Airstream Futures - Visited

A third song on Just Some Punk Songs for Chicago Supergroup Airstream Futures  (https://www.facebook.com/airstreamfutures).

The band are comprised of Devon Carson, Jeff Dean, Katie Karpowicz & Mike Soucy. They're a talented bunch and have featured in numerous previous bands including The Bomb, The Methadones, Dan Vapid And The Cheats, Noise By Numbers, Heavy Seas etc...

They've just released a new album, their third following Spirale Infernale (2018) and Le Feu Et Le Sable (2020). It's not a massive departure from the very enjoyable previous album, we're treated to 11 lovingly crafted melodic punk ear worms. Titled Armer L'harmonie, it was produced by Derek Grant from Alkaline Trio and Rodrigo Palma from Saves the Day and it's available on vinyl & digital download from Rad Girlfriend Records (US) and Little Rocket Records (UK).

An example of what to expect, I'm not sure if this is just about the ghost of a loved one returning from the grave or if it's more about loss and loneliness. Either way it's a thing of beauty. It's called Visited...

Airstream Futures - My Moral Line

Airstream Futures (https://www.facebook.com/airstreamfutures/) are the Chicago "supergroup" featuring members of bands such as The Bomb, The Methadones etc who featured on here a couple of years ago with their debut single If I (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2018/07/airstream-futures-if-i.html) and who've recently returned with an excellent new album titled Le Feu Et Le Sable. It's available from Little Rocket Records (a label that's building up one hell of a catalogue of releases) and you can find the vinyl version here : https://littlerocketrecords.co.uk/ and digital here :   https://airstreamfutureslrr.bandcamp.com/album/le-feu-et-le-sable

They play a mix of punk, alt and indie and count amongst their influences the likes of Alkaline Trio, Saves The Day, Leatherface, The Descendents, Hot Water Music etc... They've actually called in favours from some of those influences, the album was produced by Rodrigo Palma (Saves The Day) and Derek Grant (Alkaline Trio) whilst guesting on backing vocals is a certain Frankie Stubbs. It's a quality album created by people with impeccable credentials, you'll be impressed.

They've released a video for lead track Cemetery Sparrow which is a song I played on the show a few weeks ago and it's definitely worthy of your attention (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvbDOZNDPJw) but the song I'm highlighting today is the equally impressive My Moral Line...

I’ll say when
I’ll say when
I’ll say when

My moral line
Has been crossed
It’s been crossed and redefined
Out of shape and twisting up my mind
Living lost and walking blind
I need a better place and time
To hide me
Where they won’t find me

I’ll say when
Too little too late
I’ll say when
Too little too late
I’ll say when
Too little too late
I’ll say when
Too little

Thoughts and prayers
Thoughts and prayers for everyone

First they came for them
And I didn’t speak up
Because I wasn’t them
Then they came for you
And I didn’t speak up
Because I wasn’t you
Then they came for me
And there was no one left to speak.

Airstream Futures - If I

Airstream Futures are a new band from Chicago who's sound straddles genres such as punk, indie, alt rock and who's line up features members of such notable bands as The Bomb, The Methadones, Dead Ending and Bow & Spear. That line up is Devon Carson (vocals), Jeff Dean (guitar/vocals), Megan Edgin (bass) and Mike Soucy (drums).

They released their debut album, Spirale Infernale, at the end of last year and have recently burst back onto the scene with a fab new 7" single. Out yesterday it features a couple of tracks (If I and PR Nightmares) and its available on both limited edition (300 copies, mostly already gone so be very quick if you want one) random colour vinyl and digital from Little Rocket Records...  https://airstreamfutureslrr.bandcamp.com/

You can get more info here : https://www.facebook.com/airstreamfutures/

The lyric video you'll find below was put together by Alkaline Trio drummer Derek Grant and the song is about the fight against depression and anxiety. If I was making a comparison I'd say it reminds me a little of the kind of songs that featured on Castro's excellent Infidelity album that came out earlier this year (https://castrotheband.bandcamp.com/).

  This is called If I...
