m gonna die but I can’t slow down No I can’t deny that it’s my fault But I’m still gonna do Whatever I want

Incisions - War In Your Head

Incisions are an energetic 4 piece hardcore punk band from Manchester with a line up of Jordan (guitar/vocals), Archie (bass), Steab (guitar) and Andy (drums). Forming in 2015, they've released 3 eps - Deep Cuts, Scabs, Quit Now and you can check them out here :  https://incisionsmcr.bandcamp.com/

Yesterday it was announced they'd joined local label TNS Records (who've released music by the likes of Revenge Of The Psychotronic Man, Wonk Unit, The Domestics, Faintest Idea, Nosebleed, Matildas Scoundrels, Grand Collapse, Pizzatramp and many more). They'll be releasing their debut S/T album soon (watch out for details here : https://www.facebook.com/incisionsmcr/) and they've given us an idea of what to expect in the form of a new single. It's titled War In Your Head and you can download it name your price here :  https://tnsrecords.bandcamp.com/album/war-in-your-head

This song hits out at the uncaring leaders of nations that send their young men out to die in needless wars. Hopes for the album are high. War In Your Head...
