Cyanide Pills - Day After Day

  

  A song today from an album I've been eagerly anticipating for what seems like ages.

  I'd probably go as far as to say that Leeds power pop punks Cyanide Pills (https://www.facebook.com/cyanidepillsuk) are my favourite current band. They've featured on here several times previously (most recently in February 2022 with the opening track of the new album  https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2022/02/cyanide-pills-kids-cant-be-trusted-with.html) so I don't need to give you too much info on them. I just need to switch to capital letters and say CHECK OUT SOUNDTRACK TO THE NEW COLD WAR.

Cyanide Pills - The Kids Can't Be Trusted With Rock 'n' Roll

  

  Do you wanna know who are the catchiest UK punk band since The Buzzcocks? 

  Well that would be Cyanide Pills (https://www.facebook.com/cyanidepillsuk)

  They're one of those bands that you just know are going to turn out a classic whenever they get into the recording studio. They know how to exactly pair up the melody of power pop with the grittiness of punk rock to conjure up music that would definitely have bothered the upper reaches of the charts and been on regular mainstream radio rotation if it had been released in the late 70's. You probably already know and love their 3 studio albums, Cyanide Pills (2010), Still Bored (2013) & Sliced And Diced (2017). You'll definitely be looking forward eagerly to their new album which is scheduled for later this year.

  Will the new album be a departure for the band or will it be more lovingly crafted musical ear worms? The obvious answer after listening to their new single appears to suggest it's business as usual.

Cyanide Pills - Stop And Search

  Hurrah!  Leeds' finest, Cyanide Pills, are back. Already with 2 classic albums (Cyanide Pills & Still Bored) under their belts, they've announced that lp3, Sliced And Diced, will be out on Damaged Goods in March. If the song below is any indication they'll soon be 3 for 3.

  The last we heard from them was on 2015's Conservative bashing Government single, this time around they're battling the boys in blue and their stop and search policy. As you'd expect it's more of the same upbeat, catchy Buzzcocks/Briefs type of spikey pop "n" punk with lyrics about the targetting of young black men and the only people who say the tactics work being those who never get searched. All this and a brief killer riff that brings to mind Shot By Both Sides.

Cyanide Pills - Waiting (For You to Call Me)

 
Leeds' Cyanide Pills were one of the first bands to appear in this blog, and as I noticed that their most recent single had just made an appearance on Youtube I thought that now would be a good time to give them another shout out. If you aren't familiar with their brand of catchy Buzzcocks/Briefs inspired pop punk then you really are missing out, I'm not exaggerating when I say that they're victims of their time. If they were releasing these records back in the golden era of punk they'd have had a string of top 40 hits by now. 2014 has been spent recording their highly anticipated 3rd album and they've been busy gigging (they've recently completed a successful tour of Spain). To tide us over whilst we wait for the new material, this is a song that came out last November on Damaged Goods Records, it's called Waiting (For You To Call Me) and it's great......
