The Cavemen - Dog On a Chain

Not that long ago I posted a track from the latest album by New Zealand garage rock n rollers The Cavemen. I also played several songs from the album (available here : https://thecavemennz.bandcamp.com/) on the Just Some Punk Songs show and they always went down a storm so it's a bit of a no brainer that I'm going to post a track from their new ep. Titled Death Row, it features 3 new tracks and is released on June 2nd on Slovenly Recordings (169 copies will be limited edition pink vinyl). Check it out here :  https://slovenly.bandcamp.com/album/the-cavemen-death-row

With a successful mini tour of Portugal just completed they've several other European gigs lined up throughout the summer so check them out if they're playing anywhere near you. Dates are on Facebook ...  https://www.facebook.com/thecavemennz/

The band promise that the song you'll see below is only the second best of the new 3 tracks. A bold claim given that it's an awesome down and dirty modern garage classic featuring excellent back and forth female/male vocals and some really rather wonderful guitar playing. Check it out, this is Dog On A Chain.....

Pale Lips - Candy Song

Moving away from the politics and social issues that seem to have dominated over the last week or so, today's update is a fun slice of "drippy mascara slopped rock n roll with sprinkles!

Pale Lips play a poppy garage rock type of music that'll maybe not appeal to some of the harder rocking readers of this blog but which will hopefully get the rest of you smiling and tapping your foot. They're from Montreal, played their first ever gig in January 2014 and have just released their debut Got a Sweet Tooth single through the excellent No Front Teeth Records. You can check it out here : https://palelips.bandcamp.com/

They've already shared a stage with the likes of Sonic Avenues, Needles//Pins, Average Times and Peach Kelli Pop and next month they'll be playing with Belgian punk legends The Kids.

Here's the first track from the single, it's a song that'll give you a sugar rush and it's called Candy Song.......

Peach Kelli Pop - Dreamphone

Drummers. Human metronomes that sit at the back of the stage and bash away on their kits. Are often replaced (or die if you believe Spinal Tap).

Allie Hanlon, from Ottowa (now Los Angeles), was a drummer. Not content on keeping time for others she took up the guitar and began writing and recording her own songs. Taking the name Peach Kelli Pop from a song by Redd Kross and backed by an assemblage of female musicians, she's the new queen of jangly, catchy as hell garage pop 'n' roll. Inspired by artists as diverse as The Spice Girls and The Plasmatics, there's so far there's been two albums, both self titled, and a smattering of singles. Album number 3 is out in April on Burger Records and you can stream a song from it called Princess Castle 1987, here : https://soundcloud.com/peachkellipop/princess-castle-1988

Until I hear the new material I'm posting my favourite song so far. This Is Dreamphone......

Sometimes when I'm missing you
I want to call you up on my dream phone
under my pillow baby blue
I can I call only when I think of you
when I wish you were here at home
I call you up on my dreamphone
I let it ring and ring some more
wishin' you'd show up at my door

Dreamphone (dreamphone) dreamphone (dreamphone)

Sometimes when I'm missing you
I want to call you up on my dream phone
under my pillow baby blue
I can I call only when I think of you
I wanna kiss your happy feet
I wanna hear your voice so sweet
but I'm here in my room alone
wishin you'd pick up the phone.
