SlutBomb - Hanging On The Telephone

A cover version today of a song that was written by Jack Lee and was released in 1976 by his short-lived US West Coast power pop band the Nerves. The most famous version of the song was a hit for Blondie in 1978 and I remember Deadline releasing a very decent cover of it in 2006.

This latest version is by Ohio anarcho punk band Slutbomb (https://www.facebook.com/slutbobomb). They're a band I featured on here back in 2017 when I posted a song from their debut album Constant Struggle https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2017/05/slutbomb-swerve-and-protect.html

It's the last track on their 3rd (and sadly final) album. They leave the stage with this message; "Be good to each other, and may we all watch every ICE agent burn in an overwhelming hell."

You can get the album as a name your price download here :  https://slutbomb.bandcamp.com/album/slutbomb

This is Hanging On The Telephone...

BLVCKHELICOPTERS - All I Want for Xmas

  Happy Christmas everybody.

Here's a festive tune from one of the shining lights of 2025.

There may be AI heavily involved in Michael Maus' Blvckhelicopters project but I guess the genie's out of the box now and there ain't no putting it back. So if you're going to use it, use it to create something that little bit special.

This is All I Want For Xmas...

I don't want a lot for Christmas
My list only includes one thing
An armed rebellion against the state
Dancing around the guillotine

All I want for Christmas
Is a world without the state
Raise the black flag high
When tyrants die we celebrate
All I want for Christmas
Is a world without the state
Raise the black flag high
When anarchy wins we celebrate

I don't want a lot for Christmas
There's just one thing I need
Every politician on a cross
And police dying in the street

We'll have rebellion on Christmas night
Unified people armed in the moonlight
March down to Washington DC
And drag politicians out into the street

The Dissidents - History Repeats

In my last update I wrote "When I'm looking for music to feature on here and on the show there's a few must go to UK labels that I keep my eye on. These include Grow Your Own Records, Drowning Sailor, Serial Bowl Records, Brassneck Records and Little Rocket Records. All great labels who are very reliable. If they're releasing something you can pretty much guarantee it'll be a winner."

Helping to prove my point are Grow Your Own Records who've just released a new album titled A Better World. It's a split lp featuring Philadelphia political punks The Dissidents (https://www.facebook.com/dissidentsphilly) and California anarcho punks D.O.V.E.

As always with Grow Your Own, loving care has gone into producing a beautifully packaged vinyl and cd version which you can find here : https://growyourownrecords.bandcamp.com/album/a-better-world

The album kicks of explosively with The Dissidents offering up No Air, a song I featured on here 4 years ago https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2021/08/the-dissidents-no-air.html

The album maintains this standard throughout with both bands bringing their A game.

Today I'm going to highlight a tragically all too topical song, it's called History Repeats...

Once again, blood is shed In back alleys left for dead As they sit back making laws Protecting life that never lived History repeats Once Again Innocent blood is shed Once again blood is shed Bodies pile on stolen land Starvation, bombs and death Ethnic cleansing not self defense History repeats Once Again Innocent blood is shed History repeats Every day History repeats

Gutter - Another Day Another Death

A cover version today of a song that was the opening track on The Mob's 1983 album Let The Tribe Increase. For those that don't know, The Mob were an English anarcho punk band from Yeovil who were active between 1979 and 1983 and who reformed in 2011.

There's a new French tribute compilation to them titled Let the tribute increase (a tribute to The Mob). It features a bunch of bands who if I'm honest I've never heard of but they pull off some decent reinterpretations. You can check the comp out here (it's available as a name your price download) :  https://letthetributeincrease.bandcamp.com/album/let-the-tribute-increase-a-tribute-to-the-mob

Gutter are a hardcore punk band from Lille (https://gutterlille.bandcamp.com/). This is their hard hitting version of Another Day Another Death...

I woke up screaming from the nightmare that’s begun again / Cold tears of sweat dripping down my face / I slipped up again, I slipped up again / The radio is playing songs whirling in my head /Another day another death / Another day another death / Ice cold needle that splits my every breath / Another day, another death / The cold and frigid wind that blows through every crack / The wild and tortured dream / the straw that broke the camel’s back / We slipped up again, we slipped up again / And I wanna know why, I wanna know why / Another day another death / Another day another death /Ice cold needle that splits my every breath / Another day another death / I’m reaching out again and clutching flowers thrown in the breeze / They’re all quite meaningless and yet they mean so much to me / We slipped up again by not recalling all the pain / And I wanna know why, I wanna know why / Another day another death / Another day another death/ Ice cold needle that splits my every breath / Another day another death

Poorly Trained Radicals & Eagle Spits - Santa is a Capitalist

Happy Christmas to all Just Some Punk Songs listeners everywhere.

