Revulsion - Feed The Rich At Christmas Time

Merry Christmas everyone, thanks for visiting Just Some Punk Songs in ever increasing numbers this year, I hope you found something you enjoyed.

As it's Christmas day it's only right to post a festive tune. This one is by Revulsion who hailed from Norfolk , were active in the late 80's/early 90's and who's compilation album is available on Boss Tunage : https://bosstuneagerecords.bandcamp.com/album/revulsion

Taken from the 1987 Consolidation ep (which was a split 7" featuring Revulsion, Rhetoric and Deviated Instinct), this is Feed The Rich At Christmas Time......

Feed the rich don't feed the poor
cos it's spending time at the local store
hand your money across the till
for this is the season of good will

Give and receive enjoy your christmas
spend your cash boost their business
it's the festive time that's full of joy
lot's of fun for girls and boys
the profits reach an all time high
they like to sell we like to buy

Feed the rich at christmas
at christmas time
drinks all round to quench your thirst
stuff yourself until you want to burst
while for lack of food other people die
so spare a thought then turn a blind eye

Fastbacks - k street

I feel in the mood for some bouncy pop punk today so let's go with one of that genre's greatest tunes.....

The Fastbacks got together 35 years ago in Seattle, their line up notable in the early days for the inclusion of future Guns n Roses bassist Duff McKagan on drums. I could try and list their various line ups (basically Kurt Bloch, Lulu Gargiulo and Kim Warnick plus a multitude of drummers) and releases but you'd be better advised reading up on their bio here : http://rickfoundation.blogspot.co.uk/

I think all that I need to say is that they were active between 1980-2002 and in time they released a plethora of catchy punk influenced pop songs, my favourite being K Street.......

After all the troubles come and gone
They were here for so long
Now I've got this sinking feeling
Everyone seems to be leaving

And I can't believe how lonely it is here on K Street
There's no-one like me here on K Street
How lonely it is here on K Street today

I thought that all the problems had gone away
I found out where I could be
They were back the very next day
And I don't know what to believe

I've stood right here a million times before
There's nothing I remember anymore
Has it all changed so much or is it all in me?
Please lift me up and let me see!

No one understands me completely
I try to make myself clear
No-one ever believes me
I couldn't be more sincere

The Nips - So Pissed Off

The Nipple Erectors, (who in 1978 changed their name to the more radio friendly moniker The Nips) formed in London in 1976 by bassist Shanne Bradley and are best remembered nowadays for featuring the vocal talents of notorious ear biting punk Shane O'Hooligan. I'm sure you all know he changed his name to MacGowan and went on to form Pogue Mahone, who became better known as The Pogues. As for Bradley, she went on to co-found The Men They Couldn't Hang. Before they went their seperate ways however, the band (who's original  line up also featured guitarist Roger Towndrow and drummer Arcane Vendetta) released a string of impressive singles (King Of The Bop, All The Time In The World, Gabrielle and Happy Song) as well as a live album called Only The End Of The Beginning (an anthology called Bops, Babes, Booze and Bovver was posthumously released in 1987 by Big Beat Records). Another famous name to be associated with the band was future Culture Club drummer Jon Moss who had a brief stint on drums before they split.

If you want to read more, there's a several good interviews online, including these : http://www.punkglobe.com/shannebradleyinterviewmay08.html

Today's song is an outtake which didn't make it onto any of the singles but was added to the 1987 anthology, this is So Pissed Off....

The street where I live we don't give a shit
About the 70's reality or any of it
Spend the whole night on the piss
On my hands and my knees looking for a kiss

So I'm so pissed off, Fuck all that
So pissed off, Fuck all that
So pissed off, Don't need no one
So pissed off, too much fun

Everyday I meet with the boys from school
We go down the street, play a bit of pool
Put a coin in the juke, can't stop the tone
With the Jubillee trickle and the latest number ones

So pissed off, Fuck all that
So pissed off, Fuck all that
So pissed off, Don't need no one
So pissed off, too much fun

Well I don't need nothing except going on the booze
Don't need to read about people sniffing glue
Don't need no Ultra big TV
SAS Bastards the 70's reality
So pissed off, Fuck all that
So pissed off, Fuck all that
So pissed off, Don't need no one
So pissed off, too much fun

So pissed off, with the disco beat
So pissed off, with people I meet
So pissed off, with lively arts
So pissed off, with miserable farts

So pissed off, I get so tight
So pissed off, I'm feeling alright
So pissed off, but I'm no jerk
So pissed off, went right to work

So pissed off, I'm so pissed off
So pissed off, I'm so pissed off
So pissed off, I'm so pissed off
So pissed off, so pissed off!
