Booji Boys - Stevie Cool
A new record by Halifax, Nova Scotia, favourites Booji Boys is always a good reason to get excited, especially when it's a new album. It's only been 3 years since they surfaced with their 6 track demo but since then they've been pretty damn prolific with a plethora of garage punk inspired releases. Back in April they gave us a taster of the new album in the form of a 3 track promo tape, now the full thing, titled Tube Reducer, has dropped and it's everything we expected or hoped for. The vinyl version is due out in August from Drunken Sailor (preorder : http://www.drunkensailorrecords.co.uk/products/646006-booji-boys-tube-reducer-lp-drunken-sailor-records-drunkensailor-115) but digitally it's available name your price here : https://boojiboysfuneral.bandcamp.com/album/tube-reducer
Lining up Justin Crowe (drums), Steve Earle (guitar), Cody Googoo (guitar), Adam LeDrew (bass) and Alex Mitchell (vocals), The Booji Boys have a happy knack of writing catchy pop songs before scuffing them up in their own unique way. What are they singing about? In the main, I haven't got a clue but I don't really care as I'm bouncing off the walls. It's pretty much indecipherable but it's great fun.
Repeat plays offer up new joys but this is an early favourite, it's called Stevie Cool...

Booji Boys - Sister
One of the best labels of 2017 has been Drunken Sailor Records. Possibly the most eagerly awaited release still to come this year, amongst the listeners of the Just Some Punk Songs show, is the new album by The Booji Boys. Today's update features both and throws in a superb "name your price" 21 track compilation as well.
From Halifax, Nova Scotia, Booji Boys previously featured on here at the start of the year with a song from their self titled album (http://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/booji-boys-dream-of-booji.html) and have since released the Sweet Boy ep (which includes their take on an Undertones classic) and a cover of Gang Green's Sold Out. You can check out all their released material here : https://boojiboysfuneral.bandcamp.com/
Drunken Sailor have put out releases by many bands that have appeared on here including TV Crime, Downtown Boys, First Base, Liquids, Cheap Whine etc. They've collected together a track from each of their 2017 releases and made them available name your price here : https://drunkensailorrecords.bandcamp.com/album/2017-sampler
Go snap it up now, it's essential listening.
The new Booji Boys album is called Weekend Rocker and it'll be out in time for Christmas. From the comments I've heard it's going to be a classic. There was a very limited (17 copies!) vinyl version available to the public in October but the rest of us will have to wait a while longer to hear it. There is however a video for one of the songs, this is Sister.....

Booji Boys - Dream Of Booji
With their Devo inspired name you'd think Booji Boys might have a sound that's slightly quirky and you'd be right. Basically they're purveyors of catchy garage / pop punk tunes but thanks to the raw recording they sound a little other worldly. Some of you may be put off by this, others will fall in love.
From Halifax, Nova Scotia and featuring members from bands such as Fragment, Grump, Negative Rage, Science Project & Alienation, they've been picking up plenty of comparisons with a couple of other bands that've featured on this blog, Coneheads and Liquids. They've previously released a demo tape, a practice tape and a promo tape and now they're unleashing their debut self titled album. If you're quick, you might be able to pick up vinyl copies from Drunken Sailor ( http://www.drunkensailorrecords.co.uk/products/585950-booji-boys-st-lp-drunken-sailor-records-drunkensailor-066 ), otherwise you can get the digital download (along with the earlier releases) "name your price" here... https://boojiboysfuneral.bandcamp.com/
This song illustrates pretty much what they're all about, a killer pop hook, a garage back beat and a wave of distortion, this is Dream Of Booji....