I usually try and post a Christmas themed song on Xmas Day and this year I'm going with this collaboration between Poorly Trained Radicals (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100089074981335) & Eagle Spits (https://www.facebook.com/eagle.spits). It's a Punk 4 The Homeless (https://www.facebook.com/punk4thehomeless) fundraising song for Hope Orphanage, a small, unfunded orphanage in Makeni town, Sierra Leone, that looks after 74 girls and young women who were orphaned by Ebola - to help them buy clothes and food. If you can, please donate to Hope Orphanage via:  https://www.peoplesfundraising.com/donation/punk4thehomeless

It's called Santa Is A Capitalist...

Attaxia - Warrant

(@leah.trash.armstrong)

Attaxia (https://www.facebook.com/AttaxiaBand) are Emoeba (vocals), Davey (bass/vocals/trumpet), Chris (guitar) & Myko (drums), a powerful anarcho crust quartet from Cleveland, Ohio.

Back in July, they released a new album titled Sharpen My Teeth which I missed at the time but am acquainting myself with now. There's 15 tracks, mostly short angry blasts of anger delivered against religious wars, billionaire media moguls, brainwashed army veterans,  A.I. etc...

You can find it as a name your price download on Bandcamp :  https://attaxia.bandcamp.com/album/sharpen-my-teeth

If you collect vinyl, they'll be releasing 11 songs from the album on 7" vinyl (you can pre order on Bandcamp).

This track adds a bit of a crack rock steady vibe to the mix, it's called Warrant...

They're calling me on my phone
Leaving me a message saying I've gotta go
Down to the station and tell them what I know
Don't they know that's against the code?

Cause I know that they don't have shit
Just out on a fishing trip
Want me to rat on one of my friends
I don't even know what I said

Cause I'm lying to the police
No officer I haven't seen him in weeks
Lying to the police
I didn't see a fuckin thing

They've got a white van across the street
Binoculars staring at me
Shut all the blinds, turn out the lights
Barricade my door tonight

Cause I see them following me
Trying to make me snap
That happened years ago
There's nothing left for me to crack

Dark Harvest Commandos - Clown Island

My friend and occasional Just Some Punk Songs contributor Ralph J Rivera has been notable by his absence from this blog recently (hint hint Ralph) but that hasn't stopped him recommending great music in Facebook.

On one such recommendation he espoused "Relentless Anarcho-Punk Thrash from Glasgow, Scotland. Obviously "Disaffect" was a huge influence on this band. Excellent female vocals & very time appropriate lyrics. This band would have been huge in the early 90's Crust scene. 6 songs that blow by you in a flash so listen repeatedly! Killer Punk Rock 2024!"

He was talking about Dark Harvest Commandos (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61559276021875). As he mentioned, they're a DIY hardcore outfit from Glasgow and they've recently released a Self Titled ep on Sanctus Propaganda. It's half a dozen short, sharp bursts of social and political commentary. It's bloody good too so check it out :  https://sanctuspropaganda.bandcamp.com/album/s-t-ep

This one's calling for the Tory scum to go so no doubt they were celebrating round at Dark Harvest Commandos towers last week (although the collapse of the SNP vote probably won't have been received with the same zeal) . It's called Clown Island...

Inspired to stand up So, I sat down to write, Pissed off with Society, I’m fucked off with this shite! Vote for Independence? The dead folk had their say Stuck on Clown Island with Brexit, It’s the poorest folk who pay Libraries and Swimming pools, Closing anything that feeds the mind Stop voting in the Tories, Refuse to accept this shit! No funding for communities, No staff to run the show. Striking Doctors and Nurses, It’s the Tory scum who have to go! Look at our brothers across the channel, They’re rioting in France! The streets still have legitimacy, Let’s give ourselves a fighting chance! I remember Stop the City, I remember Kill the Bill, The State only understands violence, Stand up, Get the Tories out! Billions for their best mates, 12 years austerity for us, History will show they raped the UK, Stand up, Get the Tories out! Vote for Independence? The dead folk had their say Stuck on Clown Island with Brexit, It’s the poorest folk who pay

Louis Lingg and the Bombs - Manspreading on the Metro

Come the revolution, it's going to have a great soundtrack. Hopefully provided by Paris anarcho/techno punks Louis Lingg and the Bombs (https://www.facebook.com/louislinggandthebombs).

