Killed By Florida - My Vote Counts

Killed By Florida (https://www.facebook.com/killedbyflorida/) are an energetic thrash punk 5 piece from West Palm Beach who were originally called Causeway Cannibal and who released a debut Self Titled album in 2017. They line up with Tard Nugent (Guitar), Dave Lee Tard (Vocals), Ricky Retardo (Bass), Leotardo DeCrapo (Drums) and Justard Timberfuck (Guitar) although I have my suspicions as to whether their mothers actually christened them with those names!

Mixing speed, power and anger, they've recently released a sophomore album called Die Among Us and it's taking me back to the era when bands like the Dead Kennedys were ripping the establishment a new arsehole. Targets of their ire include homophobic Christians... those born with a silver spoon in their mouths... flag waving, gun toting, beer guzzling, God bothering assholes... and those that turn a blind eye to the creeping rise of the far right. The album is a blast and it's available on cd and digitally here : https://killedbyflorida.bandcamp.com/album/die-among-us

This track is topical given as we're only a few months away from the US elections and the choice for voters seems to be hardly inspiring. They have a choice to vote for the lesser of two evils in the knowledge that not much is likely to change. It's called My Vote Counts...

Two party system rigged from the start
Two separate chambers of the same black heart
Two different ways to go get fucked
Two different options shoved down your throat
My vote counts !
You have no voice
Your outcome is chosen
You have no choice
Were winning is losing
You have no
dreams worth pursuing
Your Living a lie
Life is an illusion
The American Dream sold
to the highest bidder
You are a commodity
Prepare for nuclear winter
You are the Cattle
led to the slaughter
You are not a person
You are a number
Nothing will change
this upcoming November
Nothing will change
not now not ever
My vote counts

Pizzatramp - I Got Work In The Morning

Yay!  The new Pizzatramp album, Grand Relapse, is finally out and boy does it rock. It's 15 tracks of fast as fuck skate thrash that'll be turning up on more than a few Best Of 2019 lists. Unlike many hardcore bands though, the Welsh 3 piece aren't trying to take down the state, they're taking the piss out of it instead. They might sing about the rise of the far right, climate change or the systematic destruction of the NHS but they don't come over all po-faced and preachy. That doesn't mean they don't care, they'll tackle the important stuff but they'll have fun doing so. And, as in the case of the song that's featured today, they'll also sing about booze & drugs! It's an adrenaline rush of the highest order and you can get it on picture disc or orange vinyl from TNS Records    https://www.tnsrecords.co.uk/shop/distro/cds/pizzatramp-grand-relapse/

  It's also on Bandcamp : https://tnsrecords.bandcamp.com/album/grand-relapse

I'll be playing a different song on tonight's Just Some Punk Songs show (https://www.facebook.com/events/2179639002114442/)  but on here I'm posting their new video. Pointing out the dangers of getting wasted on a school night, this is I Got Work In The Morning...

"This one goes out to all the heroes worldwide who go to gigs and clubs and pubs on school nights and still get absolutely fucking off their trees on spirits and pills regardless of the consequences"

lyrics

No pills
No shots
I got work in the morning

No keys
No lines
I got work in the morning

No fun
No life
I got work

Late nights in vans
Guinness in cans
Won't cancel my plans

No gigs
No weed
I got work in the morning

No clubs
No speed
I got work

25 shots 5000 watts I can see spots

I got work

Jaws - Thirst

Jaws IV, also known as Jaws: The Revenge. The movie that bought a house for Michael Caine's mum. And now it's the title of the new ep by New Jersey hardcore thrash punk band Jaws. The movie is rated 2.9/10 on the Internet Movie Database and a typical user review complains "...the film's near non-existant carnage is devoid of any campy gruesomeness, resorting to extreme close-ups of the absurdly unconvincing attacks, generating less menace than watching a snail crawl." Happily the ep delivers much more bite.

First featuring on here back in January with a track from debut ep Man Overboard (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2018/01/jaws-jaws.html), Jaws are one of the heaviest bands to grace this blog. The 5 songs on the new ep rattle by in around 9 minutes. It's fast, furious and pretty brutal, these guys have the scent of blood in their nostrils and they're moving in for the kill. Rather than concerning itself with sharks though, the opening track despite featuring gushing blood and hopeless victims is about a much more hirsuit creature.

