The Waterheads - Spoiled Brats

I was wondering where I'd heard The Waterheads before, a fair bit of brain racking went on. And then I realised, they were one of the picks of the Killed By Meth #4 comp which came out on It's Trash Records back in 2019 (https://itstrashrecords.bandcamp.com/track/the-waterheads-dont-vote). They released a debut ep the year before that on Painters Tapes records (https://painterstapes.bandcamp.com/album/the-waterheads-ep) but I think I may have missed that.

I've not missed the follow up though. It's also on Painters Tapes, as the label's name suggests, it's available as a cassette (though as I write this only 9 copies remain) as well as a name your price digital download : https://painterstapes.bandcamp.com/album/ep-2-2

I don't know anything about the band so I guess I better tell you a little about the music. It's scrappy as fuck but highly enjoyable budget punk which starts with a weird instrumental cover of Barry White's I Love You Just The Way You Are before exploding into frenetic life with enthusiastically trashy hardcore tracks about brain eating killer botz, essential workers and fracking. It's the sound of a snotty teenager having a tantrum whilst the band bangs out 80's hardcore and a neighbour joins in on his thrift store synth. It's all very cool.

This is the final track, it's a cover of this song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noHJ3Kjie7o) by The Nunfuckers and it's called Spoiled Brats...

UK Dissent - Punk Rock In Our Veins

UK Dissent (https://www.facebook.com/ukdissent) are a punk rock trio from the north east of England featuring a line up of Mick Hall (guitar/vocals), Chris Ashcroft (drums/backing vocals) & Chris Marner (bass/backing vocals).

They're a band that aren't trying to reinvent the wheel, they play good, old school anthemic punk rock and sit nicely alongside fellow north easterners such as Crashed Out, Kickback Generation, Red Alert etc. (They'll be supporting Red Alert on 27th May in Sunderland).

They've just released a Self Titled debut album and if melodic street punk with a socio political edge is your cup of tea you'll want to check it out (It's available on cd for £8 on the band's Facebook page).

This is a highlight and it should strike a chord with anyone reading this blog, it's called Punk Rock In Our Veins...

Rum Lad - Football

Working class mouthpiece Rum Lad (https://www.facebook.com/rumladpunk) has been banging 'em out recently. He's been pretty damn prolific (get his latest album, Wonder Meat, here : https://rumlad.bandcamp.com/album/wonder-meat). Today, he's bangin 'em in! (TOP BINS!!!).

Usually you can hear him gobbing off about how the Tories are twats and other undeniable political truths but he eschews all that today with another important working class concern...

The energy levels are as high as ever, the vocal performance as powerful but this time around he's singing about our favourite sporting pastime. He's rhyming Zinedine Zidane with Kevin Keegan, Graeme Souness with Uli Hoeness and even Carlton Palmer with Valderama. He's scattergun shouting Maradona and name checking both Ronaldos (big and small!). It's a joyful celebration of the beautiful game and some of the great names who've graced the field of play. It'll be available on digital platforms (aside from Spotify) on April 8th.

The lad's hit the back of the new with this one. It's called Football...

(It looks as though you'll have to click watch on youtube to view the video so do that now!)

The Shang Hi Los - Billy

I was going to post this song a couple of week's ago but noticed Josh over at Faster and Louder got in first and as his reviews are much better than mine I decided to hang fire. But it's such a great song, and it went down so well when I played it on last week's show that I'm going with it today.

The Shang Hi Los (https://www.facebook.com/ShangHiLos) are from Boston and feature a line up of Jen D'Angora (Vocals/Guitar), Dan Kopko (Guitars/Vocals/Whip), Lee Harrington (Bass) & Chuck Ferreira (Drums/Percussion). The song you'll find below is being pitched as a mix of Blondie and Ennio Morricone. It's got a spaghetti western vibe that'd sound great on a Quentin Tarantino soundtrack. It features a guest turn by Chris Barrett on trumpet and mellotron. It's something a little different (I like the spaghetti rock tag on Bandcamp) and it has me eagerly awaiting the release of their new album.