They were a regular feature on Just Some Punk Songs a few years ago with this possibly being my favourite track by them https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2015/05/louis-lingg-and-bombs-i-wish-i-was-dead.html

Are they still as good as they were back then? On the evidence of their new ep I'd have to give a resounding yes in reply.

The ep's titled Can You Hear The Uproar? It's 3 new songs plus 3 instrumental versions. It's music to get your body moving and your mind working. It's the sound of a band channeling their anger in a direction that allows them to have a little more fun than many contemporary acts. Maybe think Chumbawamba mixed with Atari Teenage Riot?

This is the lead track, of which they say, "I wrote Manspreading on the Metro about my friend and Colleague Yves who committed suicide because of our director at work. This director lied to us and said he died in his sleep. His wife found out about the lie and told us that he committed suicide because of the director. What an absolute monster that man is. It was originally a grunge song but Octave rewrote it to make it a techno rock song."

It's called Manspreading on the Metro...

Verse 1 (He’s) Slouched on the subway Lazy, lack of poise I knew him from work That asshole from accounts He’s looking right through me (I) Think he might be dead No such luck Fucker just doesn’t care He fired my workmates (He) didn’t even blink (A) day of screams He didn’t even hear And now he manspreads A greasy metaphor Taking up space Close your fucking legs Close your fucking legs Prechorus Stop stop the spread! Chorus X2 Man (down) on the metro Legs spreading wide Why aie aie aie! Stabbed him with my stiletto Legs spreading wide Why aie aie aie! Verse 2 The day my friend died (A)Hopeless suicide (He) told us he passed Peaceful, in his sleep You fucking liar You grubby fucking suit Taking up space Close your fucking legs Close your fucking legs! Prechorus Hey dude! It’s rude! Two seats Stop stop the spread! Chorus Man (down) on the metro Legs spreading wide Why aie aie aie! Stabbed him with my stiletto Legs spreading wide Why aie aie aie!

The Dissidents - Numbers Station

A couple of years ago I posted a song by an anarcho/political punk quartet from Philadelphia called The Dissidents (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2021/08/the-dissidents-no-air.html). I commented that it was hopefully just an introduction to a band we'll hear more from and happily, that is now the case.

They've a split ep with Manchester hardcore punk outfit Vitriolic Response which will be released on 7" vinyl on September 1st but which is available on Bandcamp now :  https://thedissidents.bandcamp.com/album/the-dissidents-vitriolic-response-split-ep

Vitriolic Response contribute a couple of impressively ferocious blasts of punk fury whilst The Dissidents kick things off with 3 equally pissed off tunes. I'll play the opening track, Patronised, on the next Just Some Punk Songs show. It's a message to guys who talk down to women, who have "so many words but nothing to say." The song I'm posting below though concerns itself with the short wave radio stations which have been arounds at least since World War 1 and which are believed to be intelligence officers operating in foreign countries.

  It's called Numbers Station...

Waves, waves flying out through the air High frequencies reach everywhere Are you receiving out there chorus Numbers Station (x4) Null 258 Signal sends the message through Wires inside us picking up a secret code Towers rising from the wilderness No one knows who put them there or what they’re for Chorus Run, try to stay out of the light Messages sent in plain sight Making their way through the night Chorus Hidden network pulsing out around the globe If you know the sequences you can decode We are thousands moving in the underground Making something beautiful from what we’ve found Chorus Hidden networks pulsing round the globe Thousands moving in the underground Wires inside of us (x4)

Dogma - Disarm Or Die

Dogma (https://www.facebook.com/Dogmapeacepunks) are the anarcho/peace punk band from Ottawa who graced Just Some Punk Songs a year ago with a track from their very fine Pils Sessions ep (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2022/03/dogma-world-peace.html).

They return today with equally as impressive new music from a 7 track ep titled Disarm Or Die. Again it's released on the consistently great Grow Your Own Records  https://growyourownrecords.bandcamp.com/album/disarm-or-die

The lyrics tread a well worn path for this type of music but they're oft used themes for a reason. They're important tropes which deserve hammering home and vocalist Steph does a great job enunciating those words. Take for example the plea for a world without bombs, a world without borders, a world without hate, a world with no war. It's really not that much to ask for is it?

This is the title track, it offers up a stark choice. Disarm Or Die...

