It's been a bit quiet on here this week. I'd like to say it's because I've been busy putting together the listeners favourite songs from the first half of 2025 show but truth is I just couldn't be arsed to write anything.
But I've an update for you today...
Jersey Calling (https://www.facebook.com/jerseycalling) are from Woodbury, New Jersey and they utilise "power chords and catchy riffs backed by a driving bass and drumbeat, with harmonizing male and female lead vocalists." They line up thus; Victoria Maffei-Kates (vocals), Josh Kates (vocals/guitar), Sean Breslin (lead guitar), Randy Ballinger (bass) & John Vouras (drums).
They recently released a new single which went down a storm on last week's show so let's get it shared here : https://jerseycalling.bandcamp.com/track/x-americana
The song questions the huge difference between the haves and the have nots and asks you to have a think about whether to blame those less fortunate than yourself for the state of the nation or if maybe the mega rich/mega greedy should be a more deserving target for your anger and frustrations.
The average person takes 607,478,400 breaths in their lifetime. One billion is 392,521,600 more than that. Billionaires have more money than you have breaths. Should they?
This is X Americana...
Your mendacity's a mockery
Of the people that you stand on
Petrified, our jaws hang wide
Cash in a broken nation
Push citizens from aliens
So we can't clasp our hands
Against your greed and retribution
Serfs at your command
Tonight, do the X Americana
HEY, do the X Americana
HEY, do the X Americana
Click agree and dance in lock step with me
Tradition is your weapon
We're all lined up for the flogging
A patriarchal rewind Where men
never say they're sorry
Our daughters see you on TV
As you put them in their place
Our sons had better toughen up
To replicate your rage
Tonight, do the X Americana
HEY, do the X Americana
HEY, do the X Americana
Click agree and dance in lock step with me
Terminal terms & conditions apply
As storm clouds gather over blue sky
Foster insecurity and label it efficiency
Your skin’s so thin, we see right through your disguise
BILLIONAIRES CAN’T BUY OUR TRUST
BILLIONAIRES ARE NOT LIKE US
(Repeated)
Spoken: Billionaires have enough trust of their own,
Why should they want ours?
We’ve been sold a lie.
I think it’s time we take our refund.
Tonight, do the X Americana
HEY, do the X Americana
HEY, do the X Americana
Click agree and dance in lock step with me
Do the X Americana
HEY, do the X Americana
HEY, do the X Americana
Click agree and dance in lock step
Acquiesce and take your last breath
Live and die by a counterfeit king’s decree
Of the people that you stand on
Petrified, our jaws hang wide
Cash in a broken nation
Push citizens from aliens
So we can't clasp our hands
Against your greed and retribution
Serfs at your command