The album will be out later this year on Rum Bar Records but for now you can get the song plus the first teaser single, Plymouth Rock, here : https://theshanghilos.bandcamp.com/

A taste of the wild west, this is Billy...

Did you see him standing there in the paper moon?
With a silhouette and a silver spoon...

Billy, all my love is so translucid
A glimmer in the sun that bleached out bruises
Any time at all, his call

Billy, on the run, luck down and museless
Trigger of a gun, somebody shooting
Any time at all, his call

Billy's got a gun..

Panic Shack - The Ick

Panic Shack (https://www.facebook.com/panicshack) are an indie/punk quintet (Sarah Harvey (vocals), Meg Fretwell (guitar/backing vocals), Romi Lawrence (guitar/backing vocals), Em Smith (bass) & Ed Barker (drums)) from Cardiff who are gearing up for the release of a new 6 track ep titled Baby Shack. It'll be out on April 8th but 5 of the songs are streaming already so go check them out. https://panicshack.bandcamp.com/album/baby-shack

I noticed a comment on their Bandcamp page saying "Their infectious snot rock anthems and sing along cathartic chorus' should someday save the world if given half a chance" and it's spot on. They're a band with attitude and a sense of fun. I'm guessing they're a great live act (they're touring throughout April so watch out for them). With airplay on Radio 1, they're justifiably on an upwards trajectory.

This is their latest video. The song's about how dates can go rapidly downhill, it's called The Ick...

UK's Lowest - Corporate Strategy

  Welcome back guys...

Saving rock n roll since 2013, UK's Lowest (https://www.facebook.com/UksLowestBand/) are the Bristol punk band that burst onto the scene with a bunch of cool releases (https://uks-lowest.bandcamp.com/) and even featured on here back in 2015 (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2015/09/uks-lowest-999-5-0.html).

They've been missing in action for the last 5 years after playing a "last ever gig at Exeter Cavern in August 2017 but like a phoenix from the flames they returned in January of this year to support Grade 2 and they slipped out a hot new single titled Skin & Bone (I played it on last week's Just Some Punk Songs show to a very appreciative chatroom).

Today I'm posting a song from their brand new album, Outbreaks and Breakouts. It's the sound of a band influenced by all your old favourites, the sound of a band that despite a long absence haven't missed a beat. It's good, old school timeless punk rock that you can sing along to and you can check it out here : https://open.spotify.com/album/503ZqA4dNH7uJMF5xxdMJB

This song will give you an idea of what to expect, it's called Corporate Strategy...

Stepmother - Fade Away

Amongst the bookmarks on my pc I have a fairly long list of cool record labels' Bandcamp pages which I'll work my way through every week in order to try not to miss out on too many good new releases. One of those bookmarks is for Legless Records from Rye in Australia. Their catalogue includes releases by the likes of Stiff Richards, Jackson Reid Briggs & The Heaters, cutters, C.O.F.F.I.N etc. It's a brilliant label and today I'm featuring their latest "hit".

Stepmother are a new power trio fronted by Graham Clise (Annihilation Time, Lecherous Gaze, Rot TV, Witch). He's backed by Rob Muinos (Bass / Vocals) & Sam Rains (Drums). They're described as equal parts motor city proto punk and feedback drenched fuzz on the darker side of psychedelia. Comparisons are made to the likes of Blue Cheer, Nervous Eaters, The Damned and The Pink Fairies. For a more contemporary reference, I can hear hints of fellow Aussies Civic. They claim to play anthems for the poor depraved sickos and rock n roll miscreants residing on this doomed planet with tunes about nuclear armageddon, torture and supernatural entities.

Legless will be releasing their debut 7" in a couple of months and to give us an idea what to expect they've posted a teaser single. You can find it here : https://stepmother1.bandcamp.com/track/fade-away

If you like your punk rock down and dirty with plenty of impressive guitar licks then this'll be right up your street. It's called Fade Away...

