The Spook School - Still Alive
Glasgow indie pop punx The Spook School return to Just Some Punk Songs today with a song from their upcoming 3rd album, Could It Be Different? The album will be released in January on Alcopop! (Slumberland in the States). If you're as of yet unfamiliar with the band, you can check out their previous releases here : https://thespookschool.bandcamp.com/
They've been together since 2012 and play the kind of feel good sounding indie music that whilst appearing all upbeat and fun features lyrics that address more serious themes such as sexuality, equality and in the case of the song you'll find below, abusive relationships. It's music to engage both your feet and your mind.
They'll be touring the UK for the rest of October along with Diet Cig and you can check out the dates on Facebook.... https://www.facebook.com/thespookschool/
This is the video for the new song, Still Alive, and it's really rather good....

The Spook School - Speak When You're Spoken To
The Spook School are a band from Edinburgh who like to have a good time whilst playing noisy pop music. Do they belong on a punk blog? Hell yeah, if great bands like Martha, Spoonboy, No Ditching etc belong on here then The Spook School's jangle pop gems will fit in nicely.
Influenced by the likes of David Bowie, The Buzzcocks, The Shop Assistants etc, they formed in 2012 and comprise of brothers Nye and Adam Todd plus Anna Cory and Niall McCamley.
Their debut album, Dress Up, was released in 2013 on Fortuna POP! and is an exploration of gender, sexuality and queer issues whilst the follow up, Try To Be Hopeful came out last year. You can check them out, along with their various singles, here : https://thespookschool.bandcamp.com/
With a UK tour booked for the summer, as well as a return visit to the USA (following their recent appearance at Austin, Texas' SXSW), their star will only continue to rise. This is their latest video, it's for their song Speak When You're Spoken To........
