Arse - Safe Word

(photo : joseastwood)

One of the highlights, according to the folk in the chatroom, when this week's Just Some Punk Songs show went out was the new single by Sydney punks Arse. The band is a three piece featuring Dan Cunningham (vocals/guitar), Jono Boulet (bass) and Tim Watkins (drums) and they got together in 2017. Their first release was the Primitive Species ep although I don't think I heard them till they collaborated on a split 7" with fellow Sydney band Party Dozen  :   https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2018/10/arse-feat-party-dozen-power-tripper.html

The song you'll find below is the title track from an upcoming ep. It's a pounding post hardcore banger on the subject of excess. Instead of a sexual safe word, vocalist Dan needs saving from his vices. He wants to feel good all the time but pleasure always leads to pain.   https://arse.bandcamp.com/track/safe-word

They'll be supporting the ep this month and next with a bunch of gigs and you can check out dates here : https://www.facebook.com/arseband/

The folk in my chatroom have immaculate taste. This is Safe Word...

ARSE feat. PARTY DOZEN - Power Tripper

Here's a song that went down a storm when I played it on last night's show. It's a collaborative effort between ARSE and Party Dozen and it's on a split ep from the two Sydney bands. Besides the opening track, which sees both bands join together ("saxophone shred meets pissed-off pogo"), both bands also contribute a song apiece. It's released by Grupo Records and you can check it out here :  https://arseparty.bandcamp.com/

If you want more info on ARSE : https://www.facebook.com/arseband/

For Party Dozen click here : https://www.facebook.com/partydozen/

Joint male and female vocals combine over an intense hardcore backbeat, it's powerful and intoxicating. More bands should combine their talents if the result is going to be as good as this.

  This is Power Tripper...