The Delinquents - Love O

“This is a chord, this is another, this is a third. Now form a band”

... and maybe call it The Delinquents…

Hailing from Italy, The Delinquents are a new trio featuring members of Idol Lips and Razorlips. They're big fans of '77 style punk rock naming as influences the likes of Dictators, The Damned, Ramones, The Heartbreakers & The Sex Pistols. Their line up is Tony Volume (vocals/guitar), Adrian Ics (vocals/bass) & Dom Stiletto (vocals/drums).

They've a debut album coming out in June via hot Madrid label Take The City Records. My money is on it being pretty special. If you fancy one of the 300 copies on hot pink vinyl I'd get pre ordering now : https://takethecityrecords.bandcamp.com/album/too-late-too-little-too-loose

This is the teaser track, a fresh sounding blast of retro rock, it's called Love O...

Twin Pigs - Idiot Clap

Twin Pigs (https://www.facebook.com/twinpigspunk) are a band I've played a few times on recent shows due to them releasing one of the best albums so far in 2022 and I think it's about time that I featured a song on here.

They're from Stockholm and they've been around since 2015 but it's only with the release of the new album that I've been lucky enough to hear them. The album goes by the glorious title of Godspeed, Little Shit-Eater and it's very fine indeed.

The band line up thus; Hanna Engström (keys and vocals), Andreas Litfeldt (drums), Erik Melin (vocals) & Canan Rosén (guitar/vocals). They're tagged as hardcore punk rock and they certainly owe a lot to that genre but at the same time they aren't constricted by that tag as they aren't afraid to experiment and push those boundaries.

Lyrically, they're pretty damn sharp. For example they'll express their dismay at the Americanisation of modern day life by commenting "Now, for the main event: The new American experience. Illustrated by Marilyn Manson: Removing his own rib. So he can suck his own dick. Get off and swallow his own shit." Or they'll comment on the First World problems of deciding between Pepsi or Coke or about everything being commodified. They bemoan Discount nudes on Onlyfans and porn bot friend requests.

It's an album to immerse yourself in. It's available on vinyl from Spastic Fantastic Records or Luftslott Records or for the digital version go here : https://twinpigs.bandcamp.com/album/godspeed-little-shit-eater-2

This track is (I assume) about empty gestures. It's called Idiot Clap...

It's eight o' clock in the 2020s Idiots gather on balconies Applaud our welfare catastrophe Hide their burning apathy - Get ready for performative action (mrs) Gal Gadot singing "Imagine" Post an article - show that you care Thumbs up, sad react and share - Devoid of meaning and cleaned Streamed, lag free, 1080p Idiots do, and idiots can! LUVDUMP - Saviour

As they formed as long ago as 2007 I feel I should already be familiar with LUVDUMP (https://www.facebook.com/LUVDUMP) but for some reason they've sailed under my radar. Until now.

From what I can make out, they originally hailed from East Anglia but are now based in Manchester. They "smash together a mix of fast melodic punk, ska-core, reggae and dub with political and socially conscious lyrics." They've released an album (Age Of Austerity), an ep and a single (get them here :  https://luvdump.bandcamp.com/) but then they looked to be calling it a day but seem to have changed their minds. After listening to their brand new record I can only say that that's  good thing.

The new record is titled The Fall Of Icarus and it's available via Pumpkin Records on (very limited 10" vinyl and name your price digital download  https://pumpkinrecords.bandcamp.com/album/the-fall-of-icarus (Everything from digital sales and all profits from Vinyl sales are going to www.operation-solidarity.org in Ukraine).

It's a very fine mini album (maxi ep?). It's fast paced, hard hitting punk (they seem to have forgone the ska, reggae & dub this time around) that has a nice amount of melody and manages not to be too heavy to put me off. Pumpkin Records have also released albums by Rash Decision and F. Emasculata this year, The Fall Of Icarus makes it 3 winners on the bounce for them and makes their Bandcamp page one to bookmark.

