Crashed Out - Warchild

"The production job on this is great, they've made a great step forward, it's their best release yet. I've just ordered the cd."

That was just one of the very positive comments in the chatroom when I played today's song on a recent Just Some Punk Songs show. Unsurprising really as it is a damn good album.

Crashed Out (https://www.facebook.com/crashedout.uk) are from Jarrow in the north east of England and have been around since 1995. They've just released a new album titled Against All Odds (you may remember I featured the title track over 2 years ago   https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2020/04/crashed-out-against-all-odds.html).

It was a very impressive song and it kicks off a very impressive album. It's also quite a lengthy album, boasting a value for money 16 tracks clocking in at almost an hours runtime. It's powerful street punk with plenty of singalong choruses about topics such as making your own rules, groundhog days at work, mental health issues, World War 1 & non league football. You can get it on vinyl and cd from Demons Run Amok Entertainment :  https://bit.ly/3JiEfWE

This track is another with a war theme, it's sadly all too topical, it's called Warchild

Gotta keep running through the war torn city,
Gotta survive he's on his own,
Past the bombed school and burnt out car,
Down to the ruin that he once called home,

Born with bombs flying overhead,
And drones that film from the cordite sky,
The western world is just a fantasy,
He saw it once on an old tv,
War-child in the war torn city,
Gotta survive the living hell,
He joined the masses and the exodus,
Looking for utopia that doesn't exist.

Chorus: Warchild on the run
Keep on running keep on running
Warchild got no home
Keep running keep running
Keep running
Through the bombed out streets tonight

Apocalyptic playground for the orphaned child,
Hungry and alone he's left to roam wild
His father got killed like his best friends dad,
His mother couldn't cope and slowly went mad

Warchild on the run
Keep on running keep on running
Warchild got no home
Keep running keep running
Keep on running keep on running
Keep running keep running
Keep running
Through the bombed out streets tonight

Crashed Out - Lockdown Blues

Rejoice my fellow Brits, 'tis the season to to be jolly and as we all know, on Christmas Day, the Corona Virus will be taking a well earned day off and we can all relax our guard and meet up with our families. Only for the one day though as the following day we'll all be back to staying alert, keeping our distance and listening to government briefings. This time around it looks as though restrictions will be getting tighter as the virus mutates it's way into 2021.

Crashed Out (https://www.facebook.com/crashedout.uk), the veteran melodic 4 piece street punkers from Jarrow have kept busy during the pandemic recording a new single. It features their reinterpretation of an Eddie Cochran classic and pairs it up with a cover of Motorhead favourite Ace Of Spades. It's available digitally with all proceeds going towards helping keep Trillions Rock Bar (a live music venue in the heart Newcastle Upon Tyne) going during these difficult times. You can get it here :  https://crashedout.bandcamp.com/album/lockdown-blues-ace-of-spades

Classic tune, modern day lyrics, this is Lockdown Blues...

I get up at noon what will I do I wonder, I have a cup of coffee and I take a long shower, Walk the dog watch tv everyday I do the same? I'm a lazy sod and the virus is to blame, because of Corona and it ain’t a little flu, Cos they ain’t no cure for The lockdown blues I’m on a lockdown and it’s a weird situation, like a ghost town and it’s right across the nation, Covid is to blame that’s what we got to fear Don’t have to go to work so I have another beer, because of Corona and it ain’t a little flu, Cos they ain’t no cure for The lockdown blues I Gotta get away I really need a vacation, But I’m sitting tight waiting for the vaccination, This ain’t going away and we gotta face the facts, Well that’s what you get if your gonna eat bats, because of Corona and it ain’t a little flu, Cos they ain’t no cure for The lockdown blues

Crashed Out - Against All Odds

Crashed Out (https://www.facebook.com/crashedout.uk/) are a melodic street punk quartet from Jarrow in the North East of England who formed in 1995 and who's current line up features Chris Wright (Vocals), Lee Wright (Guitar/backing vocals), Spin Brown (Bass) and Carlos Bennett (Drums). It's Lee Wright's second appearance on here this week as he's also a member of Monkey Mind.

They name amongst their influences the likes of AC/DC, Rancid, Motorhead and The Dickies. It's quite possible you've caught them live as they've shared a stage with a plethora of genre greats including Rancid, The Adicts, The Undertones, The Misfits, The Damned, The Dead Kennedys, Stiff Little Fingers and The Levellers. They've a lengthy back catalogue and they were hoping to release their first new album in 10 years in time for this year's Rebellion Festival but I suppose like everything at the moment those plans lie on shifting sands. There is however a new track...

This is an outsider anthem, a song for all those who struggle to fit in. A big tune with a catchy chorus and energy aplenty. Let's keep our fingers crossed for that album. Against All Odds...

This ones for ‪the un-achievers‬  The underdogs and unbelievers  The girl who struggles and misunderstood  They said you'd fail and your no good  And the boys the ones who don't fit in  Not giving a chance but fight to win Them who fight back and come back for more, Those at the bottom who kick down the door,   Chorus X2 They think they know  They got you wrong  Rise above against all odds The kids with nothing and nothing to loose Do it yourself  be nobody's fool Stand your ground I stand with you  I'll fight your corner if you want me too Make your own rules do your own thing  Get the last laugh and live to win  Hold your head high stand out from the crowd  Viva le punk shout it out loud  Chorus X2 They think they know  They got you wrong  Rise above against all odds Middle 8 Punk rock is our religion said my brothers from across the sea. Bring on the next generation anger is an energy.  anger is an energy. Chorus X2 They think they know  They got you wrong  Rise above against all odds
