Joe Zero - Cezanne With Kisses
Some of you may recall that throughout the year I've posted a number of songs from Joe Zero. Joe (aks Joe Moody) is the former frontman with golden age Belfast punk bands Victim and The Androids who is now based in Manchester making his own solo material. He's been teasing out a number of singles leading up to the release of his second solo album, The Eternity Man, and I'm pleased to bring you one of the highlights from that record today.
Following on from a successful acoustic set at the recent Rebellion Festival in Blackpool, Joe has released The Eternity Man on cd and digital and you can find it here : https://joezero.bandcamp.com/album/the-eternity-man
The album is an eclectic affair with songs ranging from the excellent upbeat buzzsaw punk of Rock 'n' Roll Wars through to sea shanties and tender love ballads. Joe's crafted an album that moves away from his punk roots but doesn't totally discard them. One man, his guitar and a poet's heart, the slow teasing build up has been well worth the wait.
The song I'm featuring below is one he wrote to for his partner and the love of his life, photographer Martine Fontaine. It's her work that graces the cover of the album her influence on him is apparent on several of it's songs. Case in point, this is Cezanne With Kisses.....
She was a mistake worth making
At least once or twice,
Or maybe a lifetime, who knows?
For she makes my spine tingle
Right down to the bone
She is the Muse of my Song...
Chorus. And I send her Cezanne Kisses
Bouncing off the Moon,
I send her Cezanne Kisses
(Ohh, Ohh, Ohh, Ohh, Ohh )
I'd let the Mountains tumble
Into the Sea
For Eternity, and her Love;
I'd let the Cosmos crumble
Into the Night
Until it starts Breathing again...
Chorus.
And I send her my Heart (Heart and Soul)
And I send her my Soul. (Heart and Soul)
And I send her my Life (Life and Love)
And I send her my Love. (Life and Love)

Joe Zero - Rock 'n' Roll Wars
I seem to have featured all the singles that former Victim frontman Joe Zero has put out in the run up to the release of his new solo album, The Eternity Man and I was in two minds whether or not to risk oversaturating the blog with Joe Zero songs but as this final one is the best yet I think I should go with it.
This time round Joe's taking us for a stroll through the history of rock n roll cramming in a number of namechecks for the likes of The Kinks, The Buzzcocks, Iggy Pop, The Beatles, T Rex, The Ramones ( Gabba Gabba Hey!) etc..... It's a real love letter to rock music's past. He finishes things off with his best Elvis impression.
There's one thing that's for sure, the album is gonna be a diverse collection of material and I'm guessing he'll be playing several songs from it when he performs on the acoustic stage at this year's Rebellion Festival.
This is Rock 'n' Roll Wars.....
Who remembers the first time,
Back in 1956
Then the Beatles and the Stones, T.Rex,
Sex Pistols, Cramps...Stay Sick
They tried to thrill us Using their guitars as guns... That's why I love Rock 'n... That's why I love Rock 'n... That's why I love Rock 'n' Roll!
Elvis was the King Elect
Ramones were Princes too
Then there was the Clash, the Damned,
Buzzcocks, the Kinks, the Who (and U2).
Who can forget the Starman
...he changed the lives of me and you
And Iggy, Lou and Jimi...
Plus the Morrisons-there were two
They tried to thrill us Using their guitars as guns... That's why I love Rock 'n... That's why I love Rock 'n... That's why I love Rock 'n' Roll!

Joe Zero - Iron In The Soul
Former Victim/Androids frontman Joe Zero returns today with the 4th of 5 quick fire singles that are leading up to the release of his new album, The Eternity Man. The Irish punk pioneer, who's now based in Manchester, will be playing acoustic versions of some of the songs from the new album at his upcoming gigs. Those gigs include Punk For The Homeless at the Belfast Pavillion on 1st April and the Rebellion Festival Acoustic Stage in August.
This time around, Joe offers up a narrative on life's struggles. "A material view and spiritual view....we all end up in the same place." Proving his versitility, the new song ventures towards folk, it's a modern day sea shanty that touches on the journeys of Herman Melville's Captain Ahab and Hermann Hesse's Siddhartha. It'll be interesting to see which direction the final single in this run heads off on.
You can find the new single, along with Joe's earlier releases, here : https://joezero.bandcamp.com/

