XYLITOL - I Want a Refund

Hold on to your hats guys, today's song is pretty damn lively.

Xylitol is a naturally occurring alcohol found in most plant material, including many fruits and vegetables. It's widely used as a sugar substitute and in "sugar-free" chewing gums, mints, and other candies. Supposedly it can also give you bloating and diarrhea and it's very toxic to dogs.

XYLITOL are also a totally awesome hardcore punk band from Olympia who've previously featured on here with a track from their 2017 ep Is Toxic To Pigs??  https://xylitolband.bandcamp.com/album/is-toxic-to-pigs and their blistering cover of The Jerks' 1977 classic Get Your Woofin' Dog Off Me https://xylitolband.bandcamp.com/track/get-your-woofin-dog-off-me-the-jerks

They return today with a track from their new ep "I’m Pretty Sure I Would Know If Reality Were Fundamentally Different Than I Perceived It To Be" which is out now on Thrilling Living Records (and what a great year that label's having with releases by CB Radio Gorgeous, Sniffany & The Nits and Special Interest bolstering an already impressive back catalogue)  https://www.thrillingliving.com/.

The ep boasts 6 shouty blitzkrieg blasts of frantic pogo punk in which the energy never flags and which I'm guessing has left "singer" Laura with shredded vocal chords! Whether she's shouting about her plans to cork up the volcano, plug up the black holes and caulk up all the faultlines or just screaming that she's a crazy frog, she's an unharnessed power of nature that will blow you away. All proceeds go to Black Fem Defense, a Baltimore-based organization that makes self-defense tools and training accessible to Black queer youth. It's available on ltd edition vinyl and digital download :  https://thrillingliving.bandcamp.com/album/i-m-pretty-sure-i-would-know-if-reality-were-fundamentally-different-than-i-perceived-it-to-be-ep

The entire ep is a highlight but the song I'm posting today is the one that tells us the world is shit. It's titled I Want A Refund...

DIDN'T CHOSE TO HAVE A NAME
I WANT A REFUND LIVING IN A TWISTED GAME I WANT A REFUND ALGORITHM POLICE STATE I WANT A REFUND WHY CAN'T I JUST SUBLIMATE? Xylitol - Get Your Woofin' Dog Off Me

It's not long since uncompromising Olympia 4 piece Xylitol graced this blog (http://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.co.uk/2017/07/xylitol-i-dont-wanna-be-punished.html) so I don't need a big intro today. I'd just like to point you in the direction of a fabulous (barking mad???) cover they've recently released of a song that also appeared on this blog many moons ago (http://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/jerks-get-your-woofing-dog-off-me.html).

The original was by 5 Yorkshire teenagers called The Jerks and was from 1977, this updated version came out last month and is taken from a split tour tape that Xylitol released with Icelandic band Dauðyflin :  https://xylitolband.bandcamp.com/album/xylitol-dau-yflin-tour-tape

I played the song on the latest Just Some Punk Songs show and it went down a storm with several of the chatroom folk whilst a few others were left scratching their heads! If you want to listen to the show it's saved here : https://www.mixcloud.com/mick-fletcher/just-some-punk-songs-010817/

This Is Get Your Woofin' Dog Off Me.....

Xylitol - (I don't wanna be) PUNISHED

Xylitol is a sugar alcohol used as a sweetener, it looks and tastes like sugar and helps prevent tooth decay. It is often fatal to dogs (it's more dangerous to them than a bar of your favourite chocolate!).

Xylitol is also the name of a female fronted hardcore punk band from Olympia, Washington. The 4 members are Laura, Jake, Winter and Colter. Exposure to them can give you an energy rush but also leave you with a severe ringing in your ears. You have been warned.

  Is it toxic to pigs??

Personally I wouldn't expose pigs to Xylitol, they might not enjoy the toxic sweetness and I doubt they will be overly enamoured with the song Police Is Brutality. As for the rest of you, I recommend clicking the link, turning up your volume and bouncing around your room to one of 2017's best hardcore releases.... https://xylitolband.bandcamp.com/album/is-toxic-to-pigs It's name your price so no reason not to indulge yourself. The ep will be out early this month on Totaly Negativity records and Thrilling Living Records. They're currently touring with Daudyflin.

I heard the song you'll find below on (Dr And The Crippens' bassist)Wayne Elliott's excellent Pulsebeat show (listen here if you like cool music : https://www.mixcloud.com/GlobalPunkRadio/pulsebeat-54/). It's called (I Don't Wanna Be) PUNISHED and it's really rather sweet.....

I'M JUST A PUNK
I'M JUST ALIVE
I DON'T WANNA BE PUNISHED

YOU KNOW A LOT OF ACRONYMS
YOU BLUDGEON ME WITH FACTS
NEED A FAST FORWARD
OR A TIME BURGLARY TAX

PLEASE NO MORE "SO WHAT DO YOU DO"
I'D RATHER EAT A SLICE OF MY SHOE
I'D RATHER GET A BRIEF STOMACH FLU
THAN DRAIN MY LIFE FORCE TALKING TO YOU

I'M JUST A PUNK, I'M JUST ALIVE
I DON'T WANNA BE PUNISHED

YOU'RE SUSSING ME UP
SIZING ME DOWN
WALL TALKING ME
I'M STARTING TO FROWN

YOU SUCK MY EVENING
IT SLIDES DOWN THE DRAIN
CAN I LEAVE IF I YELL
"AM I BEING DETAINED?"

YOU'RE MEETING COOL NEW PEOPLE
YOU'RE FILING THEM IN FOLDERS
AMBIGUITY NOT YOUR BAG
MORE COMFORTABLE WITH BORDERS

COLLECTING ALL THE RECORDS
YOU'RE PILING UP NEW GEAR
YOUR FOLLOWERS WILL DOUBLE
WITHIN THE FISCAL YEAR
