The Trouble Seekers - Nervous

  

  The Trouble Seekers (https://www.facebook.com/TheTroubleSeekers) are the Los Angeles new wave duo Kevin McGovern (The Prostitutes) and Hillary Burton (The Pandoras/Honeychain). Since the beginning of last year they've released an album and a number of singles and now they're back with possibly their best single yet.

  There's 2 tracks, both worthy of being called the A side (so lets call it a Double A Sided single) and this time around they've punked things up a little. It's available as a digital download and there's also a pre order available for a limited edition cassette (100 copies) which not only includes both songs but also adds an alternate mix of MISTAKE, the 14 track debut LP and a sticker.  https://thetroubleseekers.bandcamp.com/album/nervous-scream-2

The Trouble Seekers - Falling In A Dream

  

  A welcome return to Just Some Punk Songs today for Los Angeles duo The Trouble Seekers (https://www.facebook.com/TheTroubleSeekers). They're the new wave/dark glam outfit made up of Kevin McGovern (The Prostitutes) and Hillary Burton (The Pandoras/Honeychain). As you may know if you saw my previous write up on them (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2022/01/the-trouble-seekers-cruel-summer.html), they take elements of punk and new wave and experiment with getting new sounds. They sound instantly familiar but slightly different. They sound heavily influenced by the 80's but at the same time fresh and modern day.

  I featured their first single, Cruel Summer, and that reappears as one of many highlights on their debut, Self Titled, album. They serve up 14 tracks with Kevin and Hillary sharing vocal duties and they add occasional synth to the mix to enrich proceedings.

The Trouble Seekers - Cruel Summer

  

  Kevin McGovern is a familiar name to readers of Just Some Punk Songs, he's been rocking out as frontman of The Prostitutes (https://www.facebook.com/tutespunk) since 1995. A name maybe not quite as familiar on here is Hillary Burton though she's also been active on the scene as drummer with The Pandoras and more recently as vocalist & guitarist with Honeychain (https://honeychain.bandcamp.com/). 

  Kevin mentioned to me a number of years ago that he was looking to enhance The Prostitutes' sound by adding female vocals to the mix, now at long last that aim has come to fruition in the form of an aggressive, new wave/experimental punk duo called The Trouble Seekers (https://www.facebook.com/TheTroubleSeekers/). 

  With The Prostitutes you knew that you were guaranteed classic sounding US punk rock done with both energy and style. The Trouble Seekers bring more of the same but the addition of those female vocals certainly adds to the mix. The debut single has been released and is streaming on Bandcamp (https://thetroubleseekers.bandcamp.com/releases). It'll be followed in the summer by a debut album via Rock n Roll Manifesto Records. 

  A heady brew of old school punk mixed with garage pop swagger, this is a very promising calling card, it's called Cruel Summer...
