Those Fucking Snowflakes - Stop Being Dickheads To Each Other

  Today I'm posting the song that got the most positive reaction when I played it on Sunday's Just Some Punk Songs show. It's a topical plea that asks, as we all live together under the same sun, can we possibly be a little nicer towards each other. It also asks if we can stop voting Tory. Hopefully you'll all do both.

  Those Fucking Snowflakes are a 3 piece noisy post-hardcore band from Blackpool who formed in 2018 and features members of Dinosaurs Are Shit Dragons, Litterbug, Uncle Paul, Oceans Over Alderaan, Goonies Never Say Die and "a shitload of other abhorrent bands." Those members are Lord Barquin Parkinson-Mumbang (vocals & guitar), Caspian-Johnson III (drums & vocals) and Sexy Lumberjack Dan (bass & vocals).   This song is the lead track on their upcoming debut ep, You Ok Hun? It'll be released on December 6th and I'm guessing it'll be well worth checking out. Petrol Girls - Big Mouth

  Is it just me or is the UK punk scene fucking great at the moment. Obviously on the downside there's pretty much no acknowledgement of it's existence from any major media outlets and many of the bands are struggling to attract people to turn out to their gigs but as far as the music being released is concerned it's a wonderful time to be a punk. To highlight some of that music, I put together a UK special show last week (https://www.mixcloud.com/mick-fletcher/just-some-punk-songs-uk-special/) and Petrol Girls weren't even in it! Mainly because I'd played them the week before but also because there's so many bands out there I could only scratch the surface.

  Anyway, Petrol Girls, no strangers to this blog... named after a group of molotov cocktail throwing French revolutionaries (Petroleuses) are now based in Austria (another reason for not featuring them on the show). They line up with Ren Aldridge (vocals), Joe York (guitar/vocals), Liepa Kuraite (bass/vocals) and Zock (drums). They play angry feminist post-hardcore songs and new album, Cut & Stitch, is their most experimental record yet.   This song is a fine example of what they're about, it's a feminist anthem which samples Poly Styrene and tackles the subject of many marginalised groups only being tolerated when they're quiet. It's called Big Mouth...

Saccharine Trust - I am Right

 
  Today's song is by Saccharine Trust, the Californian post-hardcore band that was formed in 1980 by vocalist Jack Brewer and guitarist Joe Baiza. The song that I'm posting featured on their 1981 Paganicons ep and is called I Am Right.

  The reason I'm posting it is because it featured on a new online radio show called Stench Of Hardcore. Hosted by former Discharge/Flux Of Pink Indians/Dr And The Crippens drummer Dave Ellesmere, it features the best punk and hardcore music around. Also featured is a weekly section called Mick's Pick in which I've been asked to select a band to spotlight a song by (last night's debut Mick's Pick was by Wolf Bites Boy).