The song I'm highlighting is about the problems of the disparity between the haves and the have nots, the rich landlords and the homeless who can't afford extortionate rents. It's about waking up and fighting back, about tearing things down and rebuilding a fairer society. It's called Saviour...

BOMBARDEMENT - Poison (Guest Review By Ralph J Rivera)

A guest review by Ralph today of a band he says is one of the best bands out today playing "Modern" D-Beat.

  He isn't wrong...

So as anyone that's been listening for the last 40+ years knows - "D-Beat" is a very limited genre of Punk Rock. It sticks to a formula. But like all genres within "The Underground" it has to be expanded on to remain vital. Bordeaux, France's "Bombardement" has been pushing the envelope since 2018. Every one of their releases from the first demo on have advanced upon their sound. On March 10th they dropped the BIGGEST bomb of their career!

"Le Futur Est La" is a MASTERPIECE in Modern Punk Rock. Taking this style to the next level with JUST enough "Metal" influences to make it on point. Along with their only contemporaries "Wolfbrigade" - THIS is the future of "D-Beat". But unlike most of the bands playing this style they have a "secret weapon" - and her name is "Oriane"!! Not many females can sing this style without resorting to just "screaming". NO! This girl knows how to sing and THAT'S what makes BOMBARDEMENT stand out in a field of clones!

You can get the album here via Destructure and Symphony Of Destruction :  https://bombardement.bandcamp.com/album/le-futur-est-l

This song right here - "Poison" - is one of the most amazing tunes you'll ever hear! Listen! Enjoy!

The Human Error - Fractured Britain

The Human Error are a fresh faced new punk trio from the West Midlands who's line up is Joe Ree (Vocals and Rhythm Guitar), Joseph Brown (Bass Guitar) & Adam Welsh (Drums) and who's influences are listed as The Clash, the Ramones, Green Day, Buzzcocks & Stiff Little Fingers.

They played their first ever gig earlier this month in Worcester (here's some footage of them covering a Buzzcocks classic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8bVrhBvnHk) and they've also released a very promising debut single.

  It's called Fractured Britain...

J Prozac - For The World

Prozacs (https://www.facebook.com/TheProzacs) frontman J Prozac (https://www.facebook.com/jprozac) is back today with a song from his new album Won't Let Go.  It's a solo album but it features a number of guests helping out including backup vocals from his wife Andy (who you may remember from Stiletto Bomb (https://stilettobomb.bandcamp.com/) and from his kids Kody & Tyler). Keeping to the family affair spirit, Jay dedicates the album to his late father Richard who sadly passed away last year.

The songs aren't a million miles away from what you'd expect from a Prozacs release. They're songs that are personal to Jay, but that was often the case anyway. The song titles (Won't Let Go, Regret, Beat Of Our Hearts, Here With Me etc...) give you an idea of what to expect thematically. Relationships are an important part of Jay's song writing modus operandi. We also get family friendly themed tracks such as People I Know & single Building Blocks and there's an impressive cover of a song by one of Jay's favourite bands, Dirt Bike Annie. More covers (of songs by The Queers, Tom Petty, Ramones & Manges) pop up on a bonus section at the end of the album (though surely the highlight of this section must be the Just Some Punk Songs show theme song!).

It's a great album chock full of catchy as hell pop punk tunes and it's available on cd from Rum Bar Records https://rumbarrecords.bandcamp.com/album/wont-let-go

I already featured Regret as long ago as 2020, a couple of the tracks were released as videos and I'll play the Dirt Bike Annie cover on this week's show so today I'll draw your attention to a loving tribute to the relationship between himself and his wife. It's called For The World...

The Chats – Struck By Lightning

Just a quickie today as I'm sure you all know The Chats (https://www.facebook.com/thechatsband).

