SlutBomb - Hanging On The Telephone

A cover version today of a song that was written by Jack Lee and was released in 1976 by his short-lived US West Coast power pop band the Nerves. The most famous version of the song was a hit for Blondie in 1978 and I remember Deadline releasing a very decent cover of it in 2006.

This latest version is by Ohio anarcho punk band Slutbomb (https://www.facebook.com/slutbobomb). They're a band I featured on here back in 2017 when I posted a song from their debut album Constant Struggle https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2017/05/slutbomb-swerve-and-protect.html

It's the last track on their 3rd (and sadly final) album. They leave the stage with this message; "Be good to each other, and may we all watch every ICE agent burn in an overwhelming hell."

Slutbomb - Swerve and Protect

Slutbomb are an anarcho punk band from Ohio influenced by the likes of Subhumans, Black Flag, Operation Ivy, Municipal Waste etc. They've been together since 2015 and line up with Kyle (bass), Deb (vocals), Darrel (guitar/vocals) and Taylor (percussion).

Last month they released an album called Constant Trouble, it's fast, loud and angry and well worth checking out. The topics touched upon include female equality, christians with blood on their hands, lorry driving assholes and racist police. You can find it name your price here :  https://slutbomb.bandcamp.com/releases

The song you'll find below is called Swerve And Protect.....

A man is strangled in cold blood
In the streets a boy bleeds
Pregnant women thrown on the ground
Even their own comrades lay dead
And you say they're doing their job
They are to serve and protect

They are here to serve and protect you
Serve and protect
The upper class

You got away because you look like them
Their leaders have a quota set
Clean white kid doesn't fit the bill
Pigs see themselves in you.
And you say they're doing their job
They are to serve and protect

They are here to serve and protect you
Serve and protect
The upper class

Use your Power to bring change
Bring this into your space
Use your power to bring change
Destroy these racist police
And you say they're doing their job
They are to serve and protect

They are here to serve and protect you
Serve and protect
The upper class