CPU RAVE - Compressed (Guest Review By Ralph J Rivera)

I've LOVED "Crust/Anarcho" Punk since I was a teenager many moons ago. The music & lyrics always spoke to me in a different way than other styles of Punk music. The one record that really made a mark on me was Disorder's "Distortion To Deafness" EP. Completely pushing the boundaries of "music" in general. Who would have thought those cider brained lunatics would have such a lasting impression on generations of kids.

One of those bands is CPU RAVE from Montreal, Canada. Since 2018 they released a 7 song demo and an ep called "Mood Fucker". Then nothing.....until now! They're back with a brand new EP called "Coded Collapse".

5 brain melting new songs that pick up right where they left off. Ragu's guitar is turned up to 11 with maximum distortion and the rhythm section just push everything into the red. BUT you've never heard anything like their "singer" Mimi! She wails like an unhinged banshee and at times I don't even think she's saying words, just primal animal screams! This EP will cause you serious hearing and mental damage. I'm posting the lead off track "Compressed" just to set you up for what you're in for. ENJOY!

Alternative - What Revolution?

If you want to change the system
Better start with yourself...

Back in the 80's, Dunfermline punk band Alternative (https://www.facebook.com/alternativeautonomyandpeace) were regarded by many as the Scottish Crass. Despite being originally influenced more by The Crass and aiming to carve out their own sound, they did share many of Crass' lyrical concerns. They're a band who "spoke up against the injustices of the world and helped make some people create an opinion for themselves."

They were very prolific back in the day with numerous releases including the 1984 album If They Treat You Like Shit - Act Like Manure (https://sealedrecords2.bandcamp.com/album/if-they-treat-you-like-shit-act-like-manure).

This album is regarded as something of a classic but it could have been even better with the inclusion of a song which was dropped at the last minute for a live track (not even the band can remember why this happened).

Fear not though, the song, a 2 and a half minute classic burst of "impassioned and raging anarcho punk with duel female and male vocals" has finally seen the light of day almost 4 decades later. It's the title track of an ep on Sealed Records. The ep, available on 7" (white or black) vinyl and digital download also features a couple of different mixes of old favourites. You can get it here :  https://sealedrecords2.bandcamp.com/album/what-revolution

Take a trip back to the mid 80's. This is What Revolution?

1981 - What Should We Do With The Ones Who Don't Feel The Same?

1981 are the anarcho punk band from Finland who featured on here in 2019 with a track from their Acts Of Rebellion ep (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2019/06/1981-where-did-all-my-good-dreams-go.html). 4 years later they're back with a new single.

As with the previous song I posted by them, don't go expecting their sound to be the raging, hardcore tinged anarcho favoured by many in the genre. Their sound is darkly delicious and a little more restrained but their lyrics about nationalism & bigotry and the fear of the unknown are as hard hitting as they are thought provoking. There's 2 tracks on the single and it's available on vinyl or name your price digital download : https://i98i.bandcamp.com/album/what-should-we-do-with-the-ones-who-dont-feel-the-same-b-w-a-prisoner-of-this-world

This is the A side, it's titled What Should We Do With The Ones Who Don't Feel The Same...

I don't belong here This place it ain't for me Surrounded by others With their ignorance and bigotry Nationalism A sign of fear and insecurity When a love for a homeland Turns into stupidity I don't belong in this Blinkered community Where people hang on to A world that used to be No I don't belong here This place just ain't for me I don't want to be a part of This narrow minded society I know we want equality But there are too many who don't agree People take comfort in norms Stability, familiarity Change, I know, it can bring fear As shackles of the past are lost But these hard won freedoms They can only come at a tough cost How can we relate to the ones who don't feel the same? How can we reach out to the ones who don't feel the same? And what should we do with the ones who don't feel the same? What should we do with the ones who don't feel the same? Ignore them? Discount them? Tolerate them? Disregard them? Disobey them? Counteract them? Cultivate them? Educate them? What should we do with the ones who don't feel the same? What should we do with the ones who don't feel the same? What should we do with the ones who don't feel the same? What should we do with the ones who don't feel the same?

Armoured Flu Unit - Elsewhere Apartheid

Southampton Rabble Rousers Armoured Flu Unit (https://www.facebook.com/ArmouredFluUnitOfficial) return today with a track from their impressive new album, The Mighty Roar.