They've just dropped a new video to coincide with the release of their new single. I assume it'll be on Bargain Bin's Bandcamp tomorrow https://bargainbinrecords.bandcamp.com/ (so keep your eyes peeled) and no doubt it'll feature in their set list for their upcoming tours of the US, the UK and Europe.

Boosted by the addition of new guitarist Josh Hardy, this is the sound of a band at the top of their game and having a shitload of fun.

This is Struck By Lightning...

Froggy - Jimmy's Song

Froggy (https://www.facebook.com/froggytheband) are a punk/riot grrrl trio from the Doylestown/Lansdale area of Philadelphia. They've been together for a couple of years and feature a line up of Morgan McClain (vocals/guitar), Brooke Feenie (bass/vocals) & Fiona Clark (drums).

They've released a 6 track ep titled Sopa de Elote, an album recorded live for the Left Of The Dial radio show and a few other songs, the latest of which is called Jimmy's Song and is "about the heartbreak of finding out somebody you love is in love with another person." It's the first single from an upcoming album and you can find it as a name your price download on Bandcamp :   https://froggytheband.bandcamp.com/track/jimmys-song-2

Dogma - The World A Peace

A very topical song today by Ottawa anarcho/peace punks Dogma (https://www.facebook.com/Dogmapeacepunks).

They're an atmospheric quartet featuring a line up of James (drums), Steph (vocals), Ricky (bass) & Justin (guitar). They formed in 2017 and their 2020 Self Titled album was one of that years best releases (https://anthraxuk.bandcamp.com/album/dogma-4).

They return today with the opening track on a new 5 song ep from Pils Sessions titled Dogma Session #08 02/22. We're treated to 3 new original compositions, a cover of The Mob's 1980 single Witch Hunt and a re recorded version of Indoctrination, a song from the debut album. Topics covered include world peace, consumerism, colonialism and the ruling elite. It's the first time in the studio for the band for 2 years and they had this to say  "A lot's changed, even for us as a band, since our last session in the studio almost exactly two years before this one, but we're beyond appreciative of the opportunity and thankful to be able to share our tunes with you, courtesy of PILS Sessions. At a time like this - in our city, in our society and in our world - we remember what matters.. hold yourself and your circles accountable in your fight for a better world."

This is The World A Peace...

 A World without bombs
 A world without borders
 A world without hate
 A world with no war!

The World at peace not in pieces,
The World at peace not in pieces!

Big Baby - Big Baby's Got The Nukes

Are you in the mood for something energetic, something's that's trashy and fun? Then step this way...

Big Baby are a frenetic garage punk trio (Gem drums, Chris guitar, Punky bass) from Pittsburgh. They released a demo back in 2019 and those tracks have been given a bit of a polish (as in rerecorded slightly better but the rough edges are still front and centre) and expanded upon in the form of a debut album titled Big Baby's Big Fuckin' Record.

It's budget rock done with a passion. It's the kind of music made to be played in dark and dingy basements with sweaty fans going apeshit. It's a blast. You can get the album here :  https://bigbabypgh.bandcamp.com/album/big-babys-big-fuckin-record

All the songs are much of a muchness (as in they're all fuckin' great!) but the one I'm highlighting is the one at the end. It's called Big Baby's Got The Nukes...

big baby got the nuke whatcha gonna do? are you gonna sit on yer hands as big baby destroys you
are you gonna run are you gonna hide are you gonna scream are you gonna die
laughin with yer friends.. isnt life so great? what happens when we come down and destroy your smooth smooth brains?
are you gonna run are you gonna hide are you gonna scream are you gonna die
big baby got the nuke. whatcha gonna do?
we got the nuke and we’re coming for you

Gutterblood - Alienation

Something a little different today that I was recommended by one of the listeners to the show (Cheers Jim!).