Joe Zero - Love and the Vampire
Former Victim & Androids frontman Joe Zero continues his build up towards the summer release of his second solo album, The Eternity Man, by releasing a fang-tastic new single. The Manchester based solo artist, real name Joe Moody, has been releasing a single a month since his politically acerbic Christmas offering, Syria. This time around he's penned a true story of a woman who dresses in a long black gothic coat and could very well be trouble but she's too alluring to resist. Titled Love And The Vampire, it's an infectious kick ass rock n roll song with added punk rock bite. You can find it here : https://joezero.bandcamp.com/
If you're anywhere near Belfast on 1st April, you'll be able to catch Joe performing an acoustic set at the Belfast Pavilion as part of the Punk For The Homeless benefit. He'll be sharing a stage with Northern Irish legends Protex, Stop Stop Start Again and The Inflatable Dolls.
Accompanied by a video featuring some classic vampiric clips, this is Love And The Vampire.....
When we go out drinking,
You always buy me double!
This got me thinking,
Perhaps you are just trouble!
But when the Moon shines bright
And your eyes are all aglow...
And when you lick your lips...
I love your Moonlight Show!
For you're my Vampire Love!
You're my Vampire Love!
You're my Vampire Love...
YOU ARE MY VAMPIRE LOVE!
When you walk in the Graveyard,
With your long black Gothic coat,
You give me goosebumps,
When you stare at my throat!
You are my Vampire, my little Vampire!
YOU ARE MY VAMPIRE LOVE!
She is my Vampire Girl ( My Vampire Baby)
"Girl I'm just a Vampire for your Love...
And I'm gonna Suck ya!!!"

Joe Zero - You've Been Trumped - America
Last month ex-Victim frontman Joe Zero released a Christmas song which was a scathing attack on the rape Syria in which he was asking people not to turn a blind eye but to rise up and protest, today he returns with a brand new single.
This time out he's offering up a critique on the new president of the USA, Donald Trump. Joe questions how could a great nation choose to elect someone such as Trump, how could they want to live in isolation, how could they dig their own grave? It's the time of the apocalypse, God Bless America!
You can find it here : https://joezero.bandcamp.com/track/youve-been-trumped-america
Wake up America, You've Been Trumped.....
When you've finished singing,
"America the Brave",
You can build your Fire Wall
Give a Mexican Wave...
Then live in Isolation
Desolation of your Soul,
How could this happen
To the Land of Rock 'n' Roll?
Land of Rock 'n' Roll? Yeahhhh!
Chorus> You've been Trumped!
You've been Trumped!
AMERICA!!!
When you've finished digging,
America's Grave,
Is that any way for
A Great Nation to behave?
To live in Isolation,
Desolation of your Soul,
How could this happen
To the Land of Rock 'n' Roll?
Land of Rock 'n' Roll? Yeahhh!!!

Joe Zero - SYRIA
Another Christmas song today
But before you run a mile, despite containing sleigh bells aplenty this song has very little to do with the Festive Season and is more concerned with highlighting the plight of those unfortunates (especially the children) caught up in the absolute clusterfuck that's currently playing out in on foreign shores. As you'll see if you watch the video, it certainly isn't your typically saccherine sweet Xmas offering.
Joe Zero, aka Joe Moody, will probably be better known to most of you as the singer/songwriter, guitarist with golden era Belfast punk bands Victim and The Androids. Now based in Manchester he's more interested in world peace and tiny furry kittens than anarchy and chaos though he certainly hasn't lost his rebellious streak.
Earlier this year he released his first solo album, Scorpio Unbound, and now he's back shining a spotlight on a country that's currently a battlefield for the war games of various parties pushing vested interests as innocents are killed, maimed and displaced.
Titled Syria, the new single brings to mind the classic Christmas Songs of your youth (think Emerson, Lake And Palmer, Jonah Lewie etc....) but doesn't skate round the rape of the titular country. Is it punk? Hell yeah, coax in those masses with a catchy tune and give them some meaty lyrics to ponder.....this is what's happening in 2016 guys, don't turn a blind eye. "This is a protest song."
The single and album are both available here : https://joezero.bandcamp.com/ The video's below.
Future plans include a series of new singles, the first of which will be released on Fri 13th Jan. Others will follow mid Feb and 17th March and they'll all be accompanied by promo videos. In May, Joe will be releasing his second solo album, The Eternity Man.
This is Syria......
Can you hear the Children Crying?
Frightened by the Eagle's Claws...
Can you hear the Women Weeping?
Frightened by the Bear that Roars...
Can you hear the Spirits Screaming?
Frightened by the Serpents' Swords...
Can you hear the heads arolling?
In the Fields of Syria...
In the Fields of Syria...
Chorus> SYRIA. (x4)
Can you see the Sparrows Scattering?
Frightened by the Bells that Toll?
Can you see the Dragons Flaming?
And a Poison Thorn on a Bloody Rose...
Can you feel Time's Heartbeat Fading?
As we swirl around our Star...
Why are all God's Nations waiting?
To stop the Rape of Syria...
To stop the Rape of Syria...
Chorus>
(Repeat 1st verse with CAN'T...)
Chorus>