  It's an apt title for a body of work which sees frontman Nath Haywire passionately share his feelings in front of an impressive wall of sonic fury. Nath vents his spleen against the usual suspects such as animal rights, pointless wars, capitalism, the police state, sweatshops etc. They're familiar topics but when you're passionate about something you don't give up giving an opinion just because people turn a blind eye. You don't accept things as they are just because it seems one person can't make a difference. As it says on the brief, spoken word, title track;
"Our individual voices together become a Mighty Roar."

The album is available in 12" pastel blue vinyl, CD, and download. Vinyl and CD come with full colour lyric booklet available from https://anthraxuk.bandcamp.com/

This track is about genocide in the Middle East and how if it was happening elsewhere it wouldn't be tolerated, it's called Elsewhere Apartheid...

Conscripted young soldiers.
Tanks and state backed bulldozers. Dwellings torn down, Families forced away. Settler colonies spring up in their place. Racist policies discriminate - Deny rights in a two tier system. Perpetrate inhumane wrongs. Negate basic human rights They block humanitarian supplies Of medicines, power and food. Doctors killed in airstrikes on hospitals. Collective punishment of civilians. Soldiers armed with machine guns arrest and shoot children throwing stones. First deny people their humanity... Can you see the similarity? If there's 2 standards of life and ethnicity Is how you decide, The only word to describe this system has to be apartheid. Boycott Divestment Sanctions. Protest and targeted actions. Like South Africa in the 80s - Until Palestine is free

Rites Of Hadda - Agenda Gender Bender

It's been a few years since London anarcho-witchpunks Rites Of Hadda (https://www.facebook.com/ritesofhadda) last featured on here (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2019/03/rites-of-hadda-keep-buying-things.html). As with many bands, they were side lined by the pandemic, but they're back refreshed and better than ever.

They'll be one of many great acts gracing Blackpool this weekend at the Rebellion Festival and to coincide with that appearance they've just released a new single. Recorded, produced and mastered by John Youens (who regularly features on here with his band Slow Faction), it's a double A side of sax, drag and rock n roll that'll engage both your mind and your feet. It's out now on Horn & Hoof Records and you can grab it as a name your price download here :  https://ritesofhadda.bandcamp.com/album/agenda-gender-bender-the-debt

The Debt is 5 and a half minutes of atmospheric introspection whilst the flip side is a more sprightly  affair that'll have the hordes at the RIS/After Dark (Arena) stage at Blackpool dancing with wild abandon.

If you want an idea of what the band are like live then check out the song on this live video :  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i74clmhe_IU

  It's called Agenda Gender Bender...

Intellectually terrorise us who know our truth Swan over here your privilege so uncouth For folk that prize my genitals so highly You showed us yours, missed the point entirely I can see clearly your unwashed agenda And I'm a fucked up agender gender bender Don't try and stop it, there's no way to defend ya You know our existence is here to end ya! Must we endure your snotty expressions Do we judge all women by Myra's indiscretions? And as you deny your murderous duplicity Don't you weaponise my lived authenticity! I can see clearly your unwashed agenda And I'm a fucked up agender gender bender Don't try and stop it, there's no way to defend ya We know our existence is here to end ya!

Bad Breeding - Joyride

Stevenage band Bad Breeding (https://www.facebook.com/badbreedingband) formed in 2013 and made their first appearance on here 3 years later with a blistering track called Burn This Flag  https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2016/08/bad-breeding-burn-this-flag.html

They've always been a reliable source of hard hitting punk noise and things aren't about to change with the release of a new album titled Human Capital. It's due out on July 8th and on the evidence of the 3 tracks they've drip fed us thus far it's going to be pretty damn special. If you're in the US, you can order it on red vinyl (500 copies available) from Iron Lung Records (https://ironlungrecords.bigcartel.com/product/bad-breeding-human-capital-lp) and this is the first paragraph of a decent synopsis from the label...

Stevenage based, Bad Breeding, call for solidarity with their fourth album ‘Human Capital’, a pointed and brutal display of aggression steeped in political awareness. Across twelve merciless anarchopunk inspired tracks they attack Conservative meritocracy and the exploitative forces of late capitalism with a cacophony of blistering guitars and thunderous drums played with an intensity that refuses to abate.

If you're on this side of the Atlantic and you want vinyl (red or black), cd or digital download, it's available via One Little Independent Records : https://www.olirecords.com/shop/bad-breeding/human-capital/ and also on Bandcamp :  https://badbreeding.bandcamp.com/album/human-capital

This is the latest of the teaser tracks and also my favourite so far, it's called Joyride...