Gutterblood (https://www.facebook.com/gutterblood) are from Peebles, Scotland, and they formed in 2019. Their name is a Scottish word for a low person of inferior breeding (one of the rabble). Their music is a fusion of blues, indie, doom, punk and prog. They're a trio who "seize the socio-political climate of the day, incorporating it into the live arena by using samples and heavy, groove driven dynamics." They claim to be a mostly instrumental band but when you check out their debut album you'll see that there's lyrics aplenty (many of them well chosen samples).

That debut album is Self Titled, it was released last December (though the cd version is out on Thurs 16th March) and it's a record you can easily lose yourself in. Their sound brings to mind both Mogwai (rich, classy instrumentation) and Benefits (spoken word monologues of a political nature but less abrasive in tone). For your first listen can I recommend you take yourself away somewhere quiet that you can immerse yourselves in what is a aural and lyrical treat.

The album is available as a name your price download :  https://gutterbloodband.bandcamp.com/album/gutterblood-l-p

This is the opening track, its called Alienation...

"And let me right at the outset define what I mean by Alienation
It's the cry of men who feel themselves the victims of blind, economic forces beyond their control
It's the frustration of the great mass of ordinary people excluded from the processes of decision making
It's the feeling of despair and hopelessness that pervaids people who feel with every justification that they have no real say in shaping or determining there own destinies" (Jimmy Reid)

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times
The punks were pulling on their boots
I was six years old on a picket line and in the evening my mother made me watch the mini series Roots
I got the jist
Well the strike went on for 9 long weeks and they had to sent the army in
Some of them died
The Green goddesses were not fit for purpose and the tinder box lived right up to it's name
Well Christmas came and went, not much of an event
Our family got our picture in the Evening Times
But poverty was respectful then and most people had that wee bit of pride still...
Two years down the line it was 1979
It was the turn of the Clyde and the mines
We were told to 'retrain', 'get on your bikes', 'keep up with the times' Jesus Christ, I left school with a smile and I thought I had guile right up to my YTS
I'll not even mention the job club
With no ships or coal you could work for your dole
You're a wage slave but minus the wage
Not that these tasks were appealing to me, the truth be told

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times
I was pulling my boots on now
But the revolution had long been televised
I accept that I had missed the boat
No frigging in the rigging for me
I was doing all nighters watching the hit man and her and stealing my mothers fags
I'd attend the occasional LPYS meeting but I found it a bit culty and I only really went because there was this girl I fancied that went, when she stopped showing up, so did I
I'd attend the occasional demonstration
But some of my old school friends were now in the BNP
They would try and attack us
And that made me a little bit paranoid

I did find a group of friends eventually and they would drag me to anarchist meetings
But I remember getting called a 'schemie' for turning up with a bag of chips
And pretending to like Discharge was impossible but for the most determined
However I had nowhere else to go and nothing else to do
So I did the best I could to have fun with it

That's the sound of the men working on the chain gang
That's the sound of the men clearing their browser history
That's the sound of the men calling me a libtard
That's the sound of you clapping for the nurses

That's the sound of the soccer mom dropping off her psychos
With an extra clip in their pack lunch box
That's the sound of finding a sense of belonging
Somewhere you don't belong

Some people talk about a mid life crisis
Some people experience lifelong crisis

And that's the sound of the men working on the chain gang

The Officials - Rabid Dogs

The Officials (https://www.facebook.com/TheOfficialsAnarchoi) return today with the title track from their new ep. If you've missed them previously, they're the "boot stomping anarchoi" duo comprising of Nath Haywire (angry shouting) and John Copeland (guitar/bass/drums).

It's their 3rd ep, following X Ray Vision and Sleepwalking, and it's another winner. As the tag anarchoi suggests, the band combine elements of anarcho punk with old school shouty oi. Track 2 is a brand new song about the current Russian invasion of Ukraine and it has Nath asking if this is World War 3 ("Will this be armageddon? Power crazed lunatics.  Fingers on the button") whilst track 3 is about mass consumerism.

