The Functional Citizens - Galaxies
Yeah I know, I'm predictable as hell. I get sent a link to a new pop punk album and I make a beeline straight to the sci-fi themed song. And hell yeah, it's great. Mind you the rest of the album is of the same high standard so choosing a different song to play on the next Just Some Punk Songs show is both easy (as there's plenty of suitable candidates) and hard (as there's plenty of suitable candidates!). Anyway, enough waffle...
The Functional Citizens are the old school, Ramones influenced pop punk 3 piece from Kalamazoo, Michigan who's agenda is to put the fun in functional. With a line up featuring Ryan Falor (vocals/guitar), Rob Smith (bass/backup vocals) and Garrett Myland (drums) they appear to have slimmed down in personnel since the last time they featured on here (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2016/11/the-functional-citizens-stalker.html) but there's been no dip in quality.
The new album came out yesterday on Smoking Cat Records, it's titled Game Night and you can check it out here : https://thefunctionalcitizens.bandcamp.com/album/game-night
You can get more details, including gig news, here : https://www.facebook.com/thefunctionalcitizens/
There's 16 songs on the album covering topics such as gaming, girls and drinking etc. It's fun, it's catchy and it deserves your attention. This one's about nagvigating the universe and it's called Galaxies...

I keep missing the broadcast but am happy I've remembered to follow up the blog this time around.
ReplyDeleteChecking it out this morning, this album had me starting the day with an expanding smile.
By the time "I'd like to take you home ..to play DnD" rolled around I was grinning like a madman.
Thanks for the great tip!