You can get more info on the band here :   https://www.facebook.com/jawsofficialnj/ whilst both eps are here :   https://jawsnj.bandcamp.com/

  This is called Thirst...

Werewolves Chasing
Blood is gushing
Legs are tired
need to find a safe place

Finding sanctuary
not an easy task
cutting it close
the end is pretty close

Eyes are rolling
hair is growing
fangs are showing
losing whats left of me

Chasing my victims
giving little hope
hearing their screams
as the blood runs through my throat

Thirst, Craving, Hunger, Thirst,
Thirst, Craving, Hunger, Losing whats left of me

i can't believe this happened to me
one drop of blood, it fucked me
someone take a gun and load it with a bullet
and end this useless fucking life

Thirst, Craving, Hunger, Losing whats left of me

Rash Decision - Medium Raw

With the Just Some Punk Songs show and Wayne Elliott's Pulsebeat show both going out on Hong Kong station Radio Lantau, Wayne and myself compare playlists before the shows so we don't duplicate any of the songs. If there is anything in both, one of us will usually swap it although this week we had both included a song that neither of us wanted to leave out so it featured twice. Today's update is that song.

If you want to check out the shows, I've just uploaded the latest Just Some Punk Songs here : https://www.mixcloud.com/mick-fletcher/just-some-punk-songs-030618/

Wayne will no doubt post the latest Pulsebeat sometime today here :  https://www.mixcloud.com/Wayne_Elliott/

And the song we both felt the need to play? It's taken from Karoshi which is the new album from Falmouth (UK) hardcore punks Rash Decision. The band formed in 2006, are influenced by the likes of Municipal Waste, Black Flag, Minor Threat, Zeke, Slayer etc and the line up features Dave Decision (lead vocals/guitar), Kev Cregan (bass/backing vocals), Simon J Sky (guitar/backing vocals) and Tom Candy (drums).

You can get the vinyl version of the album here :  https://rashdecision.bigcartel.com/

The digital version is name your price on Bandcamp :  https://rashdecision.bandcamp.com/album/kar-shi

The band are currently touring Europe and you can find the dates here :  https://www.facebook.com/rashdecision/

With pedal pressed firmly to the floor, the song rapidly pounds its way through 75 seconds of blisteringly intense hardcore before surprisingly meeting up with popular Irish chanteuse Enya as she travels the Orinoco Flow. Everyone sails away into the sunset. This is called Medium Flow....

Pulled out of nothing, my life starts now.
Finally a chance not let you down.
You think you have the knowledge not to fail.
But that was all to no avail.

You bleed and you blister in the blasting steam.
You grow tired and sore and bitter and mean.
You lose track of who you think you are.
You cannot see through the scars.
A masterclass in patience and a lesson learned in life.
A year of suffering on the edge of a knife.
You learn to live with the barage of cunts.
Untill the breaking point when you're left with nuthin.

Line is drawn.
Cooked medium raw.
Burned to a crisp.

Forced to grind.
Forced to die
Fuck you all.
A masterclass in patience and a lesson learned in life.
A year of suffering on the edge of a knife.
You learn to live with the barage of cunts.
Untill the breaking point when you're left with nuthin.

Sail away.

Jaws - Jaws

I played today's song on a recent Just Some Punk Songs show and a week or two later received a message from a member of the band asking me how I'd found out about a local New Jersey band. The honest answer is, I can't remember though I'm sure it was just a case of too much time spent scouring the net. Anyway, hopefully today is the day plenty more people discover this local New Jersey band.

Jaws (don't confuse them with any of the other bands with the same name) tag themselves as being a thrash/hardcore band. They line up with Blake Hall (vocals), John Grotheer (drums/backing vocals), Dillon Paquin (guitar/backing vocals) and Julian Barriga (bass/backing vocals).

To find out more about them (and to avoid clicking on other bands with the same name) here's their Facebook page :   https://www.facebook.com/jawsofficialnj/

Back in July they released their debut ep, it features 7 short and ferocious tracks with plenty of bite and it's called Man Overboard. Go reel it in here : https://jawsnj.bandcamp.com/album/man-overboard

There's something in the water. By Jaws, this is called Jaws.....
