Born Shit Stirrers - Alcoholic Lesbian Vet

Just a quickie today to give a shout out to the new album by Born Shit Stirrers (https://www.facebook.com/bornshitstirrers). It's titled Scratch 'n' Sniff and it's available via Serial Bowl Records https://serialbowlrecords.bandcamp.com/album/scratch-n-sniff

I already featured one of the tracks from it last April  (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2023/04/born-shit-stirrers-im-in-love-with.html) so basically I'm just letting you all know that you should give the full length a listen. It's exactly what you'd expect... snotty, short outpourings of rowdy bollox. It's great fun.

There's 26 songs on the album, the one I featured previously name checked a character from Brookside so today I'm going with one that is about Zoey Tate from Emmerdale. It also featured on the Covered In Shit ep (https://noisemerchantrecords.bandcamp.com/album/covered-in-shit) and it's a cover of a song originally recorded by Keith Burton And His Beef Curtain (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRs8OpL4AlA). It's called Alcoholic Lesbian Vet...

Born Shit Stirrers 'I'm in Love with Karen Grant'

What do Fukuoka, Liverpool and a ground breaking soap opera that ran between 1982-2003 have in common?

  Read on...

Japanese rabble rousers Born Shit Stirrers (https://www.facebook.com/bornshitstirrers) are back today (on their last appearance, like today's, they were singing about a thespian (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2021/03/born-shit-stirrers-richard-gere.html). Last time they serenaded the star of movies such as Pretty Woman, An Officer And A Gentleman & Runaway Bride. This time around they turn their attention to a character from Brookside. And they draft in Mark Magill from Just Some Punk Songs' favourites Down And Outs (https://downandouts.bandcamp.com/) on guest vocals.

The song is taken from BSS' upcoming album Scratch N' Sniff which will be out early summer on 12" vinyl, cd and download via Serial Bowl Records. Serial Bowl are currently sharing the song "name your price" https://serialbowlrecords.bandcamp.com/track/im-in-love-with-karen-grant

By Born Shit Stirrers standards, this is quite an epic song in length (stretching just past the 2 minute mark). It's also fast paced, shouty and great fun. It's about a girl that all the cool kids had a crush on and it's called I'm In Love With Karen Grant...

Born Shit Stirrers - Richard Gere

Born Shit Stirrers (https://www.facebook.com/bornshitstirrers) are from Fukuoka, Japan and they're rather bloody good. They line up with Jon (guitar/vocals), Roque (vocals), Lum (guitar/vocals), Watt (bass) & Jun (drums) and they featured on here last April with an excellent track called Bored Of Education (justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2020/04/born-shit-stirrers-bored-of-education.html) which deservedly earned a place in the annual Just Some Punk Songs end of year chart (it'd have been much higher if it had been longer than 25 seconds!).

It was just one of a number of modern day classics that graced their most recent album, Lester (22 tracks in 23 minutes and just the tip of the iceberg of cool releases by the band since they formed in 2016) https://bornshitstirrers.bandcamp.com/

They've been collaborating with Kumamoto (Japan) band Ledzepvietcong (https://onionskin.bandcamp.com/) on a split 7" 9 track ep titled Overworked Underfucked which is due out in July on top UK label Serial Bowl Records. I was fortunate enough to be sent the songs earlier this week and I can safely predict that fans are gonna love them. They've just released a teaser track (https://serialbowlrecords.bandcamp.com/track/richard-gere) which I'm posting below and I've been ok'd to play a different song on the Just Some Punk Songs show later today (https://www.facebook.com/events/533449181567888).

It's in your face, couldn't give a fuck punk rock at it's best by 2 kindred spirit bands. This track boasts a couple of "big name" guest appearances with Mike Watt (Minutemen) on bass and Reverend Norb (Boris The Sprinkler) adding backing vocals. It's a cover of a song by an unknown band called The Bumblebees and it's called Richard Gere...

Born Shit Stirrers - Bored Of Education (promo video)

Have you noticed there's loads and loads and loads of punk music being released. It's over 4 decades since Johnny Rotten asked if we ever get the feeling we've been cheated, 40 plus years since Crass declared Punk Is Dead. Sid Died in 1979. But still the new punk releases keep on a coming.

And do you know what, despite many, many great releases (just flick back through this blog for a tiny fraction of them), it's not easy to find something that makes you sit up and think "this is a bit different, it's distinctive and immediately grabs your attention". Today's song had me thinking exactly that (well not quite exactly, my initial thought was fuck!). Even though it only lasts for 25 glorious seconds!!!

Born Shit Stirrers formed in 2016 in Fukuoka, Japan and play short and catchy punk tunes that are "laced with sharp, dark, often self-deprecating humour." They're un pc, irreverent and great fun. If you don't like a song, don't worry the next one will be along soon. There's 21 songs on their new album. It's called Lester, it'll be co released on May 14th by Serial Bowl Records and Chaos Control (on vinyl, cd & digital). You can pre order it (and check out 5 of the tracks) here :   https://serialbowlrecords.bandcamp.com/album/lester-pre-order

I think this is the first video I've featured that was filmed in a public toilet. If you've never heard this band before, you're in for a treat. This is Bored Of Education...