Dogma - The World A Peace

A very topical song today by Ottawa anarcho/peace punks Dogma (https://www.facebook.com/Dogmapeacepunks).

They're an atmospheric quartet featuring a line up of James (drums), Steph (vocals), Ricky (bass) & Justin (guitar). They formed in 2017 and their 2020 Self Titled album was one of that years best releases (https://anthraxuk.bandcamp.com/album/dogma-4).

They return today with the opening track on a new 5 song ep from Pils Sessions titled Dogma Session #08 02/22. We're treated to 3 new original compositions, a cover of The Mob's 1980 single Witch Hunt and a re recorded version of Indoctrination, a song from the debut album. Topics covered include world peace, consumerism, colonialism and the ruling elite. It's the first time in the studio for the band for 2 years and they had this to say  "A lot's changed, even for us as a band, since our last session in the studio almost exactly two years before this one, but we're beyond appreciative of the opportunity and thankful to be able to share our tunes with you, courtesy of PILS Sessions. At a time like this - in our city, in our society and in our world - we remember what matters.. hold yourself and your circles accountable in your fight for a better world."

This is The World A Peace...

 A World without bombs
 A world without borders
 A world without hate
 A world with no war!

The World at peace not in pieces,
The World at peace not in pieces!

The Officials - Rabid Dogs

The Officials (https://www.facebook.com/TheOfficialsAnarchoi) return today with the title track from their new ep. If you've missed them previously, they're the "boot stomping anarchoi" duo comprising of Nath Haywire (angry shouting) and John Copeland (guitar/bass/drums).

It's their 3rd ep, following X Ray Vision and Sleepwalking, and it's another winner. As the tag anarchoi suggests, the band combine elements of anarcho punk with old school shouty oi. Track 2 is a brand new song about the current Russian invasion of Ukraine and it has Nath asking if this is World War 3 ("Will this be armageddon? Power crazed lunatics.  Fingers on the button") whilst track 3 is about mass consumerism.

The ep is called Rabid Dogs and you can get it here : https://theofficials.bandcamp.com/album/rabid-dogs

  This is the title track...

Anthrax - Island Mentality

Hopefully you've all heard of Anthrax (https://www.facebook.com/anthrarx). As in Anthrax the UK anarcho punk band, not Anthrax the US heavy metal band. They formed in Gravesend, Kent, back in 1980 during the time that Crass were sniffing out bullshit and Maggie Thatcher was breeding a generation of voracious capitalists. They were a band that we needed back then and we still need them today.

They've just released a new album. It's their first for almost a decade, it's titled Serfs Out, and it's available from the band's Grow Your Own Records. As you might expect, they aren't happy with the state of the nation. They attack leaders ("care and compassion are no longer in fashion"), the media ("dumb it down dumb it down, vilify, throw it out there, repeat the lie") and those that enable this current shit show ("I'm so fuckin' proud of my country, I love to watch it fall from grace"). It's an album about the rich conning the poor with the help of a complicit media and it's simultaneously a great listen and a saddening one. It's about food banks, Brexit, greed and dumbing down. It's modern day life, maybe it's life as it's always been and sadly always will be.

A few of the songs are re recorded versions of tracks that have appeared in recent years, a few are new, all fit together nicely to make up one of the best albums of 2021. You can get it here on cd and digital download (the vinyl version will be out on Friday) : https://anthraxuk.bandcamp.com/album/serfs-out

I'll play a different track on the Just Some Punk Songs show later today (https://www.facebook.com/events/627462865369573) but the one I'm highlighting here is the one that concerns itself with little Englanders yearning for a glorious past that didn't actually exist. It's called Island Mentality...

51st State - Great British Public

51st State (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063360543123) are a duo from Exeter. They describe their music as Bass & beat punk/dub/industrial. Louder Than War's Nathan Brown, whilst reviewing previous ep Plastic (listen here : https://anthraxuk.bandcamp.com/album/51st-state-plastic) called their sound a hippy-punk mashup of anarcho punk, ska, dub, thrash and space rock. I think it's fair to say the band like to experiment and that you never quite know what to expect.

On their new single however (or at least on the song they've just released a video for), they've gone for a more traditional anarcho punk sound. And very good it is too.

The single will be out soon on Grow Your Own Records (as is the case globally, the single is at the mercy of the vinyl pressing plants which are all logjammed at the moment).

Pretty sure the wait will be worthwhile. This is Great British Public...
