Otoboke Beaver - I Am Not Maternal
Otoboke Beaver (https://www.facebook.com/Otobokebeaver22/) are a band that have always proved popular whenever I've played them on the show or featured a song by them on here (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2018/04/otoboke-beaver-anata-watashi-daita-ato.html). A quick recap : They're a 4 piece punk band from Kyoto featuring a line up of Accorinrin (guitar/vocals), Yoyoyoshie (guitar/backing vocals), Hiro-chan (bass/backing vocals) and Kahokiss (drums/backing vocals). They're currently touring around Europe and the UK (check out Facebook for dates) and they've released a new single (which I'm enthusing about today). It's available via Damnably Records and you can check it out here : https://otobokebeaver.bandcamp.com/
The title of the single is in English so we know pretty much what the song is about but I've also used Google to translate the Japanese lyrics and it throws up lines of verse like "Calm down, my emotional hormone balance in deeply salute, dog is like my favorite dog like my dog"... "other people's affairs'm not a child abuse" and "generation to generation extremely self-realization ancestors."
Do you know what, forget Google translations, just sit back and enjoy a rollicking good punk song. This is I Am Not Maternal...

Otoboke Beaver - Anata Watashi Daita Ato Yome No Meshi
Another band that wowed the chatroom crowd during the latest Just Some Punk Songs show (https://www.mixcloud.com/mick-fletcher/just-some-punk-songs-170418/) were Japanese girl band Otoboke Beaver. They're from Kyoto, play kick ass garage punk and feature a line up of Accorinrin (guitar/vocals), Yoyoyoshie (guitar/backing vocals), Hiro-chan (bass/backing vocals) and Pop (drums/backing vocals). They formed in 2009 whilst at Koyoto University's music club and they take their name from a local "love hotel."
A couple of months ago they released a 7" single (apologies for totally mispronouncing the title on the show) and you can find it, along with plenty more of their releases, on Bandcamp : https://otobokebeaver.bandcamp.com/album/anata-watashi-daita-ato-yome-no-meshi-2
They're currently gigging over in the UK (the final gig is in London tonight) before they head across the Atlantic to play the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Check out details here : https://www.facebook.com/Otobokebeaver22/
It's 2018 and people have been saying punk is dead for the best part of 40 years. Proving those people totally wrong, this is Anata Watashi Daita Ato Yome No Meshi....
