The Mugwumps - Don't Give Up
Forming in 2002 and hailing from Innsbruck, The Mugwumps are Chris (guitar/vocals), Hank (bass) and Andy (drums). I posted a bit of info about them back in 2015 when I featured a song from their excellent Mutation In The Family album (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2015/01/the-mugwumps-hold-onto-your-heart.html). Now they're back with a new long player.
Out on Monster Zero Records, the new album (their 4th) is titled Clown War Four, it's available on vinyl (https://monsterzerorecords.com/products/the-mugwumps-clown-war-four-lp), cd (https://monsterzerorecords.com/products/the-mugwumps-clown-war-four-cd) and digitally (https://monsterzerorecords.bandcamp.com/album/clown-war-four).
You probably know what to expect from the band by now.... quality Ramones influenced pop punk and that's exactly what you get. There's a bunch of love songs but also a few (like the title track) that are more politically influenced The album is a blast so check it out. You can find more info on them here : https://www.facebook.com/themugwumps/
This is one of the slower songs, a plea for those of us that are facing difficulties in our lives to keep on going. It's called Don't Give Up...

The Mugwumps - Hold Onto Your Heart
A song today from one of the best album's of 2014, it wasn't easy selecting a favourite as there's several on the Mutation In The Family that could claim that title but in the end the wonderful buzzsaw guitar sound throughout track 5 won out.
The Mugwumps, from Austria, got together in 2002 when 3 friends decided to alleviate their boredom by forming a band. Comprising of Chris Mug (guitar/vocals), Hank Hollywood (bass) and Andi Hectic (drums), they announced themselves with a demo ep in 2004 before returning in 2006 with the Slit Your Tire 7". The following year saw them put out a debut album called Banana Brain as well as the Do Time With The Mugwumps ep.
After this, things went quiet for a few years but just when you thought you'd heard the last of them they were back, better than ever, with 2014's Mutation In The Family. a pop punk masterpiece that came out on Monster Zero and It's Alive Records and which stands up well when compared to some of the great bands which inspired them (the likes of The Queers, Screeching Weasel, Teenage Bottlerocket etc....). Don't just take my word for it, check them out for yourselves..... http://themugwumps.bandcamp.com/
This is Hold Onto Your Heart........
