The Chisel - Enough Said

You may remember a few days ago I featured the latest single by Crown Court and mentioned that guitarist Charlie Manning Walker was keeping busy as a member of both Chubby & The Gang and The Chisel. There's a new Chubby album on the horizon but a new Chisel ep is already with us.

The hard hitting oi newcomers debuted last year with the Deconstructive Surgery ep (tough as old bovver boots was my verdict) and then followed it up a couple of months ago with this beauty :  https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2020/12/the-chisel-not-only-one.html

And now we have ep number 3. There's a couple of original compositions plus a spirited rendition of The Business' classic Harry May. You can get it here :

The sound is big and beefy, production duties courtesy of Jonah Falco (Fucked Up/Career Suicide) and there's a definite air of menace as a night down the pub turns nasty. This is Enough Said...

Pints with my mates and I'm feeling alright When some snotty little cunt came and ruined my night Said you better watch out or you'll end up dead I looked him in the eye and this is what I said ENOUGH SAID ENOUGH SAID I didn't ask for your reply, I'm thinking... I've already worked out the hows and whys No interest in what you've read Cos as soon as I stop talking that's enough said ENOUGH SAID ENOUGH SAID ENOUGH SAID ENOUGH SAID

The Chisel - Not The Only One

The Chisel announced themselves earlier this year with one of 2020's most powerful (and best) eps (https://lavidaesunmus.bandcamp.com/album/deconstructive-surgery-ep) and it very much looks as though January 15th will see them returning with an early contender for best ep of 2021. It'll be titled Come See Me and it'll be available on orange vinyl from La Vida Es Un Mus (https://lavidaesunmus.bandcamp.com/album/come-see-me-not-the-only-one-ep). If you're in The States then you can get it from Beach Impediment Records on red vinyl (https://beachimpedimentrecords.bandcamp.com/album/come-see-me-not-the-only-one-ep). In Japan it'll be on Black Hole Records (https://blackholekuroiana.bandcamp.com/). It'll go quick so pre order now.

The band are a 5 piece featuring members from Blackpool, Croydon, Acton, Chingford and Guildford who've featured in numerous other killer bands. They line up thus; Callum Graham (Nation Unrest - Vocals), Charlie Manning Walker (Chubby And The Gang - Guitar), Helm (Guitar), Nicolas Sarnella (Arms Race - Drums) and Tom Ellis (The Shitty Limits - Bass). Going by the evidence of the track they've shared from the ep, we're still getting an impressive helping of 80's inspired fist in the air oi but this time around with a slightly glossier production and a touch more melody. It's still tough as nails and still very, very good. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing the full release.

Working class rock n roll at it's best, this is Not The Only One...

The Chisel - Blackpool'20

The Chisel play hard hitting oi and they're releasing a 5 track ep soon on La Vida Es Un Mus Discos. It's all very energetic and they sound tough as old (bovver) boots. They seem like the sort of guys you wouldn't want to meet down a dark alleyway. They are the sort of guys who's music you want to check out though and you can do just that by clicking here :   https://lavidaesunmus.bandcamp.com/album/deconstructive-surgery-ep

The ep gets in your face right from the get go with a bellowed 1-2-3-4 and lyrics warning about being in the wrong place at the wrong time. It barrels along with no let up and by the time the final (eponymous) track comes to an end the Chisel Boys have got the job done and you feel as though you've taken a good kicking from a pair of size 10, 20 hole cherry red Doc Martens.

The record sleeve shows bombs raining down on Blackpool Tower (and let's be honest, bombs over Blackpool would probably improve the place) and ties in with the explosive track you'll find below. Oi music doesn't get much faster or heavier than this, Blackpool'20...
