Spiky Brats - Beerbrats

"I don't know anything about Korean band Spikey Brats" is what I was going to start this first paragraph with but then I did a Facebook search to check if they were on there and it turned out I'd posted a song by them (this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9tWnHlLvcY) in the Facebook group The strange, obscure, diy and outsider music back in 2015.

They're a pogo punk band, a happier Casualties... big hair and fast tunes. Think of bands such as Drinking Boys and Girls Choir and Rumkicks and you won't be a million miles away.

I'm not sure where you can buy this song from but I do know that it brightened up my Monday morning so I'm posting it here. Enjoy.

It's called Beerbrats...

Who Killed Spikey Jacket? - What's Your Excuse?

Who Killed Spkey Jacket are the pogo punk band from Boston, Massachusettes, who previously appeared on here back in 2014 with their reworking of the UK Subs' classic, Warhead (http://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.co.uk/2014/12/who-killed-spikey-jacket-gluehead_10.html).

They formed in 2010 and announced themselves the following year by way of a split album with Leicester band The Wankys and have since released numerous eps & splits on labels such as Total Fucker Records, Joe Pogo Records etc. There's was also 2015's S/T compilation album. Recently they returned on top Japanese label Pogo 77 Records with new ep, Sleepytime Punks.

As with all their previous releases, the new material is great fun. It's in your face, bounce around the room punk in the vein of the likes of The Casualties, Tom And Boot Boys, Discocks etc. Released to coincide with their Japanese tour it's a definite winner.

You might have to turn up the volume for this video but it's well worth it. If you're a punk, you must wear studs. If you don't, What's Your Excuse?

Babies can make noise, birds can make music, your grandma sews pants but only punks wear studs
hippies can protest, most people survive, jocks can fight back but only punks wear studs

what's your excuse?
if you are a punk you must wear studs

dogs can be loyal, police can unite, sports fans are proud but only punks wear studs
frats get drunk, animals smell bad, hobos ride trains but only punks wear studs

studs are cheap, studding is easy take a few hours out of your life to show the world you are punk and proud

Dirty Work - Until We Die

Dirty Work are a pogo punk/street punk/oi band from Toronto who've been together since 2014. Originally a 4 piece, they've been touring and recording as a trio since the departure last November of rhythm guitarist Scott MacLean. They currently line up with Sal Lee (drums/vocals), Mac Hicks (bass/backing vocals) and Zack (guitar/vocals).

A couple of months ago they released their debut album, it's titled Out For You and you can check it out here :  https://dirtyworkofficial.bandcamp.com/album/out-for-you

They've a few gigs lined up to support the album and you can find details on those here : https://www.facebook.com/DirtyWorkofficial/

They're not going to win any prizes for originality but if you're looking for some straight up punk rock then you could do a lot worse then check out the 15 (+1) tracks on Out For You. Subjects include excessive drinking, girls with loose morals, living for the weekend and more drinking!

This one's called Until We Die....

Blanks 77 - Pills

Blanks 77 describe themselves as Total Fucking Pogo Punk!! and I can't argue with that. From New Jersey, they formed in 1990, split in 2001 and then reformed in 2004. They currently line up Mike Blank (vocals), Tim "TJ" Blank (bass), Renee Wasted (guitar) and Chad 77 (drums).

They've a large back catalogue of work, including a triple whammy of great late 90's studio albums (Killer Blanks, Tanked And Pogoed and C.B.H.) and now after a gap of nearly 20 years they return with 5 new tracks on a split album with Phillipsburg punkers The Parasitix. Recently released on Jailhouse Records, it's called Gettin' Blasted! and you can check it out here :  https://jailhouserecords3.bandcamp.com/album/gettin-blasted.

A scything commentary on modern society's reliance on pharmaceutical pick me ups or just a celebration of the various drugs that help the days pass more agreeably? (I'm hazarding a guess at the latter!)  This is Pills......