The ep is called Rabid Dogs and you can get it here : https://theofficials.bandcamp.com/album/rabid-dogs

  This is the title track...

Das Kapitans - Rat

War should never be an option.

I'm sure you're all already familiar with Das Kapitans (https://www.facebook.com/daskapitans) by now so I don't really need to say anything about them other than if you've been living on a desert island for the last 18 months or so go fill your boots : https://daskapitansband.bandcamp.com/

Now to the reason for having them back today... they feature on a compilation album from Socks On Records (https://www.facebook.com/socksonrecords) titled Standing With Ukraine. There's 28 tracks on there at the moment though it says more to be added over time. There's a number of bands that have featured on here (such as Mark Murphy & The Meds, Rites Of Hadda, Al Pacinos Sister & Hummer) and a hell of a lot more that are new to me. The main selling point though is that ALL proceeds are going to The British Red Cross to help the victims of the war in the Ukraine.

I honestly wasn't sure if I'd heard the Das Kapitans track before (they've released so much music over the last year and a bit it's not easy to keep up!) but it didn't sound familiar so I thought I'd post it today. It's called Rat...

Dennis Cometti - Death Rattle

Another smash hit from down under today as Perth budget rockers Dennis Cometti (https://www.facebook.com/dcometti) return to Just Some Punk Songs with a track from their new double A sided single.

Named after a famous Australian sports commentator and featuring a line up of Alex Patching (guitar/vocals), John Peers (bass) and Mitch Cross (drums) they gained plenty of new fans when they released a debut Self Titled album (https://denniscometti.bandcamp.com/album/dennis-cometti-2) which had myself and probably many others mentioning them in the same breath as Cosmic Psychos and The Chats.

The single is available from Bargain Bin Records on 7" vinyl and digital download  https://denniscometti.bandcamp.com/album/death-rattle-limiter

This track is one of the best songs about car trouble since Adam Ant was a lad. It's called Death Rattle...

Split System - Climbing

You may remember that I posted a song in January by a new band from Melbourne called Split System and mentioned it was one of 5 songs that they'd recorded in their first and up until then only jam (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2022/01/split-system-hit-me.html). I mentioned that the band featured an impressive line up; Jackson Reid Briggs - Vocals (Jackson Reid Briggs & The Heaters) Arron Mawson - Guitar (Stiff Richards) Ryan Webb - Guitar (Speed Week) Deon Slaviero - Bass (The Black Heart Death Cult) Mitch McGregor - Drums (No Zu). I also said there'd be an ep later this year.

Well that ep has arrived. It features the remaining tracks from that jam and happily they're up to the standard of that impressive calling card. The ep is a Self Titled affair and it's available on 7" limited bone vinyl via Legless Records. If you like the garage punk stylings of Jackson Reid Briggs & The Heaters or Stiff Richards then you'll be all over this release. You can grab it here :  https://splitsystem.bandcamp.com/album/split-system

The Coathangers (Ft. Trail Of Dead) - Putin Lights Up The Fires

Take to the streets with no fear...

Here's a timely (and very good) song that's actually a cover of this Pussy Riot track from 2012 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5sGeNFradE

It's a collaboration between Atlanta ,Georgia trio The Coathangers (https://www.facebook.com/TheCoathangersATL) who provide vocals and Austin, Texas, rockers ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead who play the instruments (https://www.facebook.com/andyouwillknowusbythetrailofdead).

The lyrics have been tweaked for this version to reflect what's currently happening in Ukraine. You can get the track from Bandcamp and all proceeds will go CARE for its Ukraine Crisis Fund, which will provide immediate aid including food, water, hygiene kits, support services and direct cash assistance. Prioritizing women, families, and the elderly, CARE aims to help at least 4 million Ukrainians affected by the crisis  https://thecoathangers.bandcamp.com/track/putin-lights-up-the-fires-pussy-riot-cover-w-trail-of-dead-to-benefit-ukraine
