Boyracer - Fleetwood Mac Are Shite

Today I bring you the best Fleetwood Mac related song since Mike Rogers from The Rotters invited Stevie Nicks to sit on his face (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKtASyCinfc).

Hopefully you're all familiar with Boyracer. Formed in Wetherby by vocalist/guitarist Stewart Anderson in 1990, they blurred the lines between indie and punk with a string of cool releases on labels such as Sarah Records and Slumberland. They've remained a band worth keeping an eye on despite numerous line up changes and a move to Flagstaff, Arizona. They've featured on here several times, most recently with a track from their 13th album On A Promise  https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2020/05/boyracer-hit-and-miss.html

They return today with a rather wonderful digital single on Emotional Response Records which'll have you singing along. You can get it here : https://boyracer.bandcamp.com/track/fleetwood-mac-are-shite or here : https://emotional-response-recs.bandcamp.com/album/fleetwood-mac-are-shite-2

Sing it loud, Fleetwood Mac Are Shite...

Boyracer - Hit And Miss

Boyracer have just released their 13th album. They were founded back in 1990 by ever present vocalist/guitarist Stuart Anderson and they're a band who's music I've found myself dipping in and out of down the years whether it was hearing them on the John Peel show or when I was compiling indie mixtapes to listen to on my night shifts at work (tracks like I've Got It And It's Not Worth Having, He Gets Me So Hard and Jump being particular favourites).

There's been numerous line up changes along the way and it's still a large cast of contributors this time around though the addition of Christina Riley (Artsick, Burnt Palms) looks to be more permanent. The album has been in the gestation period for a couple of years with recording taking place in Flagstaff Arizona, Sydney Australia, Berlin Germany, and Scarborough UK. Titled On A Promise, it's available on vinyl (with a ltd edition yellow flexidisc) via Emotional Response Records   https://emotionalresponserecords.com/collections/frontpage/products/boyracer-on-a-promise and as a digital download : https://emotional-response-recs.bandcamp.com/album/on-a-promise

There's some very good tracks on there, initial highlights include Bunk Off Work Today, Girl In A Soul Band and the single Bored and Lonely but it's an all over consistently good album.

This track comes with a video and it's an upbeat pop delight so that's the one I'm posting today. It's titled Hit And Miss...

Boyracer - Bored and Lonely

Some days you just want to introduce a short blast of top notch spikey indie pop into the lives of your blog's visitors. Today is such a day.

Hopefully you're all familiar with Boyracer, they've been around for almost 30 years turning out timeless alt classics on cool labels such as Slumberland, Sarah and Emotional Response. Their back catalogue is a treasure trove of fuzzy goodness (a good example being the track that featured on here back in 2014 https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2014/09/boyracer-he-gets-me-so-hard.html) and happily they're still producing the goods as today's song will illustrate.

Their latest ep came out last month, it's a 3 track ep on Emotional Response and as there were only 100 copies of the limited edition clear vinyl pressed you better get a shift on if you want one (3 copies remain as I write this). You can also get it digitally : https://emotional-response-recs.bandcamp.com/album/bored-and-lonely

The line up on this release is original member Stuart Anderson on vocals etc ably backed up by new recruit Christina Riley (from Artsick and Burnt Palms on lead guitar & vocals). It's a starter course for a new album that'll be titled Even Though We’re Not Okay, We’re Going To Be Alright and it bodes well.

This is the title track of the ep, it's telling us that even though we maybe feeling fed up, isolated and stuck in a rut there's many others out there just like us. Maybe we should reach out. It's called Bored And Lonely...
