Beige Banquet - Parasitic Energy

Beige Banquet are a dark punk 5 piece based in London who feature a line up of Tom Brierley (Guitar, Vocals), Joe Munsey (Guitar), Danny Gillies (Bass), Ian Crafter (Drums) & Blake Carlson-Joshua (Percussion). They released a debut album at the start of 2021 titled Beta but I think it was only towards the end of October last year that I came across them. I notice on my Facebook feed I posted the song Animals and mentioned it was going down well with the listeners to the show.

That song was the first single to be taken from the latest album, Ornamental Hermit, which was released a couple of months ago. It's 10 tracks of lively post punk and it's available on vinyl, cd and digital download : https://beigebanquet.bandcamp.com/album/ornamental-hermit

The song I'm highlighting will give you a good idea of what to expect, it's called Parasitic Energy...

Isolation - Bad Data

You may have heard of Charlie Murphy, he's featured on here previously in a couple of cool bands (Freak Genes and Internal Credit). Now he knocks up an impressive hat trick with Isolation, a Falmouth based dark punk trio in which he contributes guitar & vocals alongside Rob Camp (bass & vocals) and Jo House (drums). Not sure if they take their name from the classic Joy Division song but it'd be nice if that was the case.

They've recently released a debut Self Titled ep, it contains 6 tracks and it's an excellent calling card. First impressions are "wow, that's energetic." A couple of the tags on Bandcamp are dark punk and goth but don't let that fool you into thinking they're serving up an atmospheric gloom fest. From first minute to last they've treated us to a punchy banquet sparking with vim and vigour. There's nods to his other bands but I'd say it's more manic. You can find out for yourselves by snapping it up name your price : https://isolationfal.bandcamp.com/album/isolation

This track is called Bad Data...

Nervosas - Parallels

A new song today from a band that got together in 2011 and are from Columbus, Ohio.

Nervosas feature Jeff Kleinman (vocals/bass), Mickey Mocnik (guitar/vocals) and Nick Schuld (drums) and they play an atmospheric style of gothic post punk (under influences they put "anxiety noise frustration and space"). Their first release was 2011's Ardentes demo cassette and they followed it up a year later with the Rev 45 7" and a second demo called Descension. 2013 Saw them put out a debut, s/t, album. You can check out all those here : https://nervosas.bandcamp.com/album/descension

Now signed to Dirtnap Records, earlier this month they released their second s/t album. Bass driven and moody with some of the best drumming you'll hear in this kind of music, the album has been picking up plenty of complimentary press. You can find out what all the fuss is about here : https://dirtnaprecords.bandcamp.com/album/nervosas-s-t

Uptempo, and featuring a great male/female vocal trade off, this is Parallels....
